  • geo ji geo

  • mind forwarding his best to hands and throat forwarding his best to mouth = this performance

  • thumbs up if you think they both kissed at 4:50 lol

  • @Kas1mBoy wow...you are really sexually oppressed if you think that was a kiss. I know in your culture kissing and stuff is taboo. But you do have access to the internet. Learn what kissing is and then make comment.

  • @pritpalc Take it easy...I didn't mean literally lol

  • Shafqat is like a kid for Tari Khan sahab since Tari sahab used to play with his fathers, still Khan sahab is enjoying the performance as always and encouraging the boy constantly.. dont mean any disrespect to Shafqat but this is not what his family (Father) is known for.. His great father Ustad Salamat Ali is probably the greatest genius of his time thus I personally think, Shafqat has to do a lot more in order to fulfill the responsibility on his shoulders.

  • shafqar is nice singing but Tari is samnadar and much more than shafqat

  • All Is best PerFormnce while Tari Khan the Lagend Is Putting such tonting face expression on shfqat is feeling very less against tari khan,,and feelng the heat that i have started some thing very small or minor with tari khan and is doing MUch TS of tari khan.

  • What an amazing performance. They show that they are having fun by smiling and moving with the music. Now THAT'S what virtuosity is all about, concentrating without looking like they are concentrating. beautiful work, hope they are even more successful!

  • no disrespect, but it is funny that Shafqat Khan ji dances while singing

  • Simply Amazing. Ustad Tari is one of the best tabla players but Shafqat Ali Khan is such an amazing singer himself. He has so much control over his voice. So sad Pakistan doesn't cherish this great musical talent.

  • @aristotlenet cmon who says that Pakistan doesnt cherish this great musical talent? its not true.

  • Tari... master of rhythm... master of lay.. no match... tarri was fit with Janab Ghulam Ali Only its not a perfect match ...khaan Taari ji.... khaan shfaqt ali.. he is abhi bachaa...in front of jannab Taari ji... Kulwant sarwara

  • i doubt u even heard him singing classical music. Very few singers can match him. Ustad tari must have heard him.

  • I agree. Ustad Tari Khan Saheb has heard him indefinitely. Ustad Shafqat Ali Khan Saheb is an amazing classical vocalist.

  • That must be it. Or Ustad Tari took pity on him.

  • must hav paid Tari Saheb really well eh!

  • Punjabiprinze sahab, bhai baaki ka tappa bhi laga dijiye to meharbani hogi.

  • hmm this is nice song yarr

  • Tootaaa haryala tota

Sajan ta sada C ja gharan naal khalota

  • Sorry, no disrespect to Shafqat Ali Khan but this song is good only because of Tari.

  • i am not agrey with this coment so thats why i think u really didint understan his tons (rags) lot off work thare tari did very good job to no q

  • @marx99 Shafqut is cooking the recipe and ustad tari is adding the flavour but both are neccessary one cant do withought the other, so the song is a sucess because of both of them.

  • Thanks for posting... what a man!!!!

  • Love this one, thanks for posting!

  • hahahahha.. that is so true..

  • Shafqat ali is good singer,, but in start he says,, i will sing dadra as such a artist(tari khan is playing tabla) so light taal dadra,, he could sing in rupak or atleast kerva,,, but this song is good song,, i like it ,, tari sahib is a bit bored with this straight taal

  • lol at the start it looks like taris thinking hurry up and let me play my section

  • Shafqat Ali Khan looks like a pigeon lol

  • this pisses me off about some singers /artists.(no matter how great they are) punjabi is his native toungue, he's about to sing in punjabi..yet he has to fuckin explain in urhdu...and in NO WAY what so ever am I trying to put Urhdu down, all i'm saying is that everyone should be proud of their native languages, and speak them with pride...

  • My friend, can't you imagine that the audience in fact understands Urdu better but is just as open to hearing music in its sister languages? That includes Internet audience like me!

  • ok...if your first language is Urhdu, and ur about to listen to a Punjabi song..that means that you must understand Punjabi just as well as Urhdu, am I right? if thats the case, you still don't need the Urdu explanation(again not being disrespectful, I infact like speaking urhdu myself) and besides he even said "Aise log baithe hain ,toe aise cheez zarooree hai" that means there are infact punjabi ppl in the audience...

  • His "aisay log..." comment is directed to Tari Khan, see his hand gesture.

Take my example. I only partially understand Punjabi. But when I feel the need of istaghraaq (immersion) in the music I listen to Punjabi or Saraiki music, and when its about enjoying raags and technicalities its Urdu ghazals', taranas' and thumris' turn.

Hope you understand my POV. I love hearing both of these languages, and some others as well.

  • ha ha ap nay tarana aur thumri jis language mein sune ha wo urdu nuhe.

pure rages to urdu ke paydiash (birth) say b puranay han i mean khayl aur dhurpad are'nt in urdu

  • I agree..i only speak English and i enjoy both languages...Urdu and Punjabi....

  • Chill out theandhadnaad. Punjabi will survive

  • i think people speak urdu out of formality. nothin wrong. otherwise they speak punjabi casual with friends and stuff.

  • without rhythm singing is nothing.... rhythm carries the singer and audience enthusiasm

  • Its Ustad Tari's tabla! Dont expect it to be lower than the singer's volume! KNOW THAT ABOUT HIM!!

  • Very very wonderful , great , the harmonium and the tabla are so great + the vocal . great

  • It is difficult to enjoy good singing when rhythm is so loud. the rhythm should stay at it's place, in my opinion.

  • Hey !HSPabla ? you idiot don't have the sence of rhythm . the song is better when those instruments are played together with high rhythm combination .

  • Aa taan baai 3 rate singing va.

  • outstanding singing

  • Hammerguy, if truth is my witness, what fear do I have of losing credibility with those who go hammer and tong in a blind rage. There is no rule in the history of the learned discourse that 'legends' are immune to genuine criticism. Show me but one example of USA having sung Tappa and I will apologize and immediately stop mailing further critiques of USA. He himself concedes in an interview uploaded on youtube that this was one genre of music that he had never attempted to imbibe let alone sing.

  • There is an obvious problem in the information attached. Punjabiprinze informs us that what Shafqat is singing here is a Punjabi tappa. In fact Punjabi tappa has never been sung by any of the Sham Chaurasi wizards. In the Hindustani classical music, tappa ang has been preserved by the Gwalior gharana. If you wish to get a glimpse of this style, you may access Girija Devi, LK Pndit, Meeta Pandit or Sunanda Sharma's rendition of this genre on the internet.

  • I am thoroughly and hugely enjoying this performance. I have a happy grin on my face, and I'm not worried for the first time today! Many many thanks. I also appreciate your detailed, cogent notes. I llike knowing what I'm listening to, and your smart annotations are hugely helpful.

  • Great to know all that. To each his own.

  • Your comment Mr Saifabdulla reflects the mindset of someone living in the dark ages - totally tribal in its insensitivity to the feminine gender. I can only pity you. May the Prophet (PBUH) show you the right path.

  • There are many problems with Shafqat:

    1) His tonal quality is flawed. It goes dead and metallic at crucial moments

    2) He isn't rated at all highly as a classical singer. Go around and ask the conoisseurs. If he were, he would get invited to the finest festivals of classical music.

    3) His relationship with the text he sings is one of complete insensitivity. He keeps on creating totally unnecessary embellishments and indulges in useless gimmicry of taans.

  • I see you've taken the pain of commenting Shafaqat so many times on this video. I do uderstand that this is a very cheap Ghazal. But my friend why all this bad blood did he bang your sister or something?

  • saifabdulla: ur comment made me laugh so hard now stomach hurt :)

btw nice song don't care much about these technical nonsense to me it is pleasing to ears so their you have it

  • Its Very Very good .... He is very good Classical Singer

  • Ich stimme darin überein, daß Tabla Taris schön ist, aber Shafqats das Singen pathetisch ist.

  • spielt sehr schön tabla. Tari macht interssanter.

  • If indeed Sham Chaurasi is a dhrupadiya gharana, where is the dhrupad ang in their gayaki? There is absolutely nothing to suggest their linkage to the dhrupad style in any manner whatsoever. In fact, I will go a step further and question their credentials even as khayal singers. How many ragas have they credibly sung in all their lives? Could you in terms of their range place them next to Gwalior, Agra or Jaipur gharanas? They lack of cogency of classical structures.

  • I hope your not talking about Ustad Salamat ali khan/Nazakat ali khan, If that is the case you have lost all credibilty, I agree with everything else you said, But Ustad Salamat ali khan, cannot be criticized, he is legendary.

  • NICE AND GAY...zzZZzz...

BUT HONESTLY, THE GUY HAS A GREAT VOICE, CAN'T DENY THAT!

  • what a performance kya baat hai

  • Nice very nice!!

  • singer ji looks like a joker.

  • This Shafqat fella is totally crass. Ask him why he is playing so much with the word 'sharaabi'. Shows he has no musical head on his shoulders. He is more a wrestler than a singer. This in fact is the problem with most Sham Chaurasi singers. Their singing has no thought. It is all musical jugglery. Nothing more.

  • Bahut halki gaayaki. Useless decorations and absolutely bereft of soul. He should be questioned why, for instance, is he pushing the 'jiven phull gulaab fajar da' - does he want to trample the fragility of the flower with his totally unnecessary taanbaazi. The fellow needs to grow up. Seriously.

  • very nice

  • HOW BEAUTIFUL!

  • Yet another truly amazing voice.

  • wow great i love it ...

  • zaid its me mustafa

  • subhanaAllah bahot acha a piece of class

  • fantastic!!! this type of singing is so easy for them , their just having fun.

    thank for the upload.

  • Ustad Tari saheb and Shafqat Ali both are great together. Ite really wonderful to see artistes enjoy their music as this duo are obviously enjoying very much.

  • can someone tell me more or less what year (or decade?) this is from? thanks.

  • very great voice and great tabla also ...

  • baaaaaaa

  • shafqat can never acheave the level of his father Ustad Salamat ali Khan sahib.. He`s a shame.. a son of such a big ustad.. Allah karre uska talent barjaii

  • nice aesthetic presentation from Ustad Shafqat Ali Khan & Ustad Tari Khan - giving a new dimension to dadra - just unique - mithoo

  • I received a CD of Shafqat Ali Khan (Sublime Sufi) as a Christmas gift and I immediately fell in love with it. A few months later I introduced myself to his uncle's music, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. Remarkable.

  • Very nice gift for holidays

  • Thank you for this gift. Merry Xmas and a happy new year!

  • good.

  • Very nice! Thanks for sharing. Just one nit pick - in your notes you refer to this as "vilambit dadra". I'd say the speed was "madhya" if not "drut"!

  • nice upload.
