@geetarjunkiee Yes, I agree with you. I had watched this program on TV when it was telecast for the first time in 1999. I had felt the same too. Actually Rahman was singing the higher notes (you can sense that after the second "Dil se reeeeee"). But the lower notes were being played, along with other music.

Producers of the show must have thought that would be a better idea to make the song sound exactly like how it was released. The crowd missed out the chance of listening this song live.

@sultan859....i dont think there is any AV-sync error...less than half second time lag if we are too exact...but the pitching at the start and the rest of the video is a clear give-away. Also playing a recorded song leaves no scope for improvisation which is the case here..the audio here is exactly identical to the recorded song, even the double track feature

I have no doubt he is lip sync'ing the recorded song...except the start portion. Actually when he is just about to finish that "Dil se Reeeeeeeeee" at the start, at that time the recorded music smoothly picks up and then onwards only lip sync.
