The iPhone back in 2007 was a glorified iPod Nano with a browser and it didn't even have any native apps and it only had non-flash web apps, all it could do was play videos, (not many with only 8GB and no SD Card) listen to music and browse the web without flash and it didn't even have fucking angry birds!

Additionally, the specs that you stated wasn't even available and the iPhone hardware also blows other competitors away during that time.
As much as I like the iPhone, Ballmer was 100% correct when he made this statement. The initial iPhone was ridiculously priced and didn't appeal to the business market. Even today, smart businesses will always choose Android over iOS.

I was an android fanboy this time last year, but one year with my Galaxy S changed that immediately. I purchased my iPhone 4S on launch day, and I can HONESTLY, say I have no complaints. The only issue I've found is overcomplication of simple processes. My iPhone makes life so much more simple, no need to spend hours to get my phone to do the basics.
@Dleedude iOS is definitely more streamlined, but android offers file management, flash and is a better option for emailing (some android handsets have proper keyboards). I personally dislike android and I'd choose iOS over it any day... that said, I'll acknowledge that android has its distinct perks. It is also WAAAY more open than iOS is. BTW, iOS has 'fragmentation' too. I've never updated my 3GS - still running the original OS from the factory.

The iPhone didn't sell well initially, Apple quickly reduced the price (and even gave rebates to some of the early adopters) and went on to great success only after reducing it's price.
Funny how all these people and corporations keep slandering Apple while they just keep innovating and paving the way for the technology industry. They're stock was at like $7 a share in the mid-90's; now it's over $350! Crazy!

@dasdrums That's not true at all. Apple will never control the market until their products shave about 30% of their price and gain the sheer compatability of Windows. Another problem with what you're saying is that Windows still has a huge area to expand: stability. MAC can only add features. Problem with the adding features is raising price, so the next MAC OS won't come out for a while and won't be too big an improvement. While Windows 8 is going to draw a lot of money in 2012 and 2013.

I work in audio and Mac is the only way to go for that. That is the Mac niche. Microsoft does other things like gaming. But I bet Windows 8 will be just like 7, but that was much better than Vista.

lol apple computers aren't locked at all mate, you have full access to terminal, EFI's, the kernel, etc. All that good and tasty stuff. Also, they don't hide half your files away in a "program files" folder on your C-Drive. It's all right there for you to do with what you like.

They need to scrap it and start again from scratch . Use 21st century technology and not rely on a bios from the 80's. Start again MS, start to innovate.

MS doesn't rely on a BIOS, it can boot from EFI, or be chainloaded with GRUB and LILO.
And that legacy code means you can run older applications. Which is absolutely vital for businesses, and many home consumers with older software.

@dasdrums That's not true at all. Apple will never control the market until their products shave about 30% of their price and gain the sheer compatability of Windows. Another problem with what you're saying is that Windows still has a huge area to expand: stability. MAC can only add features. Problem with the adding features is raising price, so the next MAC OS won't come out for a while and won't be too big an improvement. While Windows 8 is going to draw a lot of money in 2012 and 2013.

I work in audio and Mac is the only way to go for that. That is the Mac niche. Microsoft does other things like gaming. But I bet Windows 8 will be just like 7, but that was much better than Vista.

I think it's supposed to really focus onstability while keeping all the 7 features. Keep in mind i don't know for sure, but with the recent vista fiasco, I think Microsoft want's to get back their super compatibleness

So we will see what the momentum of Android will be in some months time.. Sure it will be higher than Apple's iPhone. But they will have to pay less for that and will get less for that matter.

I am not a real fan of it, but I see for the most part security en reliability advantages from it. It's a fact that google is closing it's system more than in the way it started and that Microsoft is copying apple's system. I wonder why ;-)

lol apple computers aren't locked at all mate, you have full access to terminal, EFI's, the kernel, etc. All that good and tasty stuff. Also, they don't hide half your files away in a "program files" folder on your C-Drive. It's all right there for you to do with what you like.
