  • sounds sooo soft

  • LOVE this!

  • Was that Coffee the Lion at the end? :O

  • I want to watch the movie "The Chimp (1932)" with Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy.

Can you upload it for me chrisivision07.

  • Italian traduction:

S - Ho visto la Metro Goldwyn!

    O - Che Metro Goldwyn?

    S - Veniva da quella parte e ...

    (ROAR AND FANFARE)

    (SCREAM AND ROAR)

    (MGM LION ROARS)

    O - Entra qui!

    (OTHER MGM LION ROARS)

  • Those "mask thing" below the lion looks very weird. An mouth shaped as an heart...

  • what this film of the laurel & hardy?? what is the title of this film??

  • @blackandblue3 The title is the Chimp.

  • This Is Funny !!!!

  • I just saw MGM <3

  • besides the logos what were those clips of?

  • Stan had that brilliant wit for those funny lines.

  • You've misread what I said. And I didn't say that Laurel and Hardy aren't awesome

  • That tiger scares me.

  • I think that Laurel and Hardy clip is from "The Chimp".

  • this early roar 0:07 is also on the big house.

  • this is very funny

  • ok i know this isnt cool for you gyes but it is cool for me it is very funny when the stooges yelled and run that was when i laugh. cool was it

  • Scenes from "Laurel and Hardy" like this, imagine if The Three Stooges did that scene?

    Curly: I just saw MGM

Moe: What do you mean an MGM?

    Curly: He came around with..

    (Lion roars)

(Stooges looks at the lion. Then yells and runs)

  • Never heard that roar from "Show People" before. Sounds like it was done by a human.

  • I wouldn't be surprised!

  • @KidCairbre It sound like an accustical sound effect done with a small drum with a leather or rubber lining. The device had a cone shape in the center, and when pulled, it made this sort of 'roaring" noise. It was used in theaters as a sound effect and may have been used here to simulate a lion's roar when they were unable to record the real thing. These early recordings had to be all done in one take. There was no dubbing of tracks yet.

  • @RayPointer Is there a name for that particular roar simulating device?

  • @KidCairbre Sounds more like a creaky door t'me!!!

  • What's very weird is that the prints I've seen of supposedly the first film to have Leo's roar (White Shadows in the South Seas, 1928), it has the more familiar roar.

Was this added in later? (Some early sound films had music but no roar...)

  • I would have to think that film was reissued sometime in the 1930's and the original roar was replaced. I was very disappointed not to find a unique roar when I saw the opening credits to White Shadows, thought for sure it would sound even stranger than the ones in my video.

  • @TServo2049 Jackie's roar was always heard, those one with Jackie not roaring our plasters of Slats' appearance.

  • @TServo2049 Jackie's roar was always heard, those ones with Jackie not roaring are plasters of Slats' appearance.

  • I think MGM is pretty cool guy. He roar when movie starts and doesn't afraid of anything

  • Jackie is one of my favorite MGM lions!

  • Thanks for this unique upload! I rarely heard Jackie's early "roars" during my lifetime.

  • TuckHandler, where'd you hear that?

  • Hahahahahahahaha!

  • I heard one of the MGM lions got loose while they were filming him and he tore one of the cameraman's balls off.

  • The first logo's lion roars sound unique! Whoa!
