I had a small dog and an incredibly smart cat that used to do this. The cat instigated it as often as the dog, and she was the one who usually ended it. It was really fun to watch. And it was VERY obvious that they were enjoying it too.

It's probably obvious to anyone who has had cats (I've had eight of them over the years), that cat was definitely not being hurt, nor was it trying to injure the puppy. When cats fight for real, they're REALLY aggressive and there's all kinds of howling and hissing and hair flying around. This cat was playing, and could have run for it at any time if it wanted to. It looks a couple of times as if it wants to go do something else, but at no time is it distressed or afraid.
The cat was fine. You can tell when he's walking that he's fine -- his tail was up. That's the cat equivalent of a dog wagging his tail. Also, at any point, the cat could have jumped up on a table. Yeah towards the end the cat started to look annoyed, but that's cats, period. They're fine, they're just playing. That's how animals play. They aren't going to break out a Ninetendo Wii and start bowling or some shit.
I will submit that they were playing rough. However, with animals when it gets serious, it gets life and death serious. And from what I saw neither of them were attempting to inflict mortal damage.

I agree with cillysunt. The cat tried to get away many times, not once did I see it playfully pounce on the dog. Its ears were laid back on its head and its body was stiff throughout the entire video. Also, the dog kept biting its ears, which I am sure it did not enjoy. I think the owner should have separated them, you could tell the cat was getting anxious.

I had a small dog and an incredibly smart cat that used to do this. The cat instigated it as often as the dog, and she was the one who usually ended it. It was really fun to watch. And it was VERY obvious that they were enjoying it too.

Yeah the cat's playing identically to how mine all play when play fighting, ever stuck your hand in when a cat is hitting the other cat with it's hind legs? it's usually just their soft paws getting you... as someone else said, the cat would rip him to shreds

wow you need to study their body language a little bit more before you post something as ignorant as this. it's basically the same as brothers fighting. they won't do any harm to each other, it's play. just because they don't have hands and they use their mouths doesn't mean they aren't playing. go...somewhere with that.

Exactly. They are being likened to hunan siblings fighting, only humans have a much better understanding of the consequences of their actions.
What it does have in common with such "scraps" is that one side can be over-zealous and things can escalate. Hence, it is irresponsible of the owner to allow it to continue.

Cookielove has a pint it's the same with my cat Gizmo and my 2yo sister. Aimee is rough with him and he dabs he but he rarely hurts her, there been one or two times where he's scratched her but it was only lightly on the hand

Yeah, you can tell the cat wasn't serious. I think it understands that the pup is fiesty, but still young. I agree that if the cat were serious it would have really hurt the puppy. There's a saying concerning "cornered cats" after all. ;)

Extreme!! The puppy dominated the cat. Great take downs, very active on the ground and standing. The cat has a good ground defence and some nice moves, was very flexible. But you could tell his heart wasn't in it and tired very quick. Did the cat actually go to sleep at one point. LOL!!!

they were just playing but if they were fighting that cat would win the first second, a bite in the dogs neck. Thats how they hunt. Once i came back from scool and saw my cat on my porch with a raccon lol bigger then my cat. There were 4 big bite holes in the raccons neck lol.

It's probably obvious to anyone who has had cats (I've had eight of them over the years), that cat was definitely not being hurt, nor was it trying to injure the puppy. When cats fight for real, they're REALLY aggressive and there's all kinds of howling and hissing and hair flying around. This cat was playing, and could have run for it at any time if it wanted to. It looks a couple of times as if it wants to go do something else, but at no time is it distressed or afraid.

The cat was fine. You can tell when he's walking that he's fine -- his tail was up. That's the cat equivalent of a dog wagging his tail. Also, at any point, the cat could have jumped up on a table. Yeah towards the end the cat started to look annoyed, but that's cats, period. They're fine, they're just playing. That's how animals play. They aren't going to break out a Ninetendo Wii and start bowling or some shit.

I will submit that they were playing rough. However, with animals when it gets serious, it gets life and death serious. And from what I saw neither of them were attempting to inflict mortal damage.

the cat was play fighting, you guys are idiots. When cats flip on their back and lock part of the opponents body with the mouth and front claws, they repeatedly kick into the opponent's body with their hind legs. The cat positioned, but did not strike. Cat's don't piss around if they are really mad, this one was not. Also, cat's hiss and go mental, this one did not.

I agree with cillysunt. The cat tried to get away many times, not once did I see it playfully pounce on the dog. Its ears were laid back on its head and its body was stiff throughout the entire video. Also, the dog kept biting its ears, which I am sure it did not enjoy. I think the owner should have separated them, you could tell the cat was getting anxious.
