Funny, you probably pulled that off of wikipedia. In which that calls all sub-genres of speed metal(thrash, goth, black, death, etc) extream sub-genres of metal.

Cradle of Filth played death metal during their demo era, Their first full album was symphonic black metal, the albums leading up to Bitter Suites to Succubi were goth/black metal, and after that their recent stuff has been "extream" gothic metal.
