Tribute to Norbert Langensiepen

I only knew the Algarve album so far, and I've been listening to it a thousand times I think. Now I read here that Nobert has died some years out of sudden. He was a great musician. All my respect to him. In loving memory to his music.

Had this playing in the background at our wedding 30th September 2010. We still listen to our cd's all the time but this track has always been our favourite. Visiting Albufeira is not the same no Norbert has gone. We will always remember him fondly through his music.

My husband and I had the pleasure of hearing him sing back in March 2003, naturally we bought a cd and often listen to it while remembering a fantastic musician and a wonderful afternoon spent in Portugal.

er war, nein er ist immer noch ein genialer Künstler. Seine Musik und seine Art Musik zu machen sind unsterblich! Ich weiß nicht wie oft ich seine CDs höre......

Zurücklehnen und die Augen schließen. Und oft sehe ich dann Norbert, wie er in Mainz in der Fußgängerzone seine Musik macht, umringt von Kindern und Erwachsenen. Selten, dass mir ein so begnadeter "Straßenkünstler" begegnet ist. Ich werde Ihn nie vergessen! Warum mußte er nur so früh von dieser Welt gehen....warum?

I am shocked to read that Norbert passed away. We learned and now him from our trips to the algarve where we did meet him and talked to him. He played a very nice song for us and we did bay his cd`s and still listen too his music from time to time.

It`s a sad moment for us now to learn that he did.My god bless his him and if he plays his gitar up stairs like he did here I now he will do the great man upstairs a big pleasure.

Only just heard of Norbert's passing - so sad, such a great man and musician.Your pain must be difficult to bear.Have listened to his music every night for a long time.Spent many happy hours in Albefeura listening to him play; am listening to him now! Do you still have CDs for sale? If so,how do we get them and pay for them? I do hope that you and your children are coping; so many people loved Norbert and I can understand why you feel so proud. May Norbert RIP and you find peace.

Now I'm on a mission ... I've just been digging through some old photographs and I do believe I've found a picture of Norbert as a younger man ... I can't be 100% sure - I almost didn't recognise myself!

I'll bring the pics with me to the barbecue.

Now, something else ... what's going on with the ratings? Surely a piece of music as delightful as this should attract more than 15 ratings ... sometimes I think that certain aspects of YouTube are a little odd to say the least.

This a beautiful piece of music ... wonderful tone combined with a delicate touch and perfect expression.

I'm beginning to wonder if I met this man in the past. I was stationed in Germany with HM Forces in the early 1980's and I met a man called Norbert in Muenster ... I was quite active on the local music scene at the time and was often invited to local "gatherings" of musicians, artists and the like.

Not sure ... it was all so long ago.

i herd norbert in 1999 and enjoyed his music bt wen we went back in 2006 we were upset 2 hear about his death . we still lisen 2 his music but the square will never b the same without him

Thanks for the tribute. I only just learned of his death. What a sad loss. We heard him play in Lagos in 2002. A lovely man and great guitarist. I have one of his CDs. I am trying to get hold of his others. Are they still available?

His death was actually really unfortunate; He has been back to Germany for a couple of days to check up on his house there when he got the flu. They treated him but it did not really get better. Though the doctors advised him to go to the hospital he rather stayed at home hoping that it would'nt that bad. Couple of days later the virus infected his heart. He didn't wake up the next morning. For me this is so insane, especially knowing that Norbert was so full of energy and life...

It was a shocker when we asked about Norbert when we were in Albufeira in 2006, he was the one we always listened to on a terrace in the mainsquare in Albufeira. A great guitar player and a nice guy '' only the good die young '' we miss him dearly ....

mir ist eben die Kinnlade runtzergeklappt als ich es gelesen hab... Gott, und ich hab mich schon so ewig gefragt warum man ihn so lange schon nicht mehr gesehen hat. ich hab ihm immer an Weihnachten und im Sommer in meiner Stadt gesehen und ihm zugehört. er war wirklich total nett und ein so unglaublich guter und leidenschaftlicher Gitarrist. es ist wirklich ein Verlust... :(

ich kann es kaum glauben, es ist 2007 und ich erfahre jetzt erst das Norbert tot ist. Er war ein Bekannter meiner Mutter und stammt ursprünglich aus Langenberg in NRW. Was um die Ecke von hier ist. Ich habe sooo oft in der Fußgängerzone von Hattingen gesehen und gehört. Versteht sich das wir die CD's von ihm haben!

I met Norbert back in the 90s. His playing was amazing so I bought one of his CDs. Ultimately, I wanted to have the other four CDs but then read of his untimely death. Many people seem to have the same problem. What a mess his work isn't listed in Amazon. Got some more Info and a possible contact adress for CD shipping at DAMN... I was in Albufiera last Sept and the cafe Dolce Jardin where he used to play were selling his cds. Not sure how much stock they had left.

I met Norbert in March 2003 when I visited Albufiera. He was a lovely man and I sat transfixed by his playing. Promised I'd go back and eventually did last september, although I'd heard of his untimely death. the Old Square had been structurally altered and the place seemed empty without him. however the Cafe "Dolce Jardin" in the corner where he played sold his cd's and played his music constantly. I sat with my cofee and shed a tear.

Albufeira isn't the same without Norbert, we used to love sunday lunch in the square listening to him, iv'e got all 4 of his cd's, I had lost "just one guitar" when someone stole my car but I managed to get another copy from the restarant in the corner of the square (they still play his music)
