An internet phenomena is more like a simple home video like the numa numa guy. Herpes Boy followed a story, it was a web series.

Reading the script I thought it was quite good and funny. Why shouldn't be a movie because it started from the internet? The internet is one way to broadcast to people. That shouldn't deem it a lesser quality. There has been plenty of internet web series that have made it into successful television.

There are plenty of web series that are good--We Need Girlfriends, Chad Vader, Snowmen Hunters--that are fine leaving the Net because they have stories, they have plots, they have more to them than a kid in front of a camera. They're successful as TV shows because they were filmed and produced *as* T.V. shows and not as Vlogs. HerpesBoy is a vlog. And vlogs are not interesting enough to be movies.

Herpes Boy the movie is based on the character of Rudolph Murray. The web series (or Vlog) is simply a basis for the story. I assure you, there is a significant plot. It's a well written script that attracted a lot of attention from known actors. Once the film's website is up, you will be able to see all of this. I hope you will take a look at it and see for yourself.

I know that it's just the basis of the story. I watched the trailer. That doesn't alter my opinion or perspective of it at all.

There isn't going to be any mind-blowing story behind the movie. It's not going to make me want to rush out and see it or even go and see it at all. It's sarcastic Juno meets "like me because your friends do" Napoleon Dynamite meets Hollywood trying to cash in on what's "hip" with the Internet. It's a threesome of the worse things possible.
