*Deep Sigh* UPS is ridiculous. I paid $12.65 for UPS shipping on a ~$89 purchase where the package that weighs 4 lbs, and they are charging me $43.65 for brokerage and Tax. (Tax should be no more than $14).
This happend to me today. Bought an item worth $145 shipped it for $30 and they said i have to pay $63 COD. But its not like i didnt have the cash. I did, They said I had to pay with Credit Card or Cheque. What BS
this needed to be said, I got charged $40 fees for a $50 package, on top of $20 shipping charge. All it takes to fclear customs is fill out a fucking piece of paper takes no more than ten minutes and they want to charge $30 for it, Biggest bullshit company in the world I will also make a video to let people know about how ups rips people off. PLEASE DO NOT USE UPS!!!!!!!!!!!
i bought a computer for $950 off cyberpowerpc which is in california and i had them ship it to canada (through UPS and i paid $95 for ground shipping) took 2 weeks to get to my house when i was told i owe UPS an extra $200 for brokerage fees, government taxes and levies or whatever the fuck.. what i wanna know is why do they charge 25% the cost in taxes? i thought taxes was no more than 8%?
Local was looked at, but couldn't get what was wanted quickly, or at anywhere near the price. Even with the outrageous UPS brokerage fees, it was cheaper and quicker - but on principal, won't pay brokerage fees that exceed the shipping cost, especially on small items. USPS is the best, often as fast as UPS and on <$100 packages even GST usually is waived, no brokerage. But many Yank companies have exclusives with UPS - they get great rates, but the recipient gets soaked huge with extra fees.
Item 2 has nothing to do with UPS? YOU MORON. UPS is being sued for this right now! Holding packages hostage until they get their unreasonable 'brokerage' fees. This is well known by those who do ship lots across the border, NEVER EVER use UPS!!!!!. US Post never has these fees. UPS never delivered anything without their hand out at my door. Just google class action UPS for more info.
Two Comments - First: Tammy is right - the brokerage fees with UPS are the worst of any shipping company - I've had enough stuff shipped and I know this all too well. Second, Tammy - maybe you should look at buying local because the price probably wouldn't have been that different by the time you were done.
fuck ups $22 for a $20 order

Thanks for the vid. Tammy; You rant on!
We never agreed to a brokerage fee when we signed up for the shipping. Who forces you into a contract, besides extortionists?
They have the highest brokerage fee in the industry! RIP OFF!

Tammy, there are two distinct parts of the costs you were charged.
1) shipping charges charged upfront by the printer.
2) brokerage, duty & GST that is charged at the border.
Item #2 has nothing to do with UPS. It would not matter which brokerage house the shipment was processed by, charges would have been the same.
Brokerage fees are a result of Canada Customs, as are duties and GST.
Each package entering Canada is srutinized & without brokerage houses shipments would never clear.
