thought almagro played very well. maybe he doesn't have as strong mental mind as federer or nadal. but i thought he still played like a real sportsmen not forfeiting until the end. also it was a long game. it was like a 3 hours and 20 mins game.
Today he becomes 26 years old. In my opinion a top10 player and especially on clay one of the best players on ATP tour. Hope he will have a great day today and see him often in his best shape on the big courts all over the world. Best wishes to him from friends in Germany
Haha, you guys defending almagro don't know sh...t; this was the ultimate choke from him, I remember cause i saw that full match; he was beating nadal and got to 3 consecutive match points on HIS SERVE(40-0) and then totally choked,it'was pitifull, he wasn't limping in that moment, he only began to have "cramps" when he lost that game and realised what kind of opportunity he blew...
Everyone here that is criticizing Almagro clearly doesn't understand what's happening here.
Almagro's leg has fully cramped up to the point where he can't even move it. Notice how he can't even jump into his serves. Almagro knows he is done, but because the match is almost over, he allows Nadal to play it out instead of forfeiting.
If anything, Almagro should get credit for trying to finish the match.
@yoootooobeee Certainly. Will these same people who criticized Almagro criticize Nadal too? From the top of my head, Nadal retired against Monaco, Hewitt and Murray, and against Murray he was only half a set away from losing. And it isn't like Almagro's case where he couldn't run.
@yoootooobeee i agree, if he was hurting and kept on until the end, he deserves credit, but I think he had a chance to close out the match in the second set and didn´t, maybe because he got tight..then again, rafa never gives up, which also makes it very hard as well.
@yoootooobeee indeed. I like to read the comments from people like you yootooobeee, who understand about tghe game. I am fun of Nadal's game but Almagro deserves win that match. I am fun of Nadal because he doesn't give up.
Why the hell is almagro playing so sloppily? He's not twisting his body, just hit and hope he wins the point which is pretty impossible, all his shots lack power and depth.
It's easy for us to criticize Almagro. But watch the video of the 5 match points he saw saved. He played most of those points well. He stayed in long baseline rallies with one of the best baseliners in the world. He hit time and again groundstrokes which 99.9% of people could only dream of hitting with the same power, accuracy and consistency, right into the corners. These would've won one of those 5 points against almost anyone else in the world. And he lost. You can see why he's disheartened!
Almagro's body language, flatfootedness and bored 'hit and hope' play is exactly like the way I sometimes play, when sensing an inevitable defeat. Although I've normally lost several games in a row before doing that.
Still, this is FINALLY, a way in which I actually, truly resemble one of the top sportspeople in the world (!)
...its so distasteful how almagro ended the match(albeit looks like he was cramping) but still...ur running rafa off the court even just smacking the ball, 5-5 in the third i mean could of gone either way....but good job to nadal on saving 5 MP's....
Let's hope Rafa produces in tomorrow's match what he produced in these last two games. Fingers and toes and everything else are crossed! Vamos Rafael! P.S. Thank you for uploading this :)

These mean comments are ridiculous.
Nico had leg cramps. Could not jump on his serve. At least he did not retire.
