Haha, I once saw some tools doing this in th park in front of my house. I grabbed my sledgehammer and ran into the battle. It was only after a couple of swings and kids screams that I realized it was fake, I thought LARPers used real weapons and not just foam sticks, haha I had fun anyways.

actually, considering that that probably had NO BUDGET except what the larpers could contribute themselves, that wasnt bad. and they got some decent sized little groups too, which was pretty cool. ive never tried larping but it is fun to watch fan made stuff online. just finished the latest book and i feel like a junkie lookin for a fix, and anything even remotely A Song of Ice and Fire I have to see, read, explore...etc lol

Well, their Melisandre isn't exactly hotness incarnate, but the whole effort still looks great. People have to realize if they watch such videos that there is almost none of the polishing and post-production that a "real" movie recieves. Building that wooden fortress and holding a tournament with real horses most likely would financially break the back of 90% of the existing LARP community. For that alone, those Russians deserve respect.

It's a LARP. Live Action Roleplaying. It doesn't have to look good, its a game. Most LARPs don't even have this stuff, they throw beanbags for ranged weapons, so don't criticise it.

Really I do not see much difference between this and someone being in a play. The biggest difference is that a LARP is just unscripted acting. There are directors who set the tone then the players become the cast and take it from there. It can seem silly from an outside objective because it is, but it hurts no one and the people involved enjoy it. Quite a bit better then getting drunk for fun, at least in my book.
