The tunnel the train backed into and out of is the 2 miles long Victoria tunnel running to Waterloo Dock. It is disused from 1972, built 1848. The track enters the tunnel for a short distance for shunting. The tunnel was to be used for Merseyrail in the 1970s but budget cuts prevented it happening. The tunnel is mothballed for future Merseyrail use.
My cousin said this ran that day, and I thought this was from a while ago. Good to see a different 37 running around Edge Hill. 401 has been a bit of a boring sight all over the place now.

i was lucky i saw it going down to the dock and went to edgehill to wait for it coming back.
