Most of the corporate-owned mainstream media actually toe the corporatist party line. Ed Schultz is one of the few shining exceptions.

Schultz has never bashed our troops. He bashes a government policy that has kept our troops in Afghanistan for more than nine years now, fighting a war they can't win. No one can defeat a people who are defending their own homeland and values. Others have tried and failed. It's a lesson we should have learned decades ago.

Of COURSE we should get out. And the UN should go in to stabilize the country and curb violence (against its own population) while AFGHANIS decide what kind of government they want.

All this should happen while the US pays reparations for an illegal invasion and sustained occupation. (Yes, illegal. We had, and still have, no evidence that Bin Laden had done it, that he was even in Afghanistan, or that a national invasion and occupation were better than a police effort to apprehend a small group)

The only (stated) reason we went in was to apprehend the folks we suspected of carrying out the 9-11 attacks (who have since claimed responsibility). Now they say they they are maintaining a murderous occupation of the entire country because they want to kick out the Taliban (conservative, nationalistic, religious hillbillies with guns) whose cause is emboldened, in the eyes of many Afghanis, by the US presence.
