Carnival Nights and the next two zones had waaaay superior pc music, in my opinion. Especially launch base, which was just completely lackluster in the MegaDrive version.
The PC versions wheren't bad, but I was sooo surprized when I played it at my friends house on his Genesis, becouse I only played the PC version before then. BTW, did you ever notice that the only Sonic 3 songs to be replaced in this game where the last 3 zones of the game, and if they where replaced becouse of the MJ inccident, maybe when they were making the game they used these songs becouse they ran out of time, they did say they where, and thats also why the split Sonic 3 into 2 parts.
the reason they changes these 3 songs is because computers at the time didnt have the capability to play those 3 songs, since they had wierd sond effects and such, so they replaced them.
well, yeah, but you can work your way around that, using other sounds that sound similar and such, but the fact remains that it was the LAST 3 levels. They sounded different, from the other levels, they had wierd sound effects, and they were all replaced in the PC release.
wrong. they were replaced because michael jackson was actually involved in the production of the sonic 3 tracks that appeared on the genesis, but he was discredited due to the 1993 abuse scandal. Sega removed them in the PC version to avoid lawsuits.
I have to say, they don't compare to the originals- yet I'd like to hear YM2612 versions of the remixed Carnival Night/Ice Cap and Launch Base zone themes.
I may do it myself one day, if I ever acquire the right equipment...
Love it!!

I blame copyrights for the song being replaced with this one and the same went for launch base.

@ssjcmc82
it was replaced due to the "OMG,MJ coposed half of the music in sonic 3" crap!
Theethannamcoman 1 year ago
@Theethannamcoman I thought at least part of it is because the inclusion of weird vocal samples in the songs was beyond MIDI technology back then...
Ninetails2000 7 months ago
@Theethannamcoman No, it was because MJ wasn't happy with the end result. :\

change your MIDI device to Microsoft GM/GS! It's got the wrong instruments...

@SpeedingHedgehog no they were removed because the genesis versions of the songs contained vocals

@SuperFadey1 Ice Cap didn't. Your theory breaks down pretty quickly with a little thought.

@videogamer810 Yes, Ice Cap did. Listen closely and you'll hear some "hey"s in the background.

They changed the credits and the competition menu as well.

This and others were replaced when they removed Michale Jackson's work to avoid paying royalties after he was dropped.

Always preferred this to the megadrive song.

For some odd reason, this music fits Casino Night Zone from Sonic 2 more than Sonic 3's Carnival Night Zone. lol
