@danho92 The ethical thing to do would be for police to reject their orders, even at the risk of being fired. I understand why they're not willing to make that sacrifice (for the same reason I'm not willing to exercise civil disobedience by smoking in public). But if officers refused to arrest people for marijuana use en masse, enforcement would simply cease. After all, just like they can't arrest everyone, they can't fire every cop.

Cannabis is, however, not dangerous at all. It is not toxic at anywhere near the levels that people use it and only becomes dangerous when combined with tasks that require quick thinking and coordination (like driving). Alcohol for example is one of the most toxic chemicals readily available.
