its because the concept of a "sports utility vehicle" is very american. It seems like SUV's are more commonly referred to as "offroad cars" or "4X4" or "4WD". When he says 4WD drive, he is NOT referring to a honest to goodness 4WD sports car like the ones you listed.

All the cars you mentioned are proper performance cars, true sports and supercars, not "4WD"s. They are, however, equipped with AWD systems.
