  • yes. there is actually about 11 minutes of footage, its quiet however, but the stupid bitch that downloaded her film from that even will not allow it to be embedded, in other words you cant repost it.

  • It is literally impossible to find actual footage of this concert. All of the videos are just pictures with audio. I mean, come on, this is Elton John and John Lennon, the fact that the two legends are actually playing together in concert is amazing. Did nobody take a video? If anybody knows where I can find a video, please reply.

  • Brilliant bass playing, was it Dee Murray?

  • @brookdalebill Thank you for saying this, otherwise I would have. Dee Murray, never heard of him though. But whoever this is, thumbs up!

  • @brookdalebill Yeah Dee Murray. The genius from Goodbye Yellow Brick Road album (and more) . Listen to Love Lies Bleeding with headphones. Listen to that Jazz Bass through a Pignose amp, baby! Yeah!

  • the tempo is a tiny tad where it would be if they were " getting " through the night. i wonder .......does this seem a little bit faster than normal? great stuff thax 4 the upload.

  • @parablearable Yes, the live performance is a bit faster than the original recording. That was probably the only real failing of Elton John's band during the early/mid 70s. They had a tendency to play everything at a quicker tempo during live shows. No wonder Elton decided to change the lineup in 1975.

  • November 28, 1974: During Elton John's Thanksgiving concert at Madison Square Garden in NYC, John Lennon makes a special appearance to sing "Whatever Gets You Through The Night" and "I Saw Her Standing There." It will be Lennon's last concert appearance ever. ☺

  • John Lennon's last public performance :(

  • I always thought this version blows away the studio. Great TUNE!

  • oh so gay USA...and teach your child well

  • oh so gay USA

  • demand to be gay

  • beautifuuull yeeei!!

  • i bet the crowd thought the paul was gonna get on stage lol plus i just danced like crazy!

  • what song was next?

  • I believe this is one of only three concert appearances by John Lennon in the 1970s. The other two took place on the same day in August 1972. All three performances were at Madison Square Garden. Only two things could coax John into rare stage appearances during his solo years: worthy charitable causes and bets with fellow musicians!

  • @azapro911 this was john's last public appearance ever.

  • @jason13204 Well, on stage anyway. I think he did some miming for TV show performances shortly after this...but point taken, it was indeed his last proper, out-and-out performance for a big audience.

  • Music history!

  • tHIS WAS an Amazinf time In History-1974 esp November

  • @ubelieveinme2oo Yeah! I was born few hours after this consert! Pity I just missed it.

  • @2BeHonestNow , But even being born a few hours before, you know how parents are... I said no, you can't go, your still too young! lol

  • I cant beleive they never filmed this event..Anyone know if there is film footage of this legendary show in existance?..If there is I've never seen it

  • @smasherhits I knew about it right afterwards but no one knew John was going to show up except for Elton because they had a bet about that song. The bet was Elton said it would go to #1 and if it did John had to show up at one of Elton's concerts.

  • @smasherhits There was footage on youtube but the big boys had it taken down.

  • the video doesn't move, but the sound is ok

  • Many criticized Paul for being a little cunnning when, working with Elvis Costello, he re-created the Paul/John-harmony effect in songs...but I don't think this is a much different result!

  • mi canción de los 70 en Perú se conoció como "lo que trae la Noche" magnifico LENNON & JOHN

  • Comment removed

  • I wish Lennon had recorded more during the 70's. That would be one hellavu' music collection.

  • Kind of a wooden performance........looks like they are just standing there and not moving around very much to me. John doesnt even appear to be strumming guitar. Sounds pretty good though.......

  • @717021 took me a minute.

  • @EyMeng I do what I can.

  • @717021 Hahah. Nice one.

  • accually elton made a bet with lennon and elton won the bet

  • wow. i wonder...i remember the photos in a book

  • I cant believe there are 2 thumbs down! Hopefully they just dont like that there is only a picture.

  • Whats that Betales song ..John i s playing just introduced..?

  • @texthebandit i feel fine.

  • whatever gets u thru ur life - Lennon -

  • Wonder if that is Bobby Keyes on the Saxophone. He appears on the studio version. Anybody know?

  • 2 icons...

    end of story...

    check it out...john plays "I Feel Fine"...as a check

  • It's crazy that John thought this song was a throwaway record and Elton thought it would be a number one song. It tells you how many songs that John thought weren't good enough and probably would've been huge records. It's scary to think how talented not only Lennon but the rest of the Beatles were.

  • This was to be Johns last time on stage! So sad...

  • John was always a Beatle first, it was his band.

  • suena de puta madre!

  • Lee Oswald was a gifted linguist. He had children with his pretty, intelligent, university-educated wife (she was trained as a druggist). He was a C.I.A.-operative. He was not a sexually-frustrated, unemployed, junky, mother-hating, drunken loner. He had friends. He had charisma. He bathed daily, visited his dentists after meals and brushed twice a year.

  • this was actually a bet, between John and Elton...They were jamming one night, and John put this song " What ever, gets you through the night" Elton, LOVED IT! John said, it wouldn't amount to anything, Elton said, mark my words..It will not only be a hit, but will go straight to #1 ! Elton said, when it does, I'll tour with you. Guess what people.. I tshot to #1 !!! Thats the story....

  • damn totally thought this was going to be a video

  • @thedroogfulable there isnt any video footage

  • @4FabBEATLES

Yeah, what a pity that there is no video footage. And I couldn't find any ...

  • @123ThisIsMe

    /watch?v=5T1HsbPO0oQ

    You're welcome. :)

  • as i reminisce..there may not be any greater artists on stage to see other than John Lennon, Elvis Presley, and Frank Sinatra....anyone got any better ideas...?

  • God bless John Lennon and god love Elton John entertainers we don't seethe likes of these days

  • 2nd greatest event. my wife was born in 74, so that makes #1 on my list! :-)

  • Thanks for video and God bless you J.L.

  • Elton John Lennon.

  • Pity no one recorded it on video. Elton John still honors Lennon today for that concert. That is great. How much was taking from us that day in December 1980.

  • @fantorjhs too much

  • @philipdarby5 you are rigth.

  • Elton and John sound great together!

  • Awsome!!

  • The last time John Lennon would sing live.

  • Simply great!

    Thanks ♪

  • There is amateur video of this newly posted. Search YouTube for "Thanksgiving 1974 Elton John & John Lennon / Madison Square Garden NYC". It's very primitive but cool.

  • i had seen a video of this concert back in the day on MTV sadly i havent found it anywhere if someone knows where i cn get concert in dvd please let me know thank you

  • 0:35 classic.

  • Who is wailing on the sax?

  • @colbybelk -Muscle Shoals Horns accompanied Elton & Lennon for the set that night.

  • Does anyone know where someone can get the video of them performing together, and not just the audio?

  • @LennyRevell I may be wrong but I don't think it exists. I don't think anyone filmed the performance. The only thing I've ever seen are still shots, (like the one shown in this vid), but never live footage.

  • @TheMerryPup Pity we miss an historical video.

  • @mommamaxx Good for you,wow....((0J0))

  • gambar nya doank g asik

  • awesome , just the start of I feel Fine would have sent shivers up the audiences spine just to have seen him play that small part after so long.....

  • IMAGINE being there....................

  • Love his little Beatle lick of I Feel Fine at the beginning.

  • Terrible !! Grande John !!

  • EPIC.

  • I want someone to give me his opinion, Elton John really wanted to John Lennon? Or just use it to climb to fame.

From what I remember of the movie John and Yoko, a love story Lennon Elton drunk and made fun .............

  • jesus who's on bass?!!

  • @RainmanCT The bassist is called Dee Murray. He was the bassist in Elton John's classic band line-up. Sadly died in 1992.

  • @eltonator wow ok thanks! i never realized what a great bassline this tune had until i listened to it on headphones! thanks for info

  • @RainmanCT Dee Murray, gone too soon.

  • there are lots of times in the past where someone shouldve had a video camera. this is one and van halens first tour and led zeppelins.why in the hell this wasnt recorded with the greats up there ill never understand.

  • @salamonetalton The cameras in those days were big and heavy and there were usually pretty strict regulations against recording/photos unless you were a credited journalist.

Even I remember those days a bit when I got to see Stevie Wonder in 1984..

  • yes of course, It was the Salute to Sir Lew Grade...

  • OMG. My first concert and I was 16. I lived in Forest Hills. I left the family dinner table, took a bus and train into the city and the rest is history.

  • @Brucelovesmusic57 you lucky mother f***** hahaha

  • This is John's last time on stage in front of a live audience.

  • @tommyrock69 no actually he last played live at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel on April 18, 1975...3 songs including imagine, 2 of which are on you tube...

  • @g1rag I stand corrected. Thank you. What was the occasion at the Waldorf? Do you know?

  • I was there and I distinctly remember John saying, "this one is by an old estranged fiance of mine, called Paul...' and then launching into " I saw her Standing There"

I was 16 and I believe it was my first concert. The crowd screamed at the top of their lungs the entire performance. It was, and will always be, the best thing I ever saw.

  • @doug5759 Hi Doug, I was there too. 16 myself, skipped Thanksgiving dinner with the family to go to the Garden. I have seen 1000 + concerts and there was not one moment in any of them that compared to the instant that Elton announced John Lennon. I was just a kid, but i knew i was witnessing history. Thanks for the comment and peace!

  • and no footage!!!! Whõ's fault for such a sacrilege?!?!?

  • @gazuaman I recently posted my little silent film of that evening. Purely amateur, but it's something...

  • @mommamaxx Thanks. I've just seen it! GReat! What a treasure...thanks for sharing. cheers

  • quiero ver esto!!!

  • Is john playing the sax? Some one said he did, but they may have just meant the record version. probably, its just you couldnt switch from sax to vocals so fast n some cases, here it only plays when their a rest after or before the verse.

  • @sparkytrick: Yea, as you can see from the photo he's playing a six-stringed sax.

(P.S. John Lennon did not play the saxophone.)

  • @aarfeld He played more than one song that night., so the photo may have been from a different part. Dont be an asshole. Good point though, I forgot he as playing guitar as well as singing. Still, dont be so high and mighty.

  • @sparkytrick: Keep your jacket on, Sparky. Just a bit of humor there; no offense intended.

  • sem filmagens? que estranho, ninguém pensou????????ou era proibido?

  • this might have been the greatest single event to have happened in all of 1974...(hyperbole, but still...)

  • i was there.....AMAZING.....bragging rights

  • @thekenzosh I was there as well. Great night. As I recall, Bernie Taupin was also up there hitting a tambourine. RIP John. As long as music is played, you will be remembered and loved.

  • thanks for posting- never heard this one!

  • All these years later and he "warms up" to I Feel Fine to start it off.

  • @1967mustanggta Was that John playing that? I thought it was someone in Elton's band paying a little tribute to John. Elton said that John got sick like 3 times before he was supposed to go on. He was so nervous to how the crowd was going to react but as you can hear, they went NUTS! Yoko was in the crowd that night and very soon after this, they got back together.

  • What a thrill....

  • Like this if Dan Kanter Sent you here!

  • wow...a little spec of "i feel fine" in the beginning - wish they'd played on...but priceless in any case..

  • I still have the ticket stubs from this show...bought 2 30 dollar scale tickets...

  • OMG..I was actually at this show!!

  • is any video from this event ???? Muste be somewhere! some one filming with a phone or camera? =)..

  • @rareu4532 Someone filming with a phone? SOMEONE FILMING WITH A PHONE? This happened in 1974!!! LOL!!!!!!!!

I tell you, there were no phones with video at that time. Not even mobile phones. I didn't want to be the one who tell you this, but someone should. ;P

  • @kikalcala you never know, a man/woman from the future.. I saw the date after, and just laugh about it...

  • @rareu4532 Ok, there's a remote posibility that Marty McFly made a brief visit from our days to that moment in the DeLorean with Doc Brown an iPhone xD

  • @rareu4532 lol someone filming with a fone. what planet you come from buddy

  • @rareu4532 John Lennon was murdered 30 years ago dumb ass. No cell phones back then

  • In response to russelljdj I find it refreshing that this didn't have a video probably just the sound guy that night getting a desk tape, this was before the corporations nailed every last thing left now everything is so staged even in '74 if a band was touring they could call someone in that town and get them up without a lawer contract fantastic it beats the shit that goes on today.

  • sounds like this was a major inspiration for the beginning horn work for the Saturday Night Live beginning credits.

  • @lensjockeyvideo no kidding.

  • Love listening to Dee jamming on the bass!

  • Love the carnation John's wearing. Came from Yoko who was there but still split from him. Their reconciliation began that night.

Guh. I wish there was film footage of this. Was SO jealous of cousins who were there. Lucky biatches!

  • "don´t need a watch to waste your time" -

wow, i wish i had the gift to write such clever lyrics LOL

  • i had that 3 songs on maxi single - this was the last time lennon played live

  • now lets see, what have the yanks ever done for us,oh yer KILLED OUR JOHN !!,no wonder know one like them any more...........................

  • @alreadyou They didn't all kill him you know!

  • I just listened to all the songs John played with EJ that night and I swear I held my breath more than I breathed it. YES! Wonderful wonderful

  • i am betting that there is video of this, it just hasent been made public for some reason.

  • The funny thing is that Paul has been the most successful musician of all time since before John's death...it has nothing to do with Paul's career being longer.

  • @johnsipodtouchhelp no Paul was the most succesfusful since the Beatles and after Beatles brake up....and now!

  • @omarengo you meant commercially succesfull? Because John Lennon is the greatest of them all.

  • @WiltatKansas both greatest!!!!!!

  • @johnsipodtouchhelp Michael Jackson is the most succesful actually, and he sucked.

  • @WiltatKansas Whoops, I meant to say songwriter.

  • @WiltatKansas Also on every video you've commented on you've had an extremely biased view of John Lennon.

  • @johnsipodtouchhelp And what is wrong wth that? Most of the people have an extremely biased view of Paul.

  • @WiltatKansas No, most people don't. It's not that you have a biased view of John, it's that you have a biased view in general. I would've said the same thing if you had a biased view of Paul, or George, or Ringo.

  • @johnsipodtouchhelp I don't have a biased view of anything it's just my personal opinion, even if the whole world thinks the opposite i have the same resaon than the whole world, never less. And you will not the one who will judge me.

  • Damn, I take it theres no footage of this momentous show?

  • @seekah1 So strange...They KNEW this was going to happen...Why the fuck did nobody arrange a camera? Was Elton to out of it to think that logically?

  • @laosandburma I know man. Perhaps thats just the way it was back then. I would love to see how they interacted back then. JL was apparantly just getting over a sickness so maybe he wasnt exactly up for it. Who knows.

  • r.i.p John. dont compare john and paul, they were like brothers and wouldnt want this to be an issue really! give peace a chance yeah?

  • Pauls been alive alot longer so thre's no real comparison

  • John was born in 1940 , get your facts dude....

  • my mom was there...i'm so fucking jealous lol

  • Why on eatrh isn't there a video on this??Surely,SOMEONE,SOMEBODY on this earth must have something!!Notice that at the very beginning John plays the riff of I Feel Fine.

  • i agree

  • JOHN LENNON IS THE SHIT!

  • que sonzeira!

  • Who is better John Lennon or Paul McCartney?

  • well john lennon..

Cuz he had an incredible solo carrer

    Paul not as much

  • @dinichio I am of the same idea

  • @justme81487 you're an idiot; he had 30 more years to make hits.

  • @justme81487 Shut Up, John was the best, and he's more hits, because he's had 30 more years than John. How Do You Sleep???

  • george

  • JOHN LENNON R.I.P

  • 0:36 "I Feel Fine"...

  • WOW!!!!!

  • Dizer o quê??

  • ???

  • @adir00 Concordo, dizer o que? HAHAHA. ISSO É TUDO!

O gringo que postou o vídeo não sabe português... rs

  • I can't believe there is NO video footage of this in existence. Did no one in 1974 have any foresight??

  • i know, what the hell????

  • Where was a bootlegger then when you really needed one, am I right????

  • At least its a professional recording. Thank God for that.

  • @russelljdj have you found any video yet?

or do you know for a fact that there is none in existence?

ii have a terrible itch to know because i heard rumors Lennon was actually a double on stage

  • @TehDash

It can't be!!I remember seeing pictures of the John-Yoko meeting backstage after the show that eventually brought them together again following John's ''lost weekend'' period. He had the same outfit tha's being shown on the few pictures the world has been able to see of the event.

  • @russelljdj pop oil

  • @russelljdj they recorded the audio

  • @russelljdj No they did`nt, niether did anyone have any idea that John Lennon only live 6 more years after this concert.
