  • Thanks for this video! I wear my hair like this almost everyday now that it's so hot. Thanks for the great videos!

  • Such a cute hairstyle and my grandmother used to sing this song to me. I looove it. It gave me flash backs. lol =)

  • Oh hunny i love blonde on you !

  • I love your videos! You are gorgeous!

My question to you is, I have naturally curly hair, (corkscrew) and wonder if you might have any suggestions for how to achieve some of these styles. I have on occasion straightened my hair and then curled it again with hot rollers or a curling iron but this is HOURS of styling. I always feel like I can never be one of the "cool" girls with my curls. :(

  • @butterflywheel Thanks! You can try working w/ your curls, harnessing them w/ product, and see what you think! Let me know what you do...:)

  • my grandmother used to sing this song to me...watching this video made me cry

  • @HalloweenR5 aw :(

  • @HalloweenR5 I tend to have that effect on people....:) Just kidding. It's sweet that your granny sang this to you. I sing this to my babies now.

  • love ur hair and ur pretty song cool

  • you look good with blonde hair!...... are you thinking of going back?

  • @TheChum1981 nah...too expensive to keep up.

  • your really pretty ! thankz for the video : ) <3

  • LOVE your tutorials. Thank you for making hair fun for me again!

  • Sweetness... I like you hair colors :D

  • this is the luck style for today!!!

  • I love this song! my grandmom has sung this to me since i was REALLY little. Love the pinup series too!

  • so u r the girl i been looking for, i need help in creating a hair style from the 40's n i been watching ur videos n i love them all.

  • Are these types of hairstyles impossible with choppy layers? Cuz I keep trying to follow along with your tutorials and nothing turns out right in my opinion. Maybe I just fail at putting my hair up.

This one is the closest hairstyle that I could mimic but I really want victory rolls.

My hair is naturally straight, won't take curls -at all-, and it's long, few inches shy of mid back. Any suggestions for me?

  • @ArielGemini if your hair is very layered on the sides then that is probably why it falls whenyou try victory rolls. Try using product to piece it all together. Got 2 Be hairspray called 'glued' might help get you started. But you will need to roll it first so that the hair can curl around itself...try Hot Sticks. The curls will likely hold.

  • To be able to do these hairstyles, how should i ask my hairstylist to cut my hair? Is there any specific way that would make these easier to style? I have layers, just *very* not even...should i get them even or anything?

  • It's called 'The Middy' but really it just means hair that is evenly layered all over. Ten inch layers, would mean that the hair was cut 10 inches all over, so tha the top layers and bottom layers fall in a rounded shape.

  • Wow, you look gorgeous as a blonde!

  • Do you remember what brand/color(s) of dye you used to get your hair this color? Or did you get it done at the salon? Did it take a lot of upkeep/money to keep it blonde like that?

I've wanted to go this shade of blonde for so long, but I'm kind of scared. I keep going lighter and lighter, but I'm sure I'd have to bleach my hair to heck to get it to look like that.

  • THis is a salon job and it is VERY expensive to keep it like this. You have to get the roots done every four weeks unless you like them dark. And I don't. So it was breaking me and I had to leave it behind. :( That said, I actually think I look better w/ red hair.

Please don't try to achieve this at home...it would be pretty difficult.

  • your my inspiration! every hairstyle you do is fabulous & quite easy once you get the hang of brushing out the curls right! lol. i wear these hairstyles all the time & get compliments. :) ilyyyyyyyy!!!!! lol. but where do you find such ribbons? i never can find a thick nice ribbon like the one in this video.. only the skinny ones :\

  • Buy a spool of ribbon from a fabric store or the fabric/notions section of wal mart. Then cut your own.

  • my grandma always sings this song :)

  • AWESOME

  • These styles are made for your face for sure,,thanks for posting these !!

  • Thanks!

  • I almost forgot... I have kind of dry hair, not TOOOO dry, and it's a bit unruly at times. So I was wondering if you had any suggestions for any products to make it.. less crazy? Like, not as dry and also to add shine without being oily. I have tried leave in conditioner lots of other regular conditioners, my hair just sucks it right up. :( Thank you again!!

  • You need a pomade...a water based one. I recommend Layrite.

  • Soooo... I followed the soft waves tutorial thingie to do this, lol and this style came out really nice!! The only thing I didnt liek was the whole curlers bit... I have long, thick hair lol and I ran out of rollers!!!

Ha ha it was funny though 20 rollers only cover half of my head! I didn't realize how much hair I have! My arms weren't long enough to reach the back pieces so i kind of messed up some.. BUT despite all that it came out really nice!!

    Thank youuuuu!

  • Do you have a curling iron? If so, any hair that is left when you run out of rollers: roll to the scalp w/the iron, release the curl and then wind it back in and pin it to the scalp to cool. same effect as hot rollers.

  • ooooh wow that will come in super duper handy. Thank you Ma'am and thank you for being so nice :)

  • great song choice. remindes me of my grandma>> love your vids. i need a easy beehive. I have long hair but cain't find one that works for me.

  • LOL...you 'need' a beehive? You actually like them? haha. There is a great easy one in Lauren Rennell's Vintage Hairstyling book. I review it on my channel. :)

  • wow

    genial!

  • I remember this video - it was the first one I saw with you, and I thought you were a professional hairdresser. This is so cute :)

  • you seriously dont wear your hair like that in public do you?

  • I actually wear my hair like this quite often...as well as the other styles I teach on my channel. Thanks for asking. :)

  • Absolutely! Class never goes out of style!

  • I tried this style and it worked great even for my medium hair. I'm just starting out with the rockabilly thing, but I'm sure I'll get the hang of it. I'm looking forward to seeing more from you!

  • im confusedddd

  • So am I. ???

  • shwhoa

  • I did this look today for my mom's birthday and it turned out pretty darn well, I must say! I gotta few compliments on it, too. :) So thank you for the tutorial! I loved it. :D

  • I watched your book review part 2 vid before this. I thought you were previously blonde from the colouring of your hair, i have just dyed mine red too! How much better does it feel?!!!

    I love your video's x

  • I loved this!!

  • Thank you so much!

    i love the song :)

  • I did this one today at work; my husband LOVED it. Who couldn't love a Vargas girl?

  • help! i would love to do this hairstyle tomorrow but i havent gotten a hot rollers set yet..is there an alternative? i only have foam rollers and curling irons....

  • Just use your curling iron. Spray each section before you roll it and 'hear it sizzle' then allow the curl to cool completely before you brush it out! Good luck!

  • great hair,it looks really good on u.lov it

  • Love it! ^^

whats the name of this song?? pls?

    keep it up girl! =]

  • It is Bushel and a Peck by the Andrews Sisters. :)

  • thnx lisa ♥

  • omg

  • Thanks for this video - and you are gorgeous!

  • hey, how did you get your fringe up like that? did you use rollers? :)

  • Yes, I used hot rollers to set it in the same manner as my Soft Waves for Fine Hair video. Then I just brushed it back and sprayed it.

  • I love this one. I was wondering if you could do more that involved wearing your pulled up like that. I like pinup hairstyles but I don't like it to be super retro, just a vintage feel. This was great!

  • instead of using rollers, is it ok to use a curling iron?

  • Sure...just make sure the individual curls cool completely before brushing it out. :)

  • how cute!

  • beautiful!

  • beautiful ! <3

  • Thanks, betty jo..:)

  • your so beautiful !!!!!

&i tried to do this hairstyle , but left the back down istead of a ponytail & i put a flower on the side , it looked nice :) only thing was the curls fell , any tips to making them stay? thanxxx xoxoxox <3

  • Sponge rollers make a more humidity resistant curl...they start out really curly but they will relax to right. Hot rolled hair will almost always fall...especially if your hair is fine and straight like mine. Or you could just move to the desert! Your style will hold out there...:)

  • I am african american with naturally curly hair. When I straighten my hair the back is just short of my shoulders. When my hair is wet it curls up to chin length. I love these styles but cant figure out how to make them work. Should I try this with freshly washed hair and then sit under a dryer wih some pin curls? I try to use minimal heat and would like to avoid the curling iron if I can. Also if I try to brush the curls out for the soft wavy look I am afraid I will have a frizzy mess.

  • Jlen...I can only tell you to practice. Try it both ways and attempt the styles both ways to determine what's best for you. :) Sorry I can't be of more help.

  • You have been a big help and an inspiration already! I love these styles and I WILL MAKE IT HAPPEN lol!

  • omg whats this awesome song! please!

  • You guys kill me! haha. I grew up on Guys and Dolls! This song is Bushel and a Peck by the Andrews Sisters. It's their version of the song that is featured in the semi-burlesque show Vivienne Blaine performs in Guys and Dolls.

  • seriously?! My mom used to sing it to me when I was a very very small child... I was like "wow, this song sounds familiar..." then I remembered!

  • haha i really like the song! and your hair looks awesome

  • This was my go-to for the hair! Thanks again xo

  • This can be really cute. I wore my hair like this for the Car Show in Vegas two Saturdays ago. You can see it in Viva LAs Vegas photo album. :)

  • I've never had so many comments about my hair before as I did on Saturday night. I told them all to go to my YouTube and look for my latest subscription! :P

  • yay! That makes me so happy. :)

  • do you think this would work on like african american hair :(

  • Yes I do. A beautiful black girl at the car show had her hair in Victory rolls and it looked perfect. She had a red hair flower and was quite the 'star'.. If you can get the combs to hold, it should looks very nice w/ the assistance of some product. I can't say for certain because I personally have never worked w/ african american hair...sigh. ;)

  • aah thankyou x

  • What version of bushel and a peck is this? (btw i love the hair)

    <33

  • It's the Andrews Sisters...and thanks!

  • it looks really cute but what do u do to the top of ur hair?

do u just curl ur hair back and then do the twist thing?

  • Actually, in the very beginning of the video, I tell you to roll your hair in the same pattern as my 'SOft Waves for Fine Hair' tutorial. If you go back thru my videos, you'll find it. Then just brush out the curls and twist it back.

  • cute and simple!

  • Hey, the Vargas ballerina is my background! Haha, anyways this style is so cute. I think I might do this for Easter tomorrow instead of victory rolls...it seems much easier but just as pretty. Thanks for the vid! xoxo

  • Goes by too quick.

  • haha...perhaps that's why people like it...

  • i fink ud b fab i in a black and white movie..love the hair..

  • What a nice thing to say!

  • i thought it looked like it could have been finished at 0:42

    what a great job

  • ooh, this would be a nice daytime look, *i always feel too dressy when i do victory rolls during the day) i dont think my hair is long enough, i suit short hair better but sometimes i wish it was longer so i could do some of these styles! .. ooh im rambling on now, anyhoo, thank you! x

  • Victory Rolls are definitely more for evening or photo shoots, I think. Not only are they elaborate, they can look ratty after a while....ha. This is a great daytime look...I'm probably going to do it this way for the car show at VLV this year. It's easy and 'cool'.

  • oh i so wanted o go to viva las vegas but cant! just went in august and going in sept though

  • so so cute.

    I really love your tutorials.

  • love it..

    what is the song..

  • The song is Bushel and a Peck by the Andrews Sisters.

  • how cute!

  • cute!!

  • I wish I could do my hair like this but it takes like two hours to straighten my super curly hair...awesome video though

  • Girls in the 40s had curly hair too...as a matter of fact, it was preferred so those who didnt have curls, MADE them. Do the same style but just tame your curls. The look will still be lovely.

  • I love your tutorials! You're gorgeous!

  • great hair, whats the name of this song? i love it!

  • thanks ludicruslover...it's called Bushel and a Peck by the Andrews Sisters.

  • love the look so doing this tomorrow =]

  • yay i can't wait to try out this look :)

gorgeous as always, love all your videos! x

  • Great job, you look adorable :D I love how you show various options!

  • Thanks, you're sweet.

  • I love it! I will be happy when my hair is long enough to do this!

  • Yeah, short hair is so cute...until it sucks. :D
