Tolkki was a good vocalist, I don't know if Kotipelto was really neccessary. Don't get me wrong, I love him, sometimes he gets a little repetative, but I still think he's amazing. With Tolkki, it allowed Strato's music to be slightly different, more speedy but slightly less melodic.

I think they are different type of vocalist, you cannot compare them. Dickinson' have the most fuckin' amazing voice I have ever heard, expecially in the matter of high notes, scraming and falsetto. But Dio has a beautiful voice, which rapes your ears and your heart.

I cannot say which one is better for me, they are both the best in different fields.

Alas, it's not about technical ability, it's about creativity. Anything Timo has composed is far less credited and recognized than any of Ritchie's riffs or solos.

@GrizCC It's better that why. That's why I love power metal the most. There's no risk of anyone becoming like metallica or bring me the horizon. They will always do it for love to music, not money, and therefore, have a more harcore audience. Ritchie Blackmore, anyways, is a very good guitarrist, his best work is the one he did in Rainbow. You should hear it, it's pretty awesome, with Dio on the vocals.

Im down with the fact that anyone covering Dio is paying tribute. Perhaps some poor soul unexposed to Rainbow and Dio but happened upon Strato might now wonder "Wow, let me read about this song" and learn its history, opening up a whole new world. And to me this version tries to stay true without adding a bunch of cheesedisk wanna-be rock god extra crap. They just rock the song out. Nothing wrong with keeping fine art alive.
