I love my old Cs1x - a great controller for Software Synthesizer and with time and work you can make some interesting Sounds with it - the Strings/Pads are very good plus some decent Trance/Techno Sounds can be produced with this one. To make really good Sounds i record my Cs1x via Soundcard into Steinbergs Wave Lab Sample Editor and use my Waves Plug Inns to polish em up...really the perfect starter Synth for beginners that want to produce Electronic Music.
i hate when people say keyboards are crap as it doesnt matter how old it is because if it can make sound and you know how to use it you can make a great music
@JOCKATEO Wait. Who's saying old synths are crap? If anything, I'd say these new ones are crap. Cookie-cutter workstations with no soul or personality! :)
i got mine for 160 euros.I see thats not to much money for this machine!(I,m glad!)But i,m really glad with this synth...I love the sounds and it is really friendly in use.
this is the low end model ? i would not bother to buy this at all > if you want the best version which as more filters and everything else go for the best model the yamaha an1x
but if you want to write songs and you need alot of poly go for a yamaha cs6x.
but as far as analog goes from a digital synth i would go for the yamaha an1x
as the yamaha an1x is a killer synth when it comes to replicating analog synth
@haikousei Personally, I would go for the AN1x for it's awesome VA synth engine. However, the CS1x is great fun, but if you can, I'd suggest you go for the CS2x instead. More sounds and the arpeggiator outputs over MIDI, something the CS1x doesn't do.
i am also very interested in the VA synth in AN1x..
right now i found a CS1x for about cost of 200 US dollars at the recycle shop, so im wondering if should i go for this.. but now knowing that CS2x arpeggiator can output MIDI is making me think about waiting for that..
my main target is a synth that is light and portable, easy to use for live performance, excellent variety of synth sounds, and easy to use great arpeggiator.. and the CS1x seems to have all of that..?
thank you for the tips.. actually i decided to wait and look for the AN1x instead.. that seems to have all that i want.. if i get that i would certainly be very satisfied :)
I keep seeing this on Craislist for dirt cheap. Thanks for the video. It'll help my decision making...the sounds are EARTH SHATTERING but they're not that terrible either...
Yeah, the CS2x had some extra material voices and a couple more knobs. The CS6x however, is the one I'd really like ;o) And an AN1x too.
Yup, the SU10 is in it's rightful home, supported by the lip that was designed specifically to hold it :o) TBH, I only really bought it to fill the space there. I hardly use it anymore ! LOL ;o)
Oddly enough An1x's have gone up in price, along with other older/vintage synths. I picked mine up at EUR 200,- and have seen others selling at 300-400,- even, here in the Netherlands.

Hey FailedMuso :)
i wanna buy a good synth and i thought about this one, so please answer some questions:
1-- is it good for live shows (like- can u change the sounds while youre playing and stuff..)?
2-- is it good with computers (working with prorams like Cubase and others..)?
3-- do u recommend it for real? if i would buy it in 450$ ?
THANKS A LOT :]

if you had to choose between CS1x or AN1x which would you choose??
which is the one thats most useful for live performance, excellent arpeggiator, and all round fun and easy to use?
