The Ottoman monuments in Greece only consisted of a few mosques in the main cities such as Athens and Navplion which as I said survive. Except for Thessaloniki, Greece was a backwater so very little was built. The mosques in Thessaloniki were converted churches which were converted back after the liberation.

With due respect, I think you're brainwashed. The Ottomans were responsible or partly responsible for the destruction of the main monuments built on the Athenian Acropolis. All four were intact at the start the occupation. And nearly all Greek statuary was defaced due your religion's intolerance of the represention of the human figure. As for turkish mosques in Greece most survive minus their minarets, even though unlike our churches they were not converted.

I know there is no mosque in use in modern Athens as the moslems are new to the city. I am sure in time they will get one. The Ottoman monuments in Greece only consisted of a few mosques in the main cities such as Athens and Navplion which as I said survive. Except for Thessaloniki, Greece was a backwater so very little was built. The mosques in Thessaloniki were converted churches which were converted back after the liberation.

No, Hagia Irini, the empty church next to Hagia Sophia, which doesn't have minarets, as it was never converted into a mosque.
The Byzantine empire may have been degenerate compared to Greco-Roman culture but it was far more sophisticated and advanced than any other culture at the time. And once it fell, Greek scholars fled Constantinople with their precious manuscripts to help start the Italian renaissance.

1- Since Aghia Sophia is holy, the Turks did not demolish it (unlike the Greeks who demolished the Ottoman monuments in Greece) and just converted to a mosque. Since the Turks conquered Istanbul, it was absolutely their right to do that. None of the Greek monuments were demolished - they are all preserved.

I could never support Terrorism and I don't know enough about the PKK and their actions, but all I know is that in 1821 the governments France, Britain and Russia branded Greek revolutionaries as terrorists until public opinion swayed their views. it is obvious that they taught you the history the WRONG way. Refer to an objective history book and you'll see that Ottoman Empire was highly recognized for its tolerance to the MINORITIES, including the Greek. That's why the Turks did nothing bad to the Greek. Any objective history book can give you this information.

If the Ottomans had been cruel to the Greeks, the Greeks would have obviously been assimilated and could not have even survived to our date - as a reasonable person, you can at least think of this.
Unfortunately, some fascist Greeks still claim Istanbul is theirs just because of the fact that they cannot stand the Turks, against who they have been filled with unreasonable enemity and racism. I expect you to sit down and think a little objectively.

Definitely NOT. Why do not you hit some history books to read about the Lozan Pact in 1923? You'll discover it then... Besides, there are still many Greeks in Turkey. That's why Turkey gave 4 points to Greece in Eurovision S. C. 2007 :))

True. the genocide was alot slower and took about 500 years.One and a half million were deported in 1923 with the population exchange and the rest were finished off with the 1955 pogroms in Constantinople which saw hundreds of Greek businesses and churches looted.
