People complaining about ECM should really think how ECM gives more variety to fights, otherwise EVE pvp would be all a lot more boring than it is, and in fact all forms of Ewar should be more viable than they are now. Any ship with some form of ECM takes a big chunk off either its tank or its DPS, and in exchange gets something that is chance based.
What's next step once you'll have ECM nerfed (again)? Maybe take out neuts, or, why not, sensor boosters? And webs, soooo annoying! Seriously...
@androidrebel Except pretty much everybody fits ECM drones in some capacity, so the 'variety of fights' is negatively affected by them. I don't have a problem with ECM as a whole, I just have a problem with a single EC-300 being capable of jamming a carrier for 20 seconds. ;P
While I wouldn't want to completely get rid of ECM I would like to see the drones gone as any ship can carry them effectively, ECM ships let you fight a fight you couldn't otherwise due to manpower by acting as a multiplier and evening the odds a little.
That being said there is a Proteus in my home system who flies with two falcon alts at all times. We have actually set up several Celestis with 75 sensor strength and tons of damp to take the falcons out of the fight so we can get the Proteus.

You did everything right; you just got unlucky that it was an Armor Cane & that he had ECM Drones [you pointed both of these factors out]. ECM Drones are so annoying!
