Umpiring is not about showboating, nor is it about always being mechanically by the book. i dont see why everyone's making this guy out to be a showboat kinda guy, each umpire has his or her own style calls.
Because it is bush league mechanics. That is why you don't see umpires "put on a show" because most want to work big time games, and that showboating is frowned upon.

and if people wanted to see what he is well known for, then he would tend to do it more often, and maybe any starting pitcher would get about 10 strikeouts per game with him behind the plate.
