  • Pleasantly surprised to read that this song was from the Sgt. Pepper sessions. Upon listening to all the instruments used as well as sound effects. It's all there. George was allowed his one token tune-per-album.

  • harrison, you are a true man.

  • I wish they released the 3D version of Yellow Submarine...NOT!

  • The first time I saw this, I was on acid. I laughed my ass off the entire time. The Beatles had it absolutely right back then.

  • The Beatles-Those who just didn't give a shit, And we loved them for that very reason.

  • @ffairlane57 I see what you did there. :3

  • I later took some literal salt, NaCl, Sodium Chloride, whatever you wanna call it, and sniffed it into my nose. It BURNED LIKE HELL!!!!!

  • @glasspurpleeyes you're supposed to use bath salts. duh. :/

  • @atomicwave Dude all I did was put my purple glasses on, then this video, and I lost myself. Still the greatest music video.

  • I'm SO trippy!!

  • WTF what is that thing??? @2:28

  • man the beatles were something else

  • This is an awesomely psychedelical song!!

  • When I watched this movie on LSD and this song came on, I melted. I no longer knew what was real. It was beautiful.

  • @atomicwave took you hell of a time then, the whole movie is trippy

  • ive never heard this song before

  • If you are reading this comment you may think the words are not quite right, but they are, I just wrote them like that. If you notice this notice, you will notice that this notice is not worth noticing

  • yes this song does turn you into a rainbow, it turned me into an onion!

  • @owenonion , it turned me into cranberry sauce.

  • @ffairlane57 It turned me into a newt! (i got better...)

  • epic ending

  • I saw this movie when I was ten. It was really odd but I enjoyed nevertheless.

  • this is fucking psychedelic

  • Is it only me or does this song turn you into a rainbow?

  • <3

  • THIS SONG IS EPIC.

  • LOL. I was gritting my teeth watching this REALY stoned. It was dope.

  • i can sorta see where led zeppelin got inspiration to write " your time is gonna come" maybe im the only one.

  • They didn't have to put this on Sgt. Pepper's, they should have waited until Magical Mystery Tour. Magical Mystery Tour was a bit short anyway.

  • @corydonald1 It wasn't on Sergeant Pepper's. It didn't appear until Yellow Submarine.

  • @IanThal I know, but they were thinking of putting it on.

  • This is probably one of the BEST psychedelic pieces of animation ever made!!

  • @vmanbeatles - then why would George and Ringo play on 'How Do You Sleep' and other John songs (after they broke up) while staying well clear of Paul's material?

  • @raywdown So you're saying that George and Ringo were sort of pissed at Paul??

  • @raywdown You are right and aren't at the same time. John and Paul were very superior towards George and Ringo. George Martin supported that, even if it was unintentional. The difference between them was that John was more of an easy-going musician. Paul was a workaholic and he knew exactly what he wanted and he wouldn't rest until he achieved that. He wasn't easy to work with. Probably still isn't.

  • @raywdown becuase paul was still alive to play them himself?

  • The best song they ever done... grollocks to Paul and John.

  • It didnt fit in with sgt pepper but they shouldve put it on magical mystery instead of yellow submarine

  • SSSSSSSSSSOOOOOOOOOOO FRICKIN GREAT!!!!!

  • I can imagine Paul and John making fun of the way George writes music and the way he dresses, and about his hair, and a sad George walking away to write this song.

  • @Abe91195 john would cause he was a douche bag to George and Ringo. Paul wasnt though.

  • Is this slower than the anthology version?

  • @Abe91195 Yeah

  • Man its crazy how George Harrison just wrote down what he really feels and then it turns into a really great sounding song.

  • It's a send-up of the kind of psychedelic stuff Lennon was producing at the time.

  • One of the Beatle's best songs. Way to go, George! VERY underrated song. I like the original version a little better, though. Especially the keyboard parts.

  • This brings back fond memory's of my life back then

    Beautiful words

  • "The sea of science!"

Then the submarine leaves a sideways crucifix in its trail.

    Oh, the irony....

  • Everybody argues about what the song was about or why etc etc. But judging by this video in particular, I think The Beatles just took a lot of acid! lol

  • @bieberfever1171 fuck you, what are you even doing here, get the fuck off

  • @bieberfever1171 how many years have the beatles been popular? 50. and 10 years from now, they will still be more popular than ever. But justin bieber, just like the jonas brothers did, will go out of style in a few years, and you'll never hear from him again. BEATLES FTW!!

  • @LolaLavonda he isnt a bieber fan he really loves the beatles he is jocking us

  • @rombosman89 i sure hope so, but considering his username is 'bieberfever1171' i doubt it.

  • @LolaLavonda see his channel at information and the videos he has uploaded

  • I love Revolution #9. LOL

  • @TheCersoLox Revolution #9 RULEZ!

  • George wasn't pleased at having to write a song for the movie (yellow submarine) and made his feelings clear on this track about the beatles' publishing company, Northern Songs.

  • Is this George hving a go at Paul and John for writing all the songs?

  • George. The most underrated Beatle. I like songs done by Paul and John, but Geoge's songs are the songs that get stuck in your head because they are so damn catchy.

    GEORGE<3

  • @jajerome2011 the fact that you failed to even mention Ringo says it all.

  • @jpsplat thats very true, he's underrated, but george is better than ringo in my opinion at creating music and enchanting the soul, ringo is goofy and brightens your day. but george's songs just fucking stick, this, something, if i needed someone, while my guitar gently weeps, As examples lol.

But as a true beatles fan i like every song ever made by them.

  • @jajerome2011 except for Revolution # 9. No one likes Revolution #9.

  • @jpsplat haha, i tripped acid and listened to Revolution #9.....dont do it. its scary, i got like 2 minutes in and said fuck it, im scared! lol

  • @jajerome2011 Revolution 9 scared me at first but then I saw it for what it really was and it is tremendous. Its a pretty exciting ride with ups and downs and crazy visuals.

  • @angerjohn yeah, i was scared but im going to keep trying to listen to it trying to find new meanings. Im a believer that every single beatles song has a meaning, including Revo 9, i am the walrus, come together, and fucked up songs like that lol. but i'll never believe john lennon in his interviews because why would a magician reveal his greatest tricks?

  • @angerjohn you want to know the meaning... Drugs

  • @jpsplat Revolution 9 is everything

  • wooooooooooooo like if your a northerner!!!

  • When the flashing green and orange square comes up, it's fun to pause it and see if you get green or orange. Hahah.

  • @xFightingBeaver2 I got green! :-D

  • Can y'all just please enjoy the music and not argue? This is a really cool song. :] Just chill, guys...

  • good beatles!

  • Harrison did only own 1,6% of his own songs in his contrakt whit "northern songs". This song was his last before the contrakt was over.

  • George Harrison: genius.

  • dodo im sorry. NOW GO FUCK YOURSELF!!!

  • Even Harrison's deliberately atonal vocal fascinates.

  • ill watch this over and over and its fine i only have a mild seizure every time :p

  • 1 person has noever done drugs

  • calm down people and listen to the song

peace is what the beatles want from there songs

    not this

  • ZBraun95: Northern Songs was The Beatles song publishing company. ; P

  • The Beatles: So awesome, they created the scene demo 30 years before home computers existed!

  • One the greatest and most underated LSD songs of all time....

  • Northern Song is a company that was made to publish Lennon-McCartney Songs

  • where did you get the stereo mix version?

  • The symbolism in this is ancient and amazing.

  • 0 thumbs down... that says it all

  • From what I've read, think they all got ripped off by "Northern Songs" management. Think George is giving voice to the collective view here. Lennon/McCartney owned 30% of the shares ~ hardly controlling. As Lennon said, they were merry little popsters at that time, not businessmen. John and Paul sold theirs for £3.5mill George and Ringo kept their paltry 1.6% of shares ~ wonder if they eventually came out tops in this respect?

  • I got yer prog rock right'chere!

  • what doies the sea of science have to do with science bersisdes the name

  • @countryandpivot Because it explains science in the song.

Hey, it doesn't matter what words I say. It's just a northern song. :P

  • @Oakscreator123 thats what i figured i just wasnt sure XD

  • Great job George!!!!! He did fantastic!!! He is an amazing singer!!!!

  • half a step down from the anthology version

  • I love the chords in the chorus, It sounds like Banjo kazooie.

  • @theamazingzivmaster Thanks for bringing back memories of that epic game. I'll go play it now.

  • @arnoldlister1959 Let's see-Kurt on vocals, John and George backup (a little dark and out of key) and...guitar solo? Go Jimi!

  • I always thought Nirvana would do a great cover of this.

  • Happy Birthday John

  • Happy Birthday John!

  • You may think the band is not quiet right. But they are, They're just playing like that. (my favortie line)

  • I think this is the Beatles attempt to making a Mother's of Invention song

  • did they mean northern england? or what?

  • @ZBraun95 Probably, they are northerners after all.

  • The song seems to be about Northern Songs Ltd.

  • @Dodo251 'northern songs 'is the name under which they published their songs, mostly lennon &mccartney, much to harrison's displeasure. and yes, coming from liverpool, it must point to their hometown.

  • @Dodo251 No, he was talking about their former publishing company, Northern Songs.

  • @Dodo251 came on guys ain't hard lookup on the web is about Northern Song Ltd, just wikipedit ;)

  • @Dodo251 I believe that 'Northern Songs' was their publisher. Most of their songs are copyrighted to Northern Songs

  • @ZBraun95 Wikipedia has an article on it that shows it to be about the publishing company

  • @OV3RCOM3 someone told me that their producing cmpany of the time was northern songs and george got a very little cut of the royalt fees so he got mad and wrote this song

  • @ZBraun95 George Harrison wrote the song as a sort of jab at Northern Songs Ltd. The Publishers of all the Beatles songs at the time. He was not happy with the way the Company was putting unequal focus on Lennon/McCartney songs. He and Ringo would not renew their contract with Northern Songs Ltd. and each started their own Publishing Company in 1968.

  • @ZBraun95 @ZBraun95 No...George was referring to John and Paul's publishing group "Northern Songs".

  • @ZBraun95 Northern Songs was the publishing company for the Beatles songs... As Harrison's songs where always considered after Lennon/McCartney's , this was a way for him to say that it didn't matter what he could write as it was only going to be a Northern Song..

  • @ZBraun95,Northern Songs was the music publishing company that George worked with.I think Paul and John worked with Dick James Publishing.

  • Comment removed

  • @ZBraun95 The publishing company was called Northern Songs.

  • @ZBraun95 Northern Songs was a company with which the Beatles had a publishing contract.

  • George wrote that because he was unhappy about Paul and John writing all the songs and rejecting his stuff. George's songs are licensed under "Northern Songs Inc." It's slightly angrier and more upset than it sounds.

  • @jerkbwh129

Plus he was only getting a small fraction of the songs' overall value.

  • @jerkbwh129 CORRECT! i said that on a diff. post and someone called me retarded .-.

  • @jerkbwh129 Where did he (or anyone else in the know) ever say that was the reason he wrote it? I've never read/heard that. He was griping about the publishing fiasco with this song.

  • @ZBraun95 Northern Songs Ltd. was the record label reaping the fruit before Apple. Hence the name Apple, actually. Harrison wrote this song in frustration as he owned only .8% (I believe) of the shares whereas John and Paul each owned something like 20%. The lyrics are mocking the fact that it hardly matters what he says or what chords he plays because it'll mostly end up in everyone else's pocket.

  • @ZBraun95 actually, George wrote it with "Northern Songs Ltd." in mind, trying to say that thas song was "just one more song for catalogue" greetings

  • @ZBraun95 I apologize for my sarcastic remark, sarcasm is the lowest form of wit and I was being a prick, all apologies.

  • @Carbon657 no worries, im sarcastic all the time and i didnt take offense to it

  • @ZBraun95 Someone probably said this already, if so I apologise, but Northern Songs was their production company up until the death of Brian Epstein, after which the Apple company was formed.

  • @ZBraun95 No, George Harrison was referring to the group that owned the Beatles copyrights back in the 60s. George: "(Only a Northern Song was) a joke relating to Liverpool, Holy City in the North of England. In addition the song was copyrighted to Northern Songs Ltd. which I didn't own"

Look up Northern Songs Ltd on wikipedia to learn more.

  • @ZBraun95 lol sorry, just realized someone already answered this. My bad. :P

  • this is my favorite movie of all time and nothing will replace it

  • Try to realize it's all within yourself! With our love-we could save the world; if they only knew! I'm listening to "Within You Without You"! Rather good, I must say! Sense the cosmic activity! Thoughts are continually migrating, and life is repeatedly being forgotton. ~While the wide arc of the globe is turning, I reach for you by my side and soar! You beside me, Revolution Earth! Then we know that we're alive; If we weren't sure before!~ P.S. Often, messages cannot be properly comprehended!

  • When one listens to music in my current state, the meaning of said music is always interpreted by the listener as pertaining to the previously mentioned state. Perhaps I should buy a double decker bus, and deck it out with shag carpet and bean bag chairs and such! I could be living in my own Private Idaho! Suddenly he had an urge to venture to Cambodia... or was it Mesopotamia? I'll meet you by the third pyramid, I'll meet you by the third pyramid!

  • Many Gamma Rays Around It! Van Allen Belt Surrounds It! This Is The Space Age!

IT'S SO HARD TO TYPE RIGHT NOW.

Also, watch this when you are high; it's like the sixteen and a half times more intense. Like the music is travelling through the green energy. 16.5 is improtant at this moment because of the thumbnail picture for the video "When I'm 64" somewhere that way ------>

  • (You see, the Beatles looked like an atomic symbol when they were spinning! Just as the purple monster synched with their ship, and they proceeded to depart from the Sea of Science, just as they entered the Sea of Monsters.) 53 MILES WEST OF VENUS 53 MILES WEST OF VENUS 53 MILES WEST OF VENUS 53 MILES WEST OF VENUS. The B-52's are better than God! As are the Beatles! Quite fantastic! They are also quite a bit less douche-y than Jesus.

  • even some rappers like the beatles

  • @meanmachine210 really? like who?

  • @pandui the wu tang clan do .. they even sampled while my guitar gently weeps and got help from Dhani Harrison!!!

  • Another GREAT piece of music performed on orange sunshine that no one remembers....

  • This was actually recorded during the Sgt. Pepper sessions, and I think it would have fit nicely on Sgt. Pepper. Can't figure out why they would have left this out.

  • @sandro28grizz Wow...really? I would say this song wouldnt sound good on Peppers.

  • I think it's about the beatles having there own Northern India folk and dance song.

  • George at his best!

  • The first time that I saw this movie I had dreams that reminds to this part... I was a bit afraid because I was 6 years old...

But I love the Beatles and I love The Yellow Submarine !!

  • This song was such a slap in the face to the Beatles' "publishing company". George Harrison could be such a bitter songwriter when he wanted to, as is also evident in "Taxman"

  • The Beatles! and an oscilloscope :P

  • i love this song

  • I love this song. But really I could tell that the drumbeat is the same one from Strawberry Fields Forever.

  • 1:53-2:45 made me trip fucking balls

  • Comment removed

  • It doesn't really matter.

  • why is it slowed down?

definitely slowed down, compared to the regular version on the cd.

  • @wodrummerworld In the "Movie" Version this song and too Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds was slowed

  • Love this song!!!!!, mostly for the pictures

  • when it's only a northern song!!!, i love this theme, harrison and paul rules!!!!

  • Even MORE fucking proof that this GROUP was/is and will ALWAYS be the greatest fucking band this or any other world will EVER create! From "I want to hold your hand" and "Yesterday" to "In my life" and so many others to "THIS" song from GEORGE no less, just goes to show EVERYONE how fucking versitile they were! All hail the Beatles!

  • The word "hail" makes me think of Hitler...

  • It's tiresome to explain my reasoning at this moment. That task must be saved until another day. SHINDIG! Will rock right on after these messages...

  • @Heidibear76 Don't forget Pink Floyd :D

  • @Heidibear76 'versitile' is not a word.

  • @wognignignog But 'fuck you' is ... : )

  • @Heidibear76 No, you are once again wrong, Dumbo. 'fuck you' is 2 words, not A word. Learn to speak English and also some manners. You stupid fucking daft thick retarded cunt!!!!! :)))

  • @wognignignog Suck my cock you bitch ass motherfucker. Your mother told me how to curse whenever she and I were in bed together and believe me, we were a lot. So fuck you and that whore you're married to. I know she is cause I'm bangin' her now you silly limp dick fuck face... OH! And have a nice day : )
