  • great, was it an off camber turn?think the rpm was to low, power and tork came to powerfull in for this corner, wen the rpm is higher the risk is lower by less tork on the backweel, remember old times wen pilots keeping there bikes on high rpm by yanking everytime the shifting gaer, wen going to a corner

  • haha great video!

  • at least the bike didn't get smashed to pieces

  • i crashed my new ducati 1198 in just one step....too much gas in 1st gear

  • too much power too soon

  • that had nothing to do with passing the other rider, it wasn't a clean turn.

  • the guy in front of him is putting the knee down, but his head is staying at the same place. His head should go down to the mirror.

  • @BojanglesCanada YES!!!!! I don't even have a bike and I know this, yet I see WAY too many youtube videos of people doing just that....

  • 0:33 Aww ita baby corkscrew! :)

  • Well at least he waved to the camera.

  • at least he lowsided and the bike didn't take that big damage...

  • no big deal, it was a fair crash, shit happens!

  • I did something like that, got too anxious and passed some 1 alittle too late and had to lean alittle too far for cold tires and sure enough down I go......I learned that my tires need more than 1 lap to warm up haha

  • I just went off in the same turn. I'm learnin' that turn the hard way too.

  • really who hasn't been there pushing too hard, you got to find the limits of your bike some how

  • wow yeah that wasnt too bad at least you lowsided instead of highsided and i bet your thinking the man came up with the idea for a leather motorcycle race suit mine was the best 700 i have ever spent

  • Street tires or DOT race rubber or slicks?

  • to much throttle to soon. lets all try to remember that most our bikes that have been converted to track bikes dont have the traction control systems that the pros have on there 100k dollar bikes. wait to crack that throttle.

  • glad you're OK and that you have lots of humor.

If I recall it right you crashed exactly where they have all these yellow "buttons" in the chicane, glad you didn't get stuck on one of those.

  • fukin song....

  • i crashed at the same turn before haha

  • The last time that I was at Thunderhill, I low sided in at the same exact turn. Can't remember if it was turn 10 or 11. Been a couple years. I figured my rear lifted since my lean was too much for that particular turn, and the rearsets might of got caught up. Good vid, nonetheless.

  • Nice video, but the music did suck.

  • Fucking music gave me a fucking headache....SHIT!

  • Fucking stupid video rather jump of a bridge that watch this shit again

  • Video convinced me to get frame sliders on my track bike. Thanks!

  • kook

  • lesson of the day: when your rear tire loses traction you're fucked.

  • Depends on how cranked over you are. IMO i'd rather lose traction to the rear than the front. If you keep on the power you still have a chance of the bike grabbing traction again, when the front goes its a different story....

  • @not4resale and its better to stay on it and low side then let off and high side.

  • @not4resale true statement, the rear follows the front so if the front loses traction you've got nothing, rear losses traction at least you've got some control.

  • $50.00 will save you

$2000.00 or more in frame repair

  • Needed smoother throttle control?

  • dont seem his fault tbh, possibly got on the power a tad to early, but just seems a change in surface. still im sure he survived and im sure the bike was repairable. as said.. could happen to anyone.

  • noooo3s, poor bike =(

  • Looked like a change in track surface. He lost it right after coming off of the darker asphalt. The darker part of the pavement would be hotter and potentially have more grip; the difference would be negligible, but maybe enough to cause the tire to slip out under heavy acceleration.

  • Nice to know, but they sometimes get away from you.. i hate that when that happens...

  • low sider

  • He was doing good, could have happened to anyone and at least he was pushing it on a track not like a lot of the fannies doing it on public roads

  • nice>>>>>>1

  • too much gas coming out that corner?

  • yup

  • why does that sound stupid,, please tell me

let's see how smart you actually are

  • i think that they should make the asphalt rougher so that you can not slip and eventually crash

  • You have no idea how stupid that sounds.

so why dont we just make the road out of rubber? lol

  • are you reterded ? smooth dry surfaces are the best, rougher asphalt means much more tyre use and bigger wounds if you do fall.

  • ok then smooth means you will fall even before you sit on a motorcycle, and what is more logical, to spend few more tires than crash your motor?

  • or to crash your motor

  • the smoother the surface, the more rubber will be in contact with the surface, the more grip you'll get, ideal would be a DRY CLEAN rubber surface.

  • @elvee88 ok then, the most smooth surface is glass. try to put some rubber on glass and see if it is better than lets sand paper?

  • @thereaperorsutch a rubber tyre on dry glass wil obviously provide more grip than paper on sand. wth are you saying

  • @elvee88 rubber is soft and it will go into the grooves on a rough surface, but on a more smother surface aka.glass, it will act slippery

  • @thereaperorsutch pardon,it will be more slippery

  • @thereaperorsutch you REALLY dont get it. You are right in a way, if the rubber is very soft it will go into the grooves of a rough surface, but this will cause enormous tyre wear. Have you ever heard of slick tyres? Theyre completely smooth in order to ensure full contact with the road surface, without them wearing down on the most minute slip.

was my last comment, dont believe me yet? GO GOOGLE!

  • what the hell did u just lose the back end?

  • no he locked up the front brake which made him skid and when ur in that angle ur obviously gonna fall if he was to lock up his rear brakes it wouldve been alot more violent. what he did was a lowside. if u want to see what a highside looks like youtube it. in a highside what happens is when u lock up the rear brake it skids then grips again which causes to rider to "fling" off the bike

  • i know he low sided but u can still lose the back end from a low side

  • yea i guess if ur at that angle

  • i know cause it almost happend to be a month back on a track day cause I chopped the throttle coming out of a double apex and almost have the back end come out on me

  • what's so wrong with the song and boo hoo if you don't like it just turn volume off?

  • no you dont fool. youre barely old enough to be on the internet. fuck ur rep boy.

  • What's the name of the song?

  • Why the heck would you want to know? This music is so obnoxious. I have to turn the volume down so I don't embarrass myself infront of my family.

  • haha was exactly my case^^

  • maybe you shouldnt be living with your mom still...grow up sometime.... and if youre 17 still living at home. why do you care about being embarrassed?? youre just a kid, so what. you dont have a rep to protect.

  • I'm fifteen. I'm better looking than you, and actually DO have a rep to protect.

  • Scorngraing - 24/7 Hell from their debut album Cyberwarmachine

  • Hes hit the bump, gots up in the wair by a fraction, wen hes hit this ground hes at a different angle from what he was before he was in the air then hes just tail whipped it and slip out lol

  • Nice flag on the slide show. Where were you? On the moon? Couldn't be,..no one has been to the moon.

  • and the point of that comment was?

  • thank god for frame sliders!!!!!

  • sexy bike. thunderhill is ftw :)

  • god awful sound.. never want to hear that from a bike again... im talking about the ending btw lol

  • it seems like he lost it when he tried to accelerate thru the turn and it slid the tire out.

  • it stalled

    lol

  • NICE camera, didn't go out !!

Text book low side, I love frame sliders !

    Hahaha text is funny man.

  • wow you guys are real slow

  • oh man thank god for those frame sliders... i was worried about that sexy R1!

  • Loved the photo's at the end, classic

  • Frame sliders FTW. I will never have another bike without them.

  • it seems like it could happen to anyone the best way would be is if ur bike has traction control always leave it on or never accelerate as fast as u can while turning

  • not that bad,atleast it didn't flip

  • omg, just a dreadful sound it made ;<

  • lol you could of given us all awave as the bike slid away lol

  • Try to crash infront of the person you just passed, classic. Hope your bike was ok better a lowside than a highside.

  • that's racing !

  • nice bike

  • I got nothing but good things to say about this guy. Yeah, he wrecked, but it doesn't matter because he wasn't out being an idiot on the street. He wanted to ride fast, so he took it to the proper location (the track) and did the right thing. Props!

  • time for a re-spray?

  • You know what...if you gotta crash, that's the way to do it. A gentle lowside and a bit of rash on the bike - no slamming impact. Doesn't look like you got hurt and that's what matters. Thanks for the vid.

  • I love it how the driver of that bike was able to catch himself on video flying off the bike.

  • hey sweet vid!

  • Pretty good quailty vid, looks like some serious fun to run on the track days....Im afraid to go cause i know i'll get addicted and that shits expensive... Lowsides are pretty common though, bet you walked away just fine?

  • It's fun! Crashing is optional --I'm fine. Yep, it's addictive.

  • how can you avoid lowsides?

  • Here's one way: Don't try to accelerate when the bike is fully leaned. Stand the bike up a little first, then give it some throttle.

  • thanks

  • yup yup, neutral throttle. Lucky you were leaned pretty much to the max so it wen down fast and didn't have a chance of grabbing traction to transform this to a high side. . .

Notice your shift indicator, you bike shifted to 3rd gear at 1:38. . .after you "de-biked."

Glad you are OK. Nice to see you having some humor about it. Thanks for the video.

  • The way(s) to avoid low slides is #1 throttle control with good heated tires. #2 carry enough corner/entry speed that you don't need the brakes (that's why the 800cc motogp bikes are shattering the 1000cc motogp lap records corner speeds/lighter bikes). #3 the most important of all, "KNOW YOUR LIMITS". You'll kill yourself trying to stay with better/faster riders. That's the key to any riding or driving, know your limits.

  • @wot4edge540 easy (for 90mph turns):

    1. Hang off the bike properly with one butt-cheek off

looking thru the turn with your torso leaned towards the inside of the turn

    (helmet past mirror) dragging the knee with sliders on;

    2. choose a good line: outside-inside-outside - with a late apex

    (closest point to the inside of the turn);

    3....

  • @SethArmaddos

    3. Once you've leaned the bike into it's line, immidiately accelerate out of the turn using throttle control no.1: "Once the throttle is cracked open, it is rolled on evenly smoothly and constantly throuout the remainder of the turn" - so you accelerate as soon as possible, once you've steered the bike.

    IT IS THAT EASY!!!!

  • thanks. I do like to push my supermoto to the limits but i dont want to bend it! nearly lost it the other day; hammerd open the throttle on the exit of a corner the front came down as i was still turning and had a mini tank slapper lol

  • @wot4edge540

I Recommend you search for Keith Code's "A Twist of the wrist II DVD+Book". THAT IS GOLDEN STUFF !! man, I mean IT IS THE SH&T! Keith Code is one of the greatest motorcycle racing teachers of the world EVER!! Seriously, if you want skills, the book and the DVD WILL give you those skills, so you would ALWAYS know what to do not to crash. Ride safe!

  • thanks for this, I am going to look for it . ebay etc!

  • its not that fuckijn easy to master it. Its only easy to know about it.

  • Good tips , ill follow those at the freeway :D

  • nice sound from the ground

  • hahaha that was a graceful crash though, but -2 for crashing right after ya passed someone. X3

    8/10 ^-^

  • Clean dismount for what could have become an ugly highide.

  • easy slide and minimum of damages.

  • I never let go of my bike during a near slide out or when I'm about to fall. I think if you let go of your bike its for sure your going to fall off and avoid geting hurt, but if you hag on and try to regain control then either 2 things will happen. 1: You gain control of your back and ride off. 2: you gain control of your bike only to find that there is a car or all in front of you. I've had both happen to me. Sucks sometime but at least you tried :p

  • Sure or you could hang on and turn it into a high side and break something.

  • Ever heard of Stretching like bruce u'll snap the bike instead :)

  • Thunderhill, a very nice track.

  • Unlucky!!!!

Gorgeous bike though, and some good riding!

  • Unlucky!!!!

Gorgeous bike though, and some good riding!

  • The bike spins up as it goes over the change in tarmac (see the color change) but the way it spins around rather then slideing first makes me wonder if he had his weight to centered on the bike and had the rear tire loaded to much. But since we cant see how much he was hanging off we wont know :)

  • its an R1... he gave it a little too much throttle causing traction to disintegrate.

  • but pavement did change i will give him that

  • No, look at the pictures afterwards which are from that track day. Form is good. Nipple on gas cap and kissing the mirrors. (imaginary) IE: getting his weight to the inside and his head out of centerline where most lesser skilled riders keep it, only getting their asses off the bike.

I think he was simply at max lean and gave too much throttle. I believe the tarmac change played a roll in it. He was obviously trying to catch up with the other little pack and got a little "trigger happy."

  • he made no mistake

  • Nice video. :)

What happened? I didn't see you doing anything obviously wrong, and suddenly you highside? o.o

  • could have been oil, greese, too much lean, getting hit in the visor by a stone... you name it

  • that's not a high side, it's a low side. Frame sliders aren't going to do much in a high side crash.

  • Doh! You're right, my mistake.

Still, sudden unavoidable crashes are bad.

I like to be able to come out of these things with an idea of what could've been done to avoid it; I don't see him doing anything wrong. Unavoidable? :\

  • like the other guy said, really could be a lot of things, slick spot on the track, gravel on the track, etc...or could be rider error; leaned over to far, grabbed to much throttle to early, etc.

sounds to me like he grabs the throttle while leaned way over and it just slips away from him, but I could be wrong.

  • that was a low side bro.

  • Much respect, I breath of fresh air after watching all of the other pieces of Reagan's youth trashing good equipment on the street while endangering innocent sheeple.

  • hooray frame sliders!

  • Awesome track it has a bit of everything!

  • Hehe we all been there =). Woulda been a lot worse if ya highsided eh, or it the guy knocked you off trying to get back past! er hmmm =) (see 'you jockeys' opps lol).

    nice vid mate.

  • Dam that was a pretty badass crash. I bet you were embarassed. x.x

  • I hope you're ok!!

  • just a bent shifter on the bike. Not even a scratch or bruise on me! I was lucky!

  • Oh dear oh dear oh dear, Ive got an '04 R1 and it reminds me alot that it demands alot of respect in the throttle department...

  • omg he wanted 2 crash?!

  • ouch.

  • buahahaha! that was awesome, vik! first time i'd seen this one. haha!

  • Seppes approved! Awesome! 4TheRiders takes awesome track photos!

  • ohhhh noooo.....

  • Exactly! That's just what I said!

  • nice bike, glad man and machine r ok

  • Thanks!

  • GOOD to see that you had race fairings on. o many peeps i know dont. u have spare engine covers and handle br clamps???? what else broke of? ??

  • I was lucky! Just ground up sliders. No broken parts. Only one bent shift lever. Foot pegs & bars were okay. Very lucky, huh?

  • yer seems that the sliders saved you

  • If you haven't experienced this yourself, you haven't really felt your own limits! Great riding!

  • lmfao i love the instructions

  • are you okay? D:

  • Wow, I could just about see the rear tiring spinning from here. Were you using good rubber?

  • Yup! Used them the very next day at the track. I just gave it too much gas.

  • That is Thunderhill, not Laguna. I hope you weren't too banged up.

  • man that sucked

  • oh man! Great vid, cool to have the video footage and the stills. Not the "glory" footage you intended I'm sure, but informative for the rest of us. Thanks! Glad you and bike are OK.

  • Thanks. It's great to ride on the track, even when things don't go like I planned.

  • nice riding the bike is ok ?

  • Yup, not a scratch, nothing bent. Frame sliders did their job.

  • not bad, but you should try dumping it while making a left through an intersection in front of a school bus full of 12 yr olds...like me!

  • Laguna Seca...Yea Right...Great R1...

  • Ouch dude. I'm always a bit more ginger than necessary 11 - 13. I've seen so many people spin up the rear and bin it there. Glad you're OK and the bike didn't tumble.

  • lol @ "Try to crash in front of rider you just passed"

Glad you and the bike were ok. 8-)

  • lmao, unexpected.....
