Very nice, great song, nicely sung, by Palmer & BJ Nelson, nice sax solo, too. Funny how he looks so contemporary now, back then he was quite a different looking 80s cat, with his suits, & dressy style... Really dig his smoother stuff, this, Mercy, Mercy Me, & I Want You, etc... I do miss his voice on the scene...
What can one say about Robert Palmer except that he was a true original in every sense Sadly, he left this world much too soon Rest in peace, sweet Robert ❤♪♫•*¨*•☆♫♫
Robert Palmer had one thing over every other singer of the modern age......CLASS. He was suave and dashing to all the ladies. A man that definitely left this world far before his time.
Hmmm-mmmmm, a gorgeous Andy Fraser song. Love the low key flute lick. And BJ's vocals. Yes, totally could have been a Marvin Gaye track from "What's Going On". And my four string brethren: I think we owe a standing ovation to Frank Blair. What a treat! Thanks
Such an amazing and talented man. You can see he really feels his music, the words. He has such a seductive, powerful voice, something you don't hear in todays songs. He is truly missed! His songs will live forever in our hearts. Thanks Sarah
Anybody know where I can buy this live DVD if it is available ?? If so, what is the title and when released ?? I've seen a few live tracks from this concert footage as it is awesome. I'm a huge fan of RP as this is a fantastic concert - never knew he was a guitarist.
Don't get me wrong. I like Robert's style and he may indeed be a good guitar player. But this song neither shows his songwriting or guitar playing talent. The song chords, the rythm etc all have a very significant resemblance to any one of Marvin Gaye's song from the "What's Goin' On" Album. Listen to Mercy Me, What's Goin On, and the others and you will hear similarities. In fact, Robert even covered Marvin Gaye's "What's Goin' On".
As regards guitarist, if you are indeed a guitarist, you will see that he guitar work on this song is relatively easy and involves few complicated changes, and numerous open finger bar chords.
All of this having been said, Robert had something special which many don't. He has a restrained white man's delivery with a lot of soul, and this can also be found in his songwriting.
I just watched his video "Know By Now", and although it suffers from a lot of cliche'd computer drum track rythm and trebled guitar typical from the early 90's, it is a beautiful song nonetheless.
Whoa...this IS interesting. I knew that Robert Palmer was a badass, but like others , I didn't know he played guitar. And obviously he's not an ORNAMENTAL guitarist. He's laying down some serious FUNK-style guitar and SINGING lead at the same time...with absolutely NO EFFORT!!!
Robert was a very gifted musician.I had some great days with him in Switzerland !We had some great plans to make some music together, but then he got sick!I miss him so much and do listen to his music every day!
This is my favorite Robert Palmer song. Yes it does take every kind of people to make the world go round. I wish people could appreciate the differences and rejoice them.
I was blessed to see Robert live before his passing. Wonderful show and voice. Few artist can sound/recreate what they put on record with their voice and passion. Robert was one of them. He was NOT afraid to challenge himself and his music with different styles. For electronics, listen to his Gary Newmans' "Cars".Blew my mind. And then he had Bossa Nova to boot!!! He had SOUL every time he sung. Love his remake of Marvin Gayes' "Mercy, Mercy"..Few remakes almost as good as the original.. R I P.
The first time I saw Robert Palmer in concert was around 1979 with Heart, this is one of many great songs original or cover, Robert made it his own and still til this day his music sounds timeless...left us too early...R.I.P
Wow,I was totally amazed by finding this clip on YouTube& lost of comment posted regarding him. I was a big fan of him & went to this concert in Japan @ Kosei Nenkin Kaikan. Throughout his entire stay in Japan, he appeard every media coverage with the same suits he wore in this concert. I remember him saying this suits was made by a famous Italian designer.I was one of a few lucky fans to get a ticket for his additional mini live concert held @Hilton Tokyo Hotel in Shinjuku.
anybody notice how clean Robert Palmer did things? Always rocked in a business suite and even the guitar he plays in this video was a straight clean design. The guy was a showman and personafied class. I miss him

Robert Palmer was to music what Steve McQueen was to acting: cool, humble, stylish and very, very talented.
Sadly, both men left us too early.
Rock In Peace Robert Palmer.

to purchase. This may be one of his finest live performances ever and not available in the US market or archived
here. Tthis is worth pursueing at all cost.
