  • It is sooo funny when they do this. Mine liked 'Where's treats' and 'Where's Kong'. They know what they like. Who's training who? Westies. Love em!

  • They definitely are training us!!

  • lol when i feed my westie when he acts like that i also say do u want some food in your bowl hehe

  • i have a westie also called max who looks and acts just like this

  • haha yes they are bossy creatures. I too am familiar with the snapping sound they make with their teeth when they want something. They are awesome dogs!

  • that was so cute! i loved how he put his head down and acted like he was eating his food.

  • He acts like he is rounding you up to go to bed. My Westie would do that. He felt like he couldn't go to sleep until he'd done his duty. He would keep coming out to get me and would get frustrated.

I had bad Insomnia, so it was kind of touching that he was coming to tell me I should be sleeping.

  • I LOVE the roundup!

  • lol. my dog had us trained too!

  • I know I am not the most dominant person, but I have boundaries. I volunteer with a lot of dogs, but I have rarely run across one as dominant as my little westie. I will not get physical with him, though.

  • No, You're not meant to give them physical punishment. You're meant to train them to stop when you say 'stop' or 'no' and if you keep i up that's all the punishment you will need to give.

  • I don't punish. More like create a negative association with certain behaviors. But definitely don't allow him to boss me around totally.

  • Doing these things to establish your dominance over your dog sounds kind of mean, but the dog doesn't want to be the boss. She just knows someone has to be the alpha and will fill that space if she thinks she has to, but being their own little pack leaders just stresses them out.

  • I have 2 Males and 2 Females..10/7/5/5.,,,Cleverest and most affectionate dogs imaginable.Great fun to see them together-Westies should always be in pairs(at least!)...lol

  • I agree! I wish!

  • seriously, westies are the smartest dogs ever.

    yours is adorable. so smart!

i've never met a westie who wasn't described as the king or queen of the household. they're so amazingly loving, but are such divas!

  • Yup! Piper will come up to us and chuff. "Piper, what do you want? Walkies? Water? Snackins? Lovins? What is it?" He'll bark at one of the options. These dogs are VERY smart and quite able to think for themselves.

  • So funny! Mine doesn't chuff too much. He'll come and stare at you until you follow him. =]

  • @Dadgrug Haha, awesome. Mine will jump up and take your thumb in his mouth, and lead you to exactly what he wants.

  • Cute! My westie can be bossy as well!
