I work for SNK and as far as graphics go they will be 3D but cel shaded to give them a 2D look. All character models are new , no more reusing 2D sprites. It is a project worked from the ground up. The battle system will be a bit different but players of the old games will still feel comfortable. As for the story it has a few twists in in that many fans of KOF may not expect. Look forward to it next year!

You're right. Maybe all the 2D fanboys will complain, but take it from me, it's a pain in the ass drawing, animating, and rendering all those sprites for each character. What's worse is that when sprite artist put all that time and effort into making these sprites, they usually end up gettin taken and stolen to be used for MUGEN or some other project that isn't from their company. I bet that's the reason why so many people are upset about 3D: It means no new sprites for Mugen characters.

2 The next GG (Guilty Gear 2: Overture) IS gonna be in next-gen 3D, so I guess this will be your demise.

3 SNK won't die as long as people still play and get better their games. Having a greater fanbase doesn't make a fighting game any better, especially when the majority of the fanboys/girls are scrubs. Also 3D is the modern dimensional of video games so I'm glad Capcom and SNK are giving them another try.

Dude, I've watched the KOFXII footage from AOU08 a dozen times now and those are definitely NOT 3D cell shaded characters. Those are SPRITES. Beautiful, glorious, fluid HD sprites.

simply put, XI was a major hit in Japan and Korea. Meaning SNKP will leave the gameplay as it is. There will possibly be minimal new characters but possibly a return of old ones. You see, SNKP is not able to improve graphics with XII as much as say SF4 only because KOF contains a shitload more characters (memory hog). But as long as the graphics are eye candy, the game is capable of going head-to-head with SF4.

sadly the real Chris character is the one in kof 97 and the evolution of him in 98 (special edition). 2002 made shit of almost all characters adding the cancel everything thing, wich stuff wasn't even tought when the chars were created. That is why is so easy to perform some combos and other are really dificult. Playmore messed up everything just to get some money out of the stupid fans, what i mean is that 2002 SUCKS and if playmore is working seriusly they will never do a special edition again

XI is great KOF03 was awsome at the time but it doesn't change the fact its still a NeoGeo game, if they don't appeal to gamers these days then KOF will continue to be an underdog fighter. It has nothing to do with making it like guilty gear.

The ultimate 2D Fighter aye? Well all I gotta say is that the sprites they so claimed they were going to revamp, are all sharp, animations as smooth as Metal Slug or even better... Backgrounds so beautifully designed in 2D it feels like your playing an anime/fighter... and uh... a lot of eye candy (lense flare and such special effects). :P

Ash Crimson and Elisabeth Blanctorche. The only thing we can REALLY say is that in this site, they're telling about the staff that will be working on this project. Nona said that they will try to make this game, hopefully, become "The Ultimate 2-D Fighting Game." at the closing KOF 2007 party. Let's just hope he's right!
