  • I do have fun just listening to this track 20000000000000 times (not playing cause i will never be able to do it)

  • "see how it easy it is?"

no.. I can't see how can this be easy? D:

  • those pants are awesome!

  • Ok, well, I get this awful buzzing noise off the strings hitting the frets. Riiiight. This totally works.

  • he sho'll was sweating wit that curl in that hat wasnt he lol

  • After 6:00. I jizzed my pants!

  • look! his fingers are dancing merengue!

  • Comment removed

  • he really loves his G minors man every video uses it as an example

  • He actually made a mistake, he said F# to G# was a half-step, somewhere after the 6:00 minute mark

  • The Billy Blanks of Bass!

  • 3:24 Mario just got his star

  • 0:55 he said M'KAY

  • 54 people actually tried to learn this

  • Am wondering where is the good guy who will post a link for how to play the chords??

  • @44mutu musicopedia will show you chord shapes for bass guitars with 4-6 string, and with a nice interface too. It has scales, arpeggio patterns, training tools etc. Not just for the bass either.

  • @perikoguevara789 you need to build up strength with practise, with all fingers. it may hurt, but you'll get used to it. Also, i guess a bass with a low action will help (action-height of strings from bass).

  • "See how easy it is?"

  • *_____________*

  • Pimpin the bass all night long. ;-)

  • Puff Daddy plays bass?????

  • what kind of bass do i need or what do i need to do to my bass in order to tap the high notes like he does just with his right hand with out buzzing i dont understand that please help guys

  • @perikoguevara789 I dont know if you've got any answers yet but heres my input: It really doesn't mater what kind of bass you have but the set up is what matters. You will want to lower the action on your bass (the distance between the neck and the strings) in order to tap with more ease and less vibration. but on the same note dont lower it to much or you will also have a vibration problem. and then simply play around with the setup (tone wise) and find what you like! I hope that helps! Peace.

  • @themacleodreynolds oh something he forgot to mention, unless you have adjusted your bass before and know 100% what your doing, spend some money at your local music store to get them to set it up, dont wanna break your bass now!

  • @madfunkwilly very good point :p

  • @themacleodreynolds aha yes! i adjusted one my old basses without knowing what i was doing. ended up losing intonation from open to the 12 fret!

  • i had not notice he had a hat on until he looked down!! lmao

  • go this in the mail. who boy.

  • This is amazing

I've always loved being able to play a full, well-written song on a single instrument

  • lulz he said half step up from the F# i'm going to play a G#.... silly victor thats a whole step

  • i was like this is ez but then he played the song

  • i cant even tap higher notes without buzzing, but it's SO EASY!!! HAHA

  • chulo!

  • the only thing that's easy about this is wearing a pants like that.

  • he gives the blankest face lol

  • wtf is g minor!

    (i can only play tabs)

  • @StefanS117MC seriously?

  • @StefanS117MC i believe he is playing G-7 and tapping the 3rd and 7th degrees. lol learn a bit of theory it all makes more sense after!

  • The concept of this is actually real easy but he has several decades of playing underneath his belt

  • @Skidblanar true, even a 'good' bassist will struggle with his tech

  • "My name is Cleaveland Brown, and i am glad to be!"

  • @bassmastah13 Hi, my name is Cleaveland Brown, and I'm a bass god

  • wtf? i just bought pants like that on the internet somewhere and im playing the exact same thing D:?!!

  • Fantastic teachings!

  • i love you and i will always will

  • "You'll see how easy it is" -.-

  • He is crazy. how is he gunna be like "its really easy"....yea right. i wish this came easy to me

  • i didn't learn any of these lessons except, wearing an annoying funky pants but stays cool.. :)

  • I love this guy but he is the only person who can play that on stage and get away with it.

  • @kencollapse ohohohoh! Les Claypool.

  • lol the 80's rules

  • that bass sounds sooo good

  • @AaR0n16 I Totally agree

  • @AaR0n16 its a fodera ting yang bass. looked up the prices on the fodera site. thats a 4 grand bass right there!

  • @madfunkwilly sorry maybe its not his fodera

  • this is not a lesson,, no one can play like victor wooten -____-

  • jajajajaja I agree xDDDD

  • anyone else thought he had a fro in the beginning... then i realized it was a hat

  • @TheMattboi HAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAH THATS JUST TOO FUNNY TO REALIZED GOD!!!HAHAHAAHAHA

  • Look at those pants

  • i tought that he has an afro but its a hat o.O

  • Que sensibilidade que maravilha de melodia!!!! 7:10

  • What the......my hands just died

  • The two hand tapping samba he pulls off is outrageous! Victor is an incredibly creative and inventive bass player. He's broken down barriers on the instrument no doubt about it.

  • you know what Vic? just give me your hands, then i'll be able too pull this off XD lol

  • he has some pretty bad ass pants

  • @mtb3tl he all look to be an badass :)) sorry 4 my eng. :))

  • Thanks victor wooten¡¡

  • Lesson? 20 seconds for explaining, 8 minutes to show skills :D

  • @SgtZaqq Even though your statement is funny, it's also true. Most celebrity instructional videos have the same formula. They spend more time showcasing their skill than actually teaching anything substantial. You're basically buying a personal performance showcase video.

  • What he's doing isn't rocket science, but often times technical issues affects progress. You'll likely expect to get the same tone when learning this, but may not due to things like pickups, wood, EQ, string height, etc. These things matter! Some basses play like butter others like nasty mud. He has active electronics and probably Bartolini pickups? If your string height is set too high, you'll have a hell of a time doing this. It's more than just technique.

  • @slapopimp - I agree. I have a Ken Smith 5 string bass, which is really superb for fingerstyle playing, but for tapping/slapping it is a bit lacking and certainly doesn't sound as nice as Victor's bass here. Sure, he's way better than me, but his bass also sounds better.

  • He's really right about the "easy" once you get past the Technique part, which really is the hard part, getting used to interacting with the instrument you're not familiar with, it's really much easier than it seems to get those melodies he's getting at, the notes really aren't hard, and the Technique just takes practice, again not "hard" per se, just time consuming.

I love it when Super good musicians are also good teachers. You get how they "Get it", and pretty soon, You "get it" too.

  • How easy this is depends on the quality and response of your bass. Trying to do this on a cheap quality bass will make this far more of a challenge to do. Of course, the way the action is setup on your instrument also affects the outcome. Like having your action set too high. Funny how these guys never seem to address these sorts of technical issues. I guess the fact he ASSUMES you've learned some chords... he probably assumes you have a high performance bass!

  • In Other News...

    LOOK AT HIS PANTS!~

  • i can't do that... :( he makes it look easy... but it is hard... I need to practice A LOT

  • 3:31 = Super Mario Star Powerup!!

  • Why does he sound annoyed when he says "See how easy it is" at the end. Love this guy.

  • doesn't just last 5 minutes but 8 minutes

  • i've been up a good 2 hours figuring this out 2nd day too how can anybody not like Victor Wootens attitude guy is genius, to those who say this is like porn its 100 times better probably even more addictive too.

  • Ruben Pfeffer just poped into my head dancing salsa

  • haha he said "Have Fun :) "

  • His tone and control are on another planet!

  • "it's really easy....now next, i'm gonna teach how to walk on water"....what a beast

  • He is a God-Like!

  • Does anyone know if there are any tabs for this particular song, btw?

  • Would anyone be willing to give the frets for that g minor chord? I have a hard time with chords and his hands make it hard to see the exact frets he's hitting.

  • @penspenser First he plays E15, D15, G15, then E3, D15, G15

  • Whatever Victor... Like I can do that ! You da man !

  • id tap that

  • Man, Vic. Everything is easy to you.

  • Pomału ogarnę :)

  • victor is a christian musician right

  • @ericsantiago011 does it really matter wat he is ????????? best bass player ever listen to that right there BOOM!!!!!!!!

  • ever had sex to one of his solos? major pre-ejac, no matter who you are. she barely even gets the pants off.

  • @ 3:39 he came lool!! hes one of the best bassist thats for sure

  • why do all of the comments have to be so disgusting? if you have to say that kind of thing, do it where no one like me can see it - not on videos like this that are just for entertainment purposes.

    Thanks.

  • Aw Shit... I've got a boner

  • o?ngoten toh..?

  • two handed tapping, double thumb, is alot easier that it seems. Practice practice practice...

Now Ive along way to go before I approach Wooten, but double thumb and tapping feels soooo good; theres such a tremendous tactile sensation thats just not there in standard playing techniques.

    THANK YOU VIC!!!!

  • Anybody who dislikes this obviously just failed at learning it. Or failed at clicking the like button.

  • dislikes?? wtf??

  • "see how easy it is?" ha, i wish!

  • @bassextremes22 I taught myself that arpeggio song after I watched this a while ago. It's not too difficult at all :)

  • @bassextremes22 I thought the same thing! But I tried it after I watched the video, and it's actually really easy and fun to do :)))

  • hahaha! "see how easy it is"

  • @ggordonpalmer i think i'm gonna cum

  • @b0nggggggg i was about to say the same thing :D

  • does he have something on his fingers, or are those just his nails? they look weird.

  • The God

  • ไอ่เปา

  • BASSically

  • he gets his ability from those awesome pants hes wearing lol

  • I feel good......

  • It's entertaining watching him doing things that you'll never could do.

  • "And then you wanna expand on that..."

  • when he explains it, it all seems possible after a month of practice. Then he says "and then you wanna expand on that..." and he blows your mind.

  • or the fact that watching victor play bass is bass player porn

  • Guiter Ronaldinho

  • Funkadelic Pants.

  • Does somebody knows what he put on his fingertips???

  • Yeah victor rrrreal easy =_= really....freaking....easy....

  • his fingertips are really white

  • This conversation is pointless.

  • Very pretty guy ! lol ...

  • I love how Vics said its REALLY EASY at all.

  • @isaac5909 if he says its hard then he would seem cocky :)

  • IMO best part 2:19 to 5:02. Love it

  • hes like back jesus

    not trying to be racist

  • @dude12345274 jesus WAS black. He was nothing like the good looking hippie american christians portray him to be.

he was born in north Africa, remember.

  • @beenn15 im not really religious i dont mind people that belive in religions but i rather just not worry about religion but thanks for the info sadly people have alot of different views on jesus

  • @beenn15 actually he was probably more olive skinned. having lived in the medditeranean and all

  • @beenn15 No, he wasn't. He was a semite. That means he looks someone from jerusalem with no european heritage, see: palistineans.

  • @hojima so he looked more like bin laden...

  • @beenn15 No, bin laden is arabic. I'm talking about someone who is palistinian, or simply a jew that managed to never leave the holy land. IE: Larger nose, darker skin, darker hair

  • @beenn15 actually Palestine is in Asia...

  • I really rate this tapping lesson. i learned all

  • who wishes they can play like that

  • This guy is cool!

  • Victor Wooten is God

  • He is the best bass player alive...

... unless he uses this pants and this mustache again.

  • 2:15 "it's relly easy.."

    what did u just said??:D

    love u victor!

  • OH MY GOD HE'S SO YOUNG! I love how his descriptions of the notes and instrument reinforce his obvious knowledge and love of the instrument. My son and my son's son and his son's son and so on will hopefully always love and share his music :)

  • years and years but im getting there

  • da second octave of da bass, yo

  • dear santa, i want this bass Guitar (and his talent), so if you do this for me i will be a good boy ever after... i want i want i want i want!!!!

  • It's hard to watch him playing without jizzing everywhere.

  • TROUSERS

  • i love it when he said its really easy..xDD

  • The power is in the pants

  • @darksideofthemoon7 hahahahaha

  • He wears the best clothes

  • tapping like 3 or 4 years ago at most and i suck but i started using chord tapping on bass a few days ago and knowing your spacing like that and your scales helps a whole lot,but its still difficult for me,just a few hopefully helpful words on that subject of tapped chords and scales

  • just like playing piano...only the technique is way harder not easy at all.....just got to learn to SLow IT DOWN. and then put it together. left hand is doing this.....right hand is doing that.............and this is when they are both doing this and that together....it becomes rythmic..... very much like playing piano only that bass is harder to get the notes to sound out....so play soft and turn up a little...i don't know...just trying to help.

  • @jareds1007 yea i get it,kinda hard to explain though but i see where your goin',i like to do it till i get it down and kinda second nature if you will,to the point i only need to think of the tune of said piece to play it (when im playing i think of the tune, not c#Mminor-diminished-augmented-perfect-barrechord7-inahalf.1546 note

    complicated like

type stuff, just simply the tune,i also like to record it and listen to it a few times sometimes but thats just meh, what works for some may not work

  • @kghsbassboy completely dito. i'm actually a retired bassist reborn guitarist he he :o )

  • @jareds1007 for everyone else but my favorite scale is

  • @jareds1007 damn thing wont let me post it on here! but i shall pm you this scale, you should share it

  • tricky thing about this is that youve gotta know your scales really well to keep from making it sound out of tune or shitty, its hard to explain but youve also gotta know that im on fret such and such and where exactly is 12 or x ammount of frets down from this to get the root note just right on that lower octave of that same note,INSTANTLY,which takes LOTS of practice which things are vital if your gonna be moving all over the fretboard and using lots of chords in any peice,i just started

  • it's very easy!! ahahahahahhah xd
