He's forgetting the most important part of clinch fighting: don't let your opponent get out of it. without a fight. Sling him around to knock him off balance, smash those knees and sling him some more. When he's either going to escape it or you want to go back to striking, give him a good push and then throw a solid theep or round kick to gain distance.
every this is right about this move however far too many muay thai figther never develope there foot work to a level wherr they can step in quickly and make the distance .. you move must come in very close on exact time and make the elbow an quick re-attack.
i have seen more little light weights execute these type of techniques.
the phillipian panatuca style as many of these executabel moves in the regular system.
let to this and greco roman wrestling it adds to good clinch works feemur
That would be an awkward combo to put any power into without bringing your upper body back and starting the rear leg kick from your fight stance, thus giving the opponent time to check or dodge the attack.
If your opponent used this move I would bring up a high leg check and drop the elbow to the outside of my thigh while guarding your face with the glove
then follow with a front tiip to knock the opponent off balance. Then attack however you want.
@fajitawaffle Instead you could also opt for a little borrowing of techniques from grappling sports, and wrap the blocked arm around his first clinching arm, then you have control. His elbow is pointed down, so you can push down on that arm and force him to lean forward. The head always comes out of the block that way, after which you can make short punches to your hearts content.
You're the one with leverage, so all the opponent can do is cover up with one arm and wait for the ref to separate.
i agree with you but if u did it fast enough and the person wasnt expecting it, it would work, they are doing the move a lot slower then what it would be if they were fighting for real.
by the time he recoils to fire another right, you should already have his head controlled and entered in. if not, yeah you better get your guard back up.
