Those protestors had blocked the busiest intersection in Melbourne for hours. They got their media coverage and mad their point. Most people supported their reason for protest. Then they refused many requests and further warnings to move on. So the city could move again, to clear the intersection, some of the remaining protestors were removed by police. It's not a pretty sight, but the rest of Melbourne wanted to get moving.

What the video fails to show is the mass amount of verbal warnings and chances that the police gave them. The police would have acted in the exact same way regardless of their ethnicity. That's how Australian police deal with protesters. If you don't want to be dragged away by police don't break the law, especially after you've been warned.
