Hi Cindy - we are staying at the Gran Bahia Principe Coba with our 2 children (10 and 8). We love snorkelling. Do you have suggestions of the best place to snorkell? (Mindy here) : )
@mindeedee Last time we were at the Gran Bahia Principe Coba there were lots of fish right under the pier & some along the little reef at their beach. A snorkeling tour we took from near there was to Akumal (this video is from there) to swim with the sea turtles. We went again this past Dec & got a great guide who took us over the reef - lots of beautiful fish, cuttle fish etc.! There's also Xel-Ha nearby, snorkeling & many other things.
@mindeedee Mindy. A few miles north of the Bahia Principe is the town of Akumal. Heading noth on the highway make a right into Akumal. There are several great snorkeling places. Juat after you pass through the gates if parking for Akumal Bay which has a grpoup of Green Sea Turtles living there just off the beach. If you turn left in town on the main road head to the end and you can fin Yal Ku Lagoon, another great snorkeling place for kids.
@CrowdedHouseofCats Thanks for that info - I will take a note of it for our next trip. I know where you are talking of and we plan to do that next time we are there! Thanks again! ☺
Thanks so much for your reply. I have a canon underwater camera that i have used to video, but you have now inspired me to buy underwater housing for my canon vixia hf200. I have learned so much from your videos! We are on our way to the mayan next weekend for our first time from Edmonton. I will keep watching your videos until we go!
You can walk right in from the shore at Lol Ha restaurant and avoid the cost of the tour.
