  • We can't talk of metal or non metal, but of good music and bad music..... this is definitely good

  • This album is brilliant, opeth just wnated to do something new, and i think its awesome if you dont like listen to other songs, stop hatin,

  • If akerfeldt says he currently cant cover any more ground playing death metal than he cant. No use for him doing something he doesnt want to do. The album would feel forced. This doesnt

  • When did Opeth turn into The Mars Volta? That's fucking brilliant.

  • I do miss the death metal days though, but I can't deny the fact that this album is more amazing each time I hear it. Shit, you guys act like Akerfedt didn't spend about twenty years playing brutal ass tunes. Don't like it? Stop saying RIP and go make something better.

  • I was worried when I heard that Opeth wasn't playing metal on the new album, but now that I've given the whole cd a listen three times around, I can say it's actually a nice change. Of course there are fellow fans that will abandon Opeth for how they've changed, but oh well. Not everyone can appreciate good music and broaden their horizons, so there's no point in arguing.

  • @danzigking Agreed!

The only way Opeth could betray their fans is if they made something they themselves would not like.

  • RIP OPETH :( no metal anymore!!

  • Why couldn't he have stuck with a good mix of soft and heavy like still life, I fucking loved that album.

  • First of all fuck the op. Secondly, this album is easily as amazing as any other album they've done musically, if not more so. And lastly, they could put out a fucking polka album and it would still be one of the best releases of the year. Either you like good music or you don't.

  • So keg666 and all the other jerks here's a surprise for you : It never was your favorite band. You just happened to here 2 or 3 songs or maybe 1 CD of the 90s. Opeth in total is exactly what this CD indicates, you moron. They swap from much heavier metal kinds to the softest ballads and this is exactly why they are so fucking amazing / unique. Most of their Masterpieces are exactly like that ( Harvest and some other aint but still) and this is exactly Opeth's - my favorite's band - style.

  • Something different from what theyve done before but im enjoying it as much as all their other works Opeth is art in its purest form

  • a la verga los que no aprecian a heritage

  • I find it funny that people are freaking out so much considering this isn't a first for Opeth. I guess most of these "BRUTAL METALHEADS!" ignored Damnation, although I like this album much more and it is easily one of my favorites now. Next album will probably be in another direction or be so heavy that everyone freaks that it is too much like Bloodbath (Akerfeldt's Tech-death band), he's just a curious man.

  • While I do like this album and spent 100 on the deluxe vinyl box set I hope they dont continue with this, i do like metal style Opeth

  • if you tried to take out the bad stuff then you didn't take out any thing because Opeth is all things but bad they fucking rock

  • Now that the trolls have been fed. I do enjoy this album. As a responsible listener you should want your favorite group or musicians to show you a different facet of themselves. This album tells me a lot about mikaels perception of music from a new perspective bravo gentlemen.

  • @TheInvalid85 Shut your piece of shit hipster mouth, you fucking faggot.

  • I feel sorry for those of you who say this isn't opeth or R.I.P opeth. Really? Hmmm. I've been listening to this band since blackwater dropped. And I've anticipated every release they have produced. And its funny to note you said the same when ghost reveries came out. Then again with watershed. Hey here's a thought Beethoven had three stages of music. Do you think his contemporaries were like " oh man the 9ths ok but eh its not as brutal or as Beethoven as the emperor" lol. Silly f****.

  • The percussion in this album drives the songs to new heights during the slow parts. Mikael's vocals have become shockingly clear too. His lead guitar tone is fucking amazing. Without didn't even edit the music, or use any technology to clean it up. This is by far one of their most amazing albums. It's the most forward thinking and I applaud Mikael for having the balls to stick the middle fingers up at the record industry of today that is destroying music as we knew it.

  • You can't diss a band for changing their style a little bit after a long time in music, even though it is different, it still sounds like Opeth and they a amazing.

  • why not just listen to the song the way the band intended?

  • What "bad stuff"? This is OPETH.. There is NO bad stuff. Dork

  • opeth is no longer my favourite band :( sad day for me

  • @kegs666 you sir, are a faggot!

  • @funkin182 Cool story bro...umad?

  • @kegs666 nahbro... usad.

  • sad day for me too....R.I.P. Opeth

  • All I can say is that music players evolve and so does the people listening to music. You move from one genre to the next and find new angles in the world of music. If you dont like their new style today just wait a few years and then try again your perhaps not musicaly there yet.

Some people never evolve to a higher musical level and think MTV and popular radio is the best so dont be to disapointed if you never get it cause you are not alone there are milions out there :)

  • If you don't like this song you probably won't enjoy the rest of the album b/c it's like this, it doesn't have growls, those who expect a new damnation album are going to be really dissapointed as well as those who expect a death metal album so if you are of those people who are into progressive music go for it, but many opeth fans are going to hate it for sure btw I have the album for about a month

  • hm, they moved from the thickness of earlier opeth prog death metal to even more prog rock, technical sound. it's interesting, it makes a difference from both damnation and watershed.

  • wtf? Don't cut the song up. What's wrong with you.

  • I can defiantly respect a band that has been writing for as long as they have and also have the creativity to produce a whole different kind of sound compared to their older stuff.

  • I quite enjoy this. If you listen to bands like athiest you will se how their sound conveys the entire dusion feel. Now Opeth are defiantly NOT athiest, but i jsut pointing out that the fusion feel can work amazingly well within the rock and metal circles :) I dig it! :D :D

  • You can't say that's not akerfeldt and axe on drums that's definitely them

  • can you compare it with opeth's old stuff?where is the feeling?

  • Take out the bad stuff??????? Damned, see a doctor!

  • you're kidding right ? because this ain't Opeth

  • Comment removed

  • @bharatBhushanKonka this is definitely akerfeld. :)

  • Orchard*

  • semplicemente la miglior band della storia... 20 anni di carriera non un disco uguale all altro..

  • @5pliszer: If you smack God you get a nickle back.

  • No more Per Wiberg is going to be a HUGE bummer. Otherwise, its great to hear a moody, musical, and mysterious piece like this--even if it is cut up-- that isn't marred by the same old cookie monster silliness. I've never heard the original so this edited version is all I know. And I like it.

  • god forbid should a band evolve... they totally should be like disturbed, nickelback, godsmack, etc. and put out the same album like 2345234521354 times... its the same as hating on in flames for going lighter... who cares? they still made the shit you liked before, its not like they wont ever play it live ever again, its just to not be bored and to extend their fanbase. if you wanna listen to the same cd over and over go listen to every hardcore band because they are all the same.

  • I only liked Opeth because they were branching out to new Genres and making it their own, I love progressive metal and fucking deal with it. I used to love harsh vocals but I realized that its real lame. We all evolve, and so did this band. You sir, are a faggot.

  • Stop being pussies and just accept the fact that Opeth is progressing into something new. "Oh shit, no growls!" it's still prog metal. I can hear the obvious influence from classic prog rock bands, and besides, you haven't listened to the rest of the album yet. Seriously, quit complaining.

  • I was bummed at first because I was wanting another death metal album, but this song grew on me. It seems like this is the album showing their lighter side of non-metal influences, like Damnation, only that album was more sad. I can't wait to hear Heritage, so fuck off and go find an album that suits you, metal elitists lol

  • tried to take out the bad stuff = retard

  • 30 People don't like "Damnation" either. Obvious troll is obvious.

  • Why don't they just put PORCUPINE TREE ON THE FUCKING ALBUM COVER !!! Because evidently they've spent too much time under the thumb of Steven Wilson and he's completely rubbed off on them. OPETH IS A METAL BAND !! I love their diversity, but it seems they've "diverted" completely away from any REAL metal. Fuck you fanboy fucks, this shit sucks.

  • @BladedVaults Haha I like your comment. This doesn't really sound like PT though in my opinion. I read that Mikael was getting kind of bored of doing metal which is understandable. I prefer his metal albums but I still think this song is good. If it's the best song on the whole album though, I won't like the album. So I halfway agree with you.

  • @BladedVaults i needs muh broootsal mutttulzzz garwar because i dont know how gun do nurtung but headbangz and sit and fap in momz basemunt

  • @MrDarcyman In a way, I agree with Bladed.. and before you go saying 'ohh you're just an idiot who only headbangs' I think Burden and The drapery falls are Opeths best.. This almost isn't opeth. :(

  • @creation23 at least youre trying to like it! This other guy just doesnt have a clue. There was always a reason for opeth's progression. And he said, death metal vocals arent over forever. :) and yes, those are amazing songs. Im just a huge fan of prog as well as metal, so i guess thats why i feel so ready for the new album.

  • @BladedVaults because this is nothing like porcupine tree, moron.

  • como que las malas partes compa? estas mal, el tranajo de opeth es muy chingon no mames!!!! jajajaj XD

  • Who the hell do you think you are to "take out the bad parts"? Which "bad parts"? If you don´t like just don´t listen to it, and overall, do not upload it. Have some respect buddy!!!!

  • This song makes me want to listen to some BlueOysterCult

  • Whys everyone hating on this. Its superb. It sounds like Opeth. Experimental and eastern. Stop moaning and open your mind. I for one am so excited Opeth are taking a new direction with this new album

  • Song is great as any opeth if u like gorling go listen dimmus burger shit!

  • @olegarxus DIMMU BORGIR isn't a bad band. Great actually. But I am actually pretty curious about Heritage.

  • Great!

  • Some of you "opeth fans" are ridiculously stupid. No, I am not a fan boy, but if you were into opeth just for the growls and heaviness, you need to get the fuck out. They are a progressive metal band. Go listen to nickel back for all I care.

  • In a recent interview SW said that he's discovered and made Opeth successful.

This shows possibly his phantasies of allmightyness. His influence on the band in my opinion was important in a positive way, but now he should let them alone.

  • I dont agree that there is any bad part to the original song, but this was a great edit. By the way, Opeth is, and always will make great music. And if they fail some day Ill be the first to admit it, but theyve never wrote a bad song. I like that they explore and do different things with each album. They are one of the greatest rock bands of all time in my opinion, and have always impressed me album after album. I am really excited for the new album, always a listening pleasure.

  • oh...kay... opeth y u no metal

  • I think if you don't like a thing for its different-ness, you may not in fact be the Opeth fan you thought you were.

  • @fywdemon - I agree....most Opeth fans salivate for the experimental avenues...That is what makes Opeth who they are...their songs are an adventure that takes you everywhere! I love it!

  • Love this song

  • this is freaking amazing. holy hell i'm excited for the new album.

  • Very good!

  • watershed to this? me no like. no like.

  • too much of interacting with Steven wilson :P

  • i think opeth sounds a little like PT now

  • Something wrong with Jethro Tull?

  • I, for the life of me, cant understand why these self proclaimed opeth fans dont like this?! it's freaking awesome. this song is amazing. cant even imagine what this will sound like on vinyl. im insanely erect just thinking about it. "god is dead"...common, newbs. are you not even listening to the lyrics!? just bitchin' and moaning about how much you hate the old school prog style song structure. its freaking fresh to hear new sh*t from a trail-blazing swedish band.

  • fucking terrible, so disappointed.... what the fuck, Mikael? Do a side project if you want to experiment instead of making us wait three years for this jethro-tull bullshit.

  • Bad stuff, well fuck you! Opeth songs has NO! bad stuff!

  • Enough editing! Do you think Opeth fans are really concerned about "bad stuff?" What are you, 10?

  • my butthole smells like rotten lemons

  • Well, it's not like opeth as you think of it. But Mikael did say that he was a little tired of the heavy stuff, so he would like to try something new. Just let the artists please themselves first and evolve! ! :)

  • Its very good, but its not opeth. If it was a Mikael Akerfeldt solo release i'd like it, but its not opeth. I'm very sad about this. I dont want to wait 3 more years for the possibility of a progressive death metal album again.

  • its soo good, and soo bad.. i dont fucking know how!

  • Where the fuck are the growls? :'c

  • @Feryfeto heritage won't have any death growls.

  • @Feryfeto I read somewhere that there aren't coming any growls on the new album

  • Very interesting new 70's progressive take on classic Opeth. I'm really looking forward to this release...!

  • makes me want to take some psychedelics

  • if you really did take out the bad stuff, we would be listening the silence... Thanks anyway to show me what I should not waste my money on.

  • @ygolonacone omg u dint like :s opeth are gna stop their career for sure..as if u know what this is..stick to britney nd bieber's faggot shit :)

  • dream theater + watershed = this

  • @P3treos No. Dream Theater sucks, Opeth doesn't.

  • @Mentoelify oh, so it's not dream theater that's playing the music on the dream theater albums? Because it sure seems like it

  • @Mentoelify If you like Opeth, how can you not like Dream Theater? There is only one answer, you haven't listened properly to The Count Of Tuscany.

  • @ColonParanthese I don't like Dream Teather, because in my opinion their music is artifical and "too perfect".

  • @Mentoelify Ok, i'll aknowledge that.

  • you know its called Devil's Orchard right?

  • Wow, this sounds sooo prog.

I thought watershed was their prog influenced album but this may top that

  • u have to listen to it a few times to rlly like it

  • The sound great no matter which path the decide to take. Always a delight.

  • I absolutly Love this. This has Mikael Written all Over it!

  • Shame, shame. Opeth has always been, and forever will be, ever changing. If you can't deal with that then you clearly don't understand what this band is about. And shame for "taking out the bad stuff". You've defiled what could prove to be an essential movement of another masterpiece. Ugh.

  • although this is Opeth, its not "Opeth", but I still like it.

  • I think this song is awesome, Deliverance doesn't sound very traditional for Opeth...but its still an amazing album. 70's prog is making a big comeback with bands like Beardfish...and this album should be really good, Im excited

  • I almost thought this was Opeth's idea of a JOKE! Is this seriously the opeth....I mean THE Opeth that I got into when I first bought Morningrise or Blackwater Park???

These lyrics are a fucking joke! Wow, I'm done with this band. I should have realized this would be as bad or worse than Watershed.

I don't want to be taken back to 70's prog - it's already been done! I don't want old school prog music LOL. I just can't believe they're going this route.

This band is dead to me.

  • Ten people have Lagy Gaga in most played on their iTunes

  • fucking yes

  • It is so obviously a Opethsong... Super Cool!!!

  • Beautiful

  • this song is really great! can't wait for Heritage

  • Try to take out the BAD stuff?? You are a joke.

  • Fanboys...*sigh*

  • @Wipeout54 No doubt...fanboys are what's going to keep this band alive. I'm the BIGGEST Opeth fan (well, WAS!) and I even have to admit when I hear terrible music. It pains me to even say it but this here is NOT good music. It's a mess...I don't even know where the hell the song is going. No structure, shitty lyrics and WORSE - the parts where it shows potential seem like they're tacked on just to make the song seem better but it just pisses you off because it sucks. Ughh...

  • @CJTranceAddiction Cant say i agree with you one bit, but you are entitled to your *opinion*

  • @GeglashTheBabyStompa It's all good.

  • @CJTranceAddiction lewlelwlewlelwlewlelwelwelwlelwlew

  • @InFlames1115 are you 12?

  • @CJTranceAddiction No, i just enjoy trolling the shit out of tards like yourself :)

  • @InFlames1115 Dude, you're gonna hate on ANYONE that shows dislike towards this band. I'm fucking picky as hell when it comes to music. I guess I should just be a robot and say how much this song kicks ass just because it's from Opeth. Lol, sorry...not gonna happen.

  • @CJTranceAddiction Exactly my thinking

  • Fucking Stupid. Took out the bad stuff? You don't deserve to listen to Opeth!!!

  • What bad stuff - you've taken out a verse and repeat of the chorus - if it was bad you'd have taken it out the first time...

  • Sweet not heavy but still like what they have done.

  • There is no bad stuff ffs.
