  • ke5492,

i have respect for your telescope,

    really nice job man,

    but can you tell me,

what i need to grind a mirror for telescope

i have no idea how to grind,

    and what i need,

can you plz tell me the name's of the stuff that i need?????????? plz?

    bye byee.,.

  • wow good job

  • Great job! Always great to see a home-made scope.

  • Is anyone having trouble seeing anything through their telescopes these days? How's your visibility?

  • Are you from Danmark :) det jeg :P

  • yes I'm from Denmark.

    Hvorfra i Danmark kommer du?

  • The reason your mirror did not polish right out to the edge is because your lap facets did not reach the edge of the tool. Working with tool regularly on top would have helped to polish the mirror to the very edge. The mirror will still work very well with only a small lost of contrast if the figure is okay. Enjoy your telescope and your superb dome.

  • Thank for your comment. Next time my miror have to be aluminized I will try to polish as you recomend.

  • Peshmarga, the mirror is curved. the larger the mirror, the harder it is to get it curved perfectly. It's quite a project and you'd really have to know what you're doing.

  • It is first time I tried to grind a mirror, but the next mirror will be 16" at least ;-)

  • hey ke6492 can i ask

how do you haved make the mirror for the telescope?

is that a special mirror or a normal?

im trying to make one n my own

but i just need a mirrori hope i get an answer back soon

    greetings

  • If you are using a Newtonian optical system, the mirror is supposed to be parabolic in shape. If you use a really long focal ratio like over f/8, you can get away with a spherical shape without too much loss of resolution due to spherical aberation. If you didn't make a telescope before, it takes some handy work. Start with buying all the parts premade. If you really want to make the mirror, it helps to have a scope ready as a test bed for your new mirror.

  • To joshig1983 - it is hard to do, but I am trying to parabolizing the miror because it is f:4,5. I think I have to try one more time.

Tricyklist recomend me to grind with the tool on top. I think he is right.

  • Great looking scope , well done .

  • Thanks to Francis for your comment, I have seen some of your videos on youtube, they are very great and I will recomend them if anybody planed to make their own mirror.

Thanks to fnherstalpatriot and bankeh for yours comments too.

  • This is a test post-video

  • This is a great video. Your workmanship is excellent. The ring around the edge of the mirror is due to insuffucuent polishing. Thank you for sharing this video.

  • Id be mighty proud for makign this, and even adapting to the issue you had with the primary. Hopin to build one next summer, but have to think it all out

  • It is okay video - but image-quality can be better.
