Because Olympic windsurfing is very different to speed sailing. In the Olympics, they race upwind and downwind in varying wind conditions and with big sails and boards. Speed sailing is just a straight broad reach in very windy conditions. The two disciplines require very different skills.

i learned windsurfing and my teacher told me that for kids its much more easier to learn than adults... so im lucky=]

i practise windsurfing and kitesurfing and i think that they are both great, both are very easy to learn

@maxiua , yes, you are right, kitesurfing is easier than windsurfing (I love both), but that's why kitesurfing is better for speed than windsurfing (currently 7 knots faster).
