I was getting sick watching you hurt your poor cat!!! You stupid woman - can't you read instructions??? Couldn't you see that you were hurting the poor thing?? DON'T comb in one spot, STOP using SO MUCH pressure!!! I'd love to use the FURminator on your head to see if you enjoy the same pain you just made your poor cat feel!!
Be gentle and use nice light strokes. Don't brush too much in one spot. Properly combed you won't have to worry about matting fur for another few months.
You should not put such weight on the comb. Nor should you comb the same place over and over again. Whit your tecnique you will easily damage the cats skin. Look at the other videos of cats being treated by the furminator. They are more gentle.
The Furminator is a great tool however, it IS a blade, just like the blades on clippers used for grooming. It works by removing the undercoat of the fur without damaging the top coat. If you use it too roughly, yes it can hurt just like a clipper blade would. It shouldn't be used more than weekly because any more than that and you can start to damage their top coat.
I just got the furminator today, and my cat does the same thing. I have to hold him down and make sure my hand's away from his mouth, or else he'll nip and swat at me. I feel bad it makes him grumpy, but man is it worth it! It takes so much fur off of him. My cat's a bad shedder.
don't worry, it doesn't hurt the cat. mine loves it, and it really stops shedding. all brushes pull the hair, but it does NOT pull it out. i was worried too, but looking at my kitty's skin after using it, it showed absolutely no signs of irritation. It wasn't even red!
I'm thinking of buying one but it looks like it hurts the cat. I'm torn between buying and not buying, since i've also read reviews that says that it pulls on the hair (ergo, it does hurt) and that it shouldn't be used on their tails.
Cats are supposed to enjoy grooming..this one is most certainly not.

Way too hard, it's a great tool but not so much pressure and your cat may enjoy it a whole lot more
