Uncle Blinky ;o) U win 5 stars from me ***** and the grass thingy helps prove my theory of U being full of hot air and the flower no matter its name is beautiful... I think I might enter this here contest!
nice work. So whatcha using for a still camera? Jason sure is great for letting us use his music like that, and he has a great variety to choose from too.
These photos are over a several year period of time so I've used 3 different cameras with them. Olypmus C-700, Kodak V570, and a Sanyo Xacti Which I can't remember the model designation right now.
I use an Xacti HD1000 for videos, and I was able to get some stills at a concert that I couldn't have ever dreamed of with my SLR and its f4 70-200mm lens.
Hehehe:) Yep the flower was indeed just asking for a bee to come by and have it's way with it, LOL. I'm sure KurtGnu would love to have any entry anyone can muster!
Thanks Jennifer! That sounds like it would make for a pretty funny video. Although I imagine parents of kids wouldn't be too thrilled with having them unwittingly being put on YouTube, LOL. Still the audio itself would be uhmmm, interesting if everyone blew at the same time, hehehe.
More than I ever expected, Blink! I'm glad I decided to have it judged by an independent panel of judges, as there's no way I could have taken it upon myself to decide a winner this time.. :)
Blinky, the flower is a hibiscus. We saw a lot of in Hawaii, but I think they need agricultural zone 9 and above on the mainland US. I have also grown them indoors in our zone 8. There are several colors and some have double blooms. In warmer climates they are constantly blooming--one of my favorite plants.
Thanks for the info Ecliptic!!! I was a little surprised when you said it was a hibiscus because I myself grow okra and it's always said that okra is a cousin to the hibiscus, and okra blooms don't have the long stamen. But I Imgag Googled it and of course you are right:) It's a very photogenic plant. I'm in zone 7. I'll have to see how these plants do this winter. They are under an outside roof which is about 20 feet tall, so they're protected from the frost, if not the cold weather.
Thanks Marc! I used to do the grass thing a couple of times every summer. I must not have done it the last few summers though because I couldn't remember if bigger or smaller blades were thee best. This one here seemed pretty good. I first tried a really wide blade and didn't get much sound out of it.
I thought the inchworm shot was so unusual I probably took about 15 photos of it the day I ran across it. I think the grass was fine. It was probably just a piece of lung or something, LOL.
Thanks SplitPZ!!! Well I'm SURE I would have eaten it by now except this particular banana was the plastic banana prize given to my by Pippilly when I was a co-winner of her banana eating contest. KurtGnu was the other co-winner.
Liked the little worms! The banana ought to be funny, but as a German I didn't get it, but the expression on your face blowing the grass was funny!!^^
Thanks Baron!!! The box of Jello Pudding was in jail for it's part in facilitating the slaughter of countless bananas to be ultimately consumed in "Banana Pudding".
Thanks moomay! I probably should have done a little more variety on blowing the blade of grass but I was trying to blow out "Shave And A Haircut, Two Bits" :)
ROFL! Wow, you really stepped things up. I loved all the photos and thought that was a great idea for an instrument! I remember whistling with a blade of grass as a kid (that was a few years ago, wink).
Well after seeing your video I knew my previous video just wasn't going to cut the mustard!!! I'm still not entirely satisfied with the wall pic. Had I known about this contest a couple of months ago I would have made it a point to take a photo of the very first section of wall they erected on that building I showed. It would have been much more artsy just showing a monolithic slab with nothing else around it.
Oh Man; I Had Forgotten About The Melodious(sp?) Sounds Of A Blade Of Grass. Love The Banana, And Those Wormie Things Were Just Fantastic. Were Those In Your Very Own Garden? ;0)
I took the inchworm photo several years ago. When my cats were younger and afraid to venture out much on their own I used to take them on a perimeter tour of the yard every evening. I found the branch/leaf with the inchworms in a far corner of the yard quite a ways from the garden.
Ahhh, but the banana was just dispensing some frontier justice. It was seeking retribution for all of it's bretheran who have been mercilessly sliced up to go into banana puddings! The Jello pudding is definately an accomplice to the massacre:)
I pretty much have to do that once or twice a year, LOL. I actually was trying to blow a simple little tune on the part I kept repeating. I doubt anyone could ever guess it though since I really couldn't change the pitch.
Oddly enough I almost never see inchworms around here. This was from several years ago when I was just walking around the yard. I'd never seen a similiar type of photo op before or since.
Man that Banana photo hard to beat! Wowo just saw Kurts contest and happy to try to get some of things on his list.. being a sucker for Photogs and all! Bugs... did i see those before.. cool hang tens on those guys! LOL
Thanks Cookie!!! I look forward to seeing what you come up with!!! I think I did put that pic of the inchworms in one of my vids before. I really can't remember which one that might be though.
As you gaze out upon a large field of grass. Just imagine the sound it would make if every single blade were living up to it's full musical potential, LOL.
Keep off the grass!
