I love Greg Shorthand, and have for over 12 years now , nearly 7 days a week wrote in Greg Shorthand, and if one is going after speed, then you will have to develop many brief forms to stay with the dictation, for instance, in longhand, just as we can write the words : medical doctor, we can also brief form it with : MD, this is how shorthand works in brief form also, and the more brief forms the transcriptionist develops the faster they will be able to follow the dictation. I LOVE SHORTHAND
I started my study, quite fortunately, when I was on a gap year and had no semblance of responsibility for the first few months. Still, from my readings, I hear that students in a shorthand class could develop 120wpm in a year with only reasonable dedication.
Thats alright. Its a Fisher Space Pen, the Bullet version with PDA stylus tip. I don't recommend the stylus tip because its made of plastic and sheered off when I dropped the pen. The rest of the pen is very nicely finished stainless steel which doesn't dent (unlike aluminium).
I have made a (revised) video about Pitman shorthand, which you can find in my user channel, in 3 parts (about 25 minutes total.)
Shorthands do away with the alphabet and use strokes of various sorts to represent sounds. "Speed writing" systems still retain the alphabet or a simplified alphabet, and may indeed be easier to learn, but the shapes of the alphabet are still too complex to get to the very highest speeds of writing.
That is Gregg shorthand produced by a very expert hand.
University students looking for something to make note-taking swifter should probably look to the various speedwriting systems available. Learning Gregg would not pay dividends to the average do-it-yourselfer in time to be of use. Likewise with Pitman.
I seriously thought that was japanese for a few minutes

Hi Again,
Sorry to keep asking about them, but what kind of pen is used in this video? Is it double-sided? Where can it be purchased?
Thank you for your help!

Umm... Too long. No when I was writing this, I had been learning for 8 months. Its been 4 months since then and I'm sort of stuck at this speed.
You know.. how can you fit in your hobbies when you have hours upon hours of procrastinating to attend to.
