I absolutely love this song!! Kris Kristofferson is a fabulous writer; a man who looked like a God and wrote like a prophet, he is actually a Rhodes scholar. This one is particularly special for me cause my mom's nickname is Bobbie or Bobby (her full name is Roberta). So this has certainly become a signature song (of sorts) for her. Janis Joplin's version is, I think, equally as fabulous, but of course in that one Bobby's a man so it conjures up completely different feelings for me as a wom
I had the pleasure of attending a Willie concert at South Shore Tahoe and stand down in front in my Lone Star Beer t-shirt. He pointed to my shirt and smiled and made eye contact. Great night. I'm four months older than Willie and remember when he didn't have hair. Now he's got hair and I'm bald ... LIFE IS GREAT!!!!
This is a great version, but for me nothing beats Janis Joplin version, recorded shortly before her death she puts her drug and alcohol fueled vocals to perfect use there, the male jim morrison for sure.
oh my goodness, some good guitar playing, and piano playing and all that good stuff in this song and show and performers and LOL I dont know, is just some goooooooooooooood. xo

Do Y'all know that Kris landed a helicopter on Johnny's front lawn to give him this song. Johnny was asleep so June took it and promised she would give it to him. Look what happpned. I have to mention that Kris was a Rhodes Scholer too.
Kriss wrote it but.......JANIS OWNS IT. These are four great artist that I truly admire. Great writers AND singers. Imma have to look up their opinions on Joplin's version and Joplin's thoughts on Kriss.
How nice isn't it to see performers actually love performing.. I certainly love that especially when you know the piece they are performing must be old to them as last weeks underwear. Really brilliant stuff this. Reminds me of the first time I heard Drugstore Truckdrivnin' Man Performed byt Joan Baez and Jeffrey Shurt at woodstock. This is what music is about, expressing the feelings we all share but are so hard to express some times. More people shold share like these guys!
