April is here again and its National Donate Life Month. Please Discuss Your Wishes With Your Family Or Friend Your Decision To Be Or Not To Be An Organ Donor. Donors Are Heros
Hi,my name is vision and those that don't belive that donation work. It works. I received a kidney and yes, as Vicklou say, people are dying everyday waiting on and organ. I am one of the ones that made it. I am on this video with my son who was only eight years old when my kidney lefted me.He is now 25
While we appreciate the sentiment, it is not realistic to think that hospitals can afford to provide transplant surgeries for free. The support hospitals receive through grants, etc., is not nearly enough to cover the costs associated with providing services surgeries, treatment, etc. for patients. As to your comment about compensating donor families - donor families, in general, tell us that offering them money for their selfless gift of donation would be insulting to them.
If the hospitals cannot afford to give their operation for free, what makes you think they don't already get tons of money through grants, bonds, and our taxes?
If hospitals cannot give the operations for free, I cannot give them my organs because they should not profit off it. I am sure the hospital puts a charge in for the organ somehow ... if the hospitals are to profit, why can the familys of the dead not too?
I think you mistake my intent ... it is about greed in the hospitals!
Hospitals are reimbursed for the costs of operating rooms and services for organ donation in the same way that they are paid for any other service. The issue of profit is not a donation issue rather a healthcare issue. Sorry to hear that you would make the decision to not donate organs and tissues to save the lives of so many desperate people who will die without, simply in protest of the healthcare system.
I am very familiar with the US medical care system and how corrupt it is ... I am sorry, but yes it is a protest. When the corruption ends, or they nationalize the healthcare in America, I will do it.
People in America pay more tax than any nation in the world without nationalized healthcare. The huge military, nation building, you choose it ... We are overtaxed as Americans.
Again, what is wrong wiht my family making a profit off an organ if the hospital is going to make a profit?
You seem to think we don't support these heavily socialized hospitals anyway ... those who cannot pay don't, the old people pay little and the ones in the middle get hit with the huge taxes and have to pay on top of it.
Is'nt it amazing, hospitals are free market when it comes to wanting to make cash, but socialists when they are asking for grants and bonds we pay for.
It's time for a change in the healthcare system ... or the current system can fail for all I care. I am tired of corruption!
I'm a potential recipient who can't really wait. You see, I have no kidneys and will probably die before the 5-year wait for a cadaveric kidney. So I'm counting on someone IN THE U.S. (Illinois or Ohio would be ideal) to volunteer to be my living donor. Dialysis is, after all, just a time-consuming pain, and has cost me my life more than once already.
I'm writing a persuasive essay and after seeing this video I believe I found my topic. I also was not registered as an organ donor but I am now. I don't live in Illinois but I am impressed with the effort and I think this should be more widely stressed nation wide.
This is my topic for a persausive speech too. I actually do live in IL and hope that people in my class will sign up when they turn 18. Or at least encourage people in their families to sign up.
actual they got one fact wrong that i noticed, one organ donor can potentially save or enhance the lives of 50 people not 25 as the commercial said. but its a great commercial, people really do need to register.
interesting video !

why can the hospitals profit off organ donation?
These hospitals get grants, levies, and bonds to support them ... the fact is why can the family of dead cannot get compensated as the hospital?
If I am going to ever going to donate organs, the hospitals will have to do the surgery for free for the person receiving the organ!
Hospitals should do the operations for free ...
