  • its a tecumseh. thats whats wrong.

  • First of all check your gas level if not you will most likely have a clogged jet ( The screw that hold the bowl on in the bottom of the carb.) If you want i can make a video on how to fix it just let me know:)

  • if you can hear the piston is slapping

    p.s you also need gas

  • @sawman7able oh yeah they run on that stuff dont they?

  • Manually idle the engine on the butterfly shaft. If it dies, idle circuit plugged. Engine will hunt. A partially sheared flywheel key will make engine miss. A hunting engine is a fuel delivery problem. Remove plug. If electrode is white/clean, it is running too lean (read: hot). Not good. These are simple engines. You have to be smarter than the engine. Can you do that?

  • Yep - clean the holes in the plug holding the carb bowl on. Use a stripped twisty-tie - perfect diameter and stiffness. Push it up into the hole where the bolt goes too. Make sure to the the teeny tiny jet on the INSIDE of the bolt.

  • If you have cleaned carb I would double check and make sure the screw that is on the bottom of the carb has all the holes cleaned out on it. It sounds like its partially clogged. There is a larger hole in the top of the screw and a very small hole right at the end of the threads on the screw

  • !!!!PLZ READ!!!! dude ur problem is simple U NEED MORE GAS DONT LISTEN TO THE OTHER GUYS WITH REALLY LONG MESSAGES the same thing happened to me i opened up the gas cap and theres no fuel. trust me thats all u need MORE FUEL

  • I did also clean the bowl gasket when I put the bowl back on. That may have been part of the fix as others suggest.

  • Also clean up inside carb where the screw goes in. I used a dental mirror to see the parts. Make sure to wind your cue tip tight. so as to not leave any cotton on your parts. There's also a brass jet screw on the side you can unscreww and clean the tiny jole on as well. Make sure you dry any gas off before starting again.

  • @orchdork513 dude ur wrong all he needs is more fuel and yes the same thing happened to me put more fuel in all better

  • I just fixed my mower that was doing the same thing. The carb was fouled. The fix was pretty easy. Pinch the fuel line closed (vise grip or other but don't crush/tear the plastic hose). Place a towel under the silver bowl of the carb and unscrew the brass screw on the bottom (the gas will pour out but then stop if you have pinched the gas line). Remove and clean the bowl and the brass screw checking to get any gunk out the tiny holes in the screw (use a wire and cue tip).

  • My prblem too. What's the answer?

  • That's what my mower is doing....grrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!

  • it got water and dirt in the gasket

  • bowl gasket air leak

  • maybe replace the bowl gasket, you may have an air leak

  • Have you tried to clean the carb? That has happened to me a few times. The carb get dirty either by dirt or clogged up by gasoline gunk.
