This personifies the culture problem is the USA, tbh. We in Europe don't need vehicles like this because the policing tactics are better. The gun culture of pollce and civilians, and the general attitude of the police in the USA in general, is the reason your crime rates are so high.
Well, learn your facts before you talk about "the general attitude of the police in the USA in general". Do you think that no other country has riot vans or S.W.A.T trucks? Just last week there was a riot in Berlin where more than 20 officers were injured. about half of them were in the way of the high pressure hoses on top of a riot van. So just before you start criticizing another country your not from, learn your facts and learn your grammar.

We had a law here during our civil war that anyone not in police or army found with a gun was liable to be executed. That killed any gun culture stone dead and now to have a gun without a licence - or even with one - carfries a huge, huge stigma and massive jail sentences. You guys say you need them for defence but that SHOULDNT HAVE to be the case. Bad planning.
@stedon101 what happens when foreign gun runners show up, i guess you can call on ASU (you're version of SWAT right) but my point is that even if you're gun laws are so strict what if someone from a foreign country shows up with a gun then what do you do. Around here our first responding officers are very well armed with sidearms, M870s and AR-15 or M4A1s and are able to handle most situations with out calling in ESU(NYPD's name for SWAT)
@TheTRAVISJUNIOR In a city environment, you'd be calling in any incidents involving a firearm immediately and the first response would be armed detectives with G17's or SIG P226's. Shortly after that, you'd have an RSU or ERU (basically a 2-man SWAT team) arrive carrying, taser, beanbag, Glock 17 and H&K MP7's.
Typical response time in Dublin for an armed detective to show up is going to be max 3-4 minutes as they are always out and about, and based in stations also.

P.S. MP7s really, haven't heard of police carrying those its usually the MP5 but i've fired them both and the UMP and personally i would go with the MP5 but thats just my prefrence

We have ASU (armed support units) that are moments away and also all detective Gardaí carry glocks. No culture here that requires weapons and thats my point. I'm not criticising you guys individually but I do criticise your over-reliance on guns which was caused by bad governance in the past, from 1776 on
