  • this song is one of the greatest human achievements of all time...unless, of course......ALIENS.

  • This drummer was soooooooooooooo underknown and appreciated. He was freakin' born to drum.

  • @boogiemaam This man was full of talent and people gave him so much shit. He was picked for a reason. I like him a little better than Jason honestly. But, I love both lol

  • I think this tour was wonderful. Wonderful to see and hear Page and plant and Their band which was not intended to be Zeppelin. Just to see and hear them was worth the price of admission. I heard say that this tour was thrown together quick and Jimmie didn't have enough time to go over the old stuff. Hence Jimmie not playing the solos on some of the tunes. I know if I was Jimmie I wouldn't want to struggle through a solo i wasn't sure about.

  • Well I wasnt there, but I did see this tour. yay!

  • is it just me or does it seem at the beginning of the song Jimmy is just goofing off, and he is still kicking ass

  • Even without the 2 original members they still sound good!

  • AAAAAAAAAAH! I Wish I Was thERE

  • Jimmy Page is my hero

  • Micheal Lee is my hero.

  • Robert Plant my hero

  • Roberttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt

  • Robert Plant the best always

    My hero

    Fantasstic

  • I have to say.. I'm sorry Jimmy. But this video was ruined for me when I saw that other guitarist.

  • @bonzo971 I think it's a strong live version. And Plant sounds better on this than he did in the latter days of Zeppelin.

  • @tjcoffey almost 20 years since he lost his son and the car accident. they had an affect on him in the late 70's.

  • My all time favorite Zep song! Hammer of the Gods!!

  • -___________________- Why is there a 2nd guitarist ? WHEN YOU HAVE JIMMY PAGE you don't need ANOTHER guitarist o.- , and Jimmy only had one solo -____-

  • @FcBarcaman1193 lazy? can't play it as clean as fans would expect? not wanting to be judged? who knows, right? Billy joel used to have someone sing high parts for him in the 80's in concert.

  • @WayneYonke But still he's JIMMY PAGE , he doesn't need a second guitarist

  • @FcBarcaman1193 Yes. I agree. I also know that Coldplay uses tracks from their recordings 2 'enhance' their shows. And I have read on their fan sites that today's Coldplay fan doesn't care. They want it 2 be awesome (whatever that means to them).

I saw The Modern Jazz Quartet 20 years ago in Las Vegas - no microphones. Everyone had to adjust to the sound and listen harder in the auditorium, but it was phenomenal.

Check out 'When Giants Ruled The Earth'. Good read. It's on audio book, too.

  • I saw them on this tour and it was fuckin killer!!!!

  • 15 days before I saw them. Good times, good times.

  • When I first saw Mr. Clean onstage with Jimmy and Robert filling in on the solos, I thought "Ohhhh S***, A mistake...." BUT! I guess he grew on me after awhile and now i use Mr. Clean products more!! XD. But in all seriousness, he rocks. He is a great guitarist and if Jimmy and RObert like him, why shouldn't we. Watch him play. He definitely is feeling the music and doing well!@

  • Hot Damn!!

  • Porl is a great drummer... Yes I have seen people say this before lol. So how can we listen to them if they cannot see he is obviously the guitarist? He was picked by Page and Plant. He has a different style, but rocks :)

  • i think the drummer is about to come in his pants...way ott man

  • The drummer's overdoing it.

  • who the heck is doing the solos? looks like billy corgan kinda haha. but why isnt jimmy playing lead?

  • @skyman2300... porl thompson from the Cure

  • I love Michael Lee.......

  • By the way....Porl Thompson did a pretty damned good job on the solos.

  • I wished they'd put out a good Page & Plant dvd with more electric stuff. UNLEDDED was good to start it all off. But I'd like to see more of this stuff released. Sureky they can remix & edit it and get a good soundtrack to it.

  • Page and plant 98!

  • @krellamps - they were better in 1995.

  • I'm just wondering - what the hell is doing that bald guitarist on stage??? And doing Jimmy's guitar solos??? So, what's the great Jimmy Page now? A rhythm guitarist??

Mother fuckers! Jimmy Page WAS the Led Zeppelin! He was the MAIN key of Zeppelin's sucess!

  • Yeah, the bald guy was Porl Thompson from The Cure taking those solos. I was a little miffed about him playing Page's leads, but oh well...

  • One musn't forget JPJ. He was ALSO a key ingredient to Zep's success. Never forget the genius of ALL of the original cast.

  • @omeu1 Oh, Jimmy Page did happen to day that this "bald guitarist" was the best guitarist he had ever heard. His name is Porl Thompson. Genius. Look him up, ignoramus.

  • i love the crowds singing at the beginning

    I HAD A DREAM!!!!!

  • This song is one of the finest rock guitar creations. Followed by The Rain song on the album, another piece of art. They don't make them like that anymore.

  • Poor audio

  • Michael Lee? Is it the same Michael Lee that played with "The Cult?" He is relentless on this track. If ludwigking is correct, it is too bad he is dead. He certainly knows how to play the toms.

  • RIP Michael Lee..............

  • is jimmy just being modest by not playing the solos?

  • I saw em in the UK. Is this on CD or DVD? It was absolutely fantastico!

  • that drummer needs to fuckuing chill !

  • That looks like Michael Lee who was very good. Unfortunately, he is on a permanent "chill" now. Sadly, he passed from a seizure. He played with them on the Page/Plant tour also.

  • Jimmy Page often talked about having another guitarist on for live shows even during Zeppelin era.Of course they never did it but for Page/Plant they brought in Porl Thompson. For songs like this it helps having 2 guitar players. Although with Page you don't need another player it's nice. As far as whos better come on now Page is a legend, that doesn't mean Porl isn't good but to compare with Page well there is no comparison I think Porl would agree as would most other guitar playersh

  • R.I.P. Michael Lee

  • amazing, great number one up there with the beatles

  • michael lee was awesome during Fate of Nations tour and this one as well. I love Roberts Post Zep voice.

  • RIP Michael Lee :(

  • y the f is the buld guy doing the solo?

  • because porl thomson is the shit, thats why

  • Sadly, he was needed at this point in Pages career.

  • just fantastic..., nothing more to say...great stuff...pure Rockn' Roll at its best!!!

  • 205022

  • I LOVE THE DRUMMER!!

  • porl the best!!!

  • Porl is great. And I can understand why Jimmy would want him in the band. But having another guitar player in a band that already has Jimmy Page in it isn't necessary.

Porl did a good job though.

  • I saw 4 shows on this tour. I'm not sure what the rest of the tour was like but at each show I saw Porl consistently outplayed Page. I know it isn't a contest out there, but frankly it was pretty hard to miss.

By the end of the final show I saw I was hoping they'd relegate Page to rhythm duties and let Porl have all the leads like The Who used to do with Townshend.

    Great song though...

  • Page was still coming off smack at that point apparently so I've heard!

  • are you kidding me? page wrote all those licks... this port guy had no creative input... at this stage in page's career he wasn't at his prime... but to say he should be relegated to rythym is a fuckin joke.

  • this port plays the licks just fine but tons of people could do that... he could never had written such a masterpiece hence the reason no one knows who the fuck he is... also watch him play, his technique his mad nub hes using his index and middle finger instead of his ring... thats something i used to do when i was 13 playing guitar, before i had taken any lessons and learned about positioning. Page was justified in firing this noooob.

  • He's an acomplished guitarist in his own right with the Cure, and get his name right it's Porl not Port. Both bands are amazing and both guitarists are amazing. Just because someone criticises your idol doesn't mean you should start being rude about others, grow up. It's almost as if you still are 13.

  • i dont know about amazing. Page is, Porl is not. The cure, while still an accomplished band, are not known for great guitar work, unlike zeppelin. Page pwns Porl. End of argument.

  • Seems my original comment was deleted, but try to calm it down a bit there Spike. My post wasn't comparing their lifetime achievements, it was a note that at every Page/Plant show I saw (it was 4 on that tour) Thompson was noticeably better than Page. If that sets you off your rocker it's no sweat off my back. I was actually there, you were what all of 14 years old at the time? Jimmy and Porl are good friends by the way, I imagine they'd share a pretty good laugh over your childish rants.

  • Actually I don't think Porl is on a race with Page, for years now Thompson had said that Jimmy is a Master to be follow, So it was quite a honor to play on the same stage, by the way, Jimmy let Porl do his Solo. Porl pwns hurley1 my friend.

  • well jimmy doesnt play that first solo live usually anyways...so it wasnt a big deal to let the other guy do it...

  • you guys gotta calm, Porl rocks, he would not of been picked if page and plant didnt feel he was right for it. They both are legends.

  • @curedtc4 ur right. In real life it was a bummer to see Porl take the solos, but Page never did a 6 sting solo anyway, so Porl is doing something from the record that Zep never did live, and time has treated Porl's tone and choice of notes well. He did a good job in a villain's role.

  • hurley this nooob is one of the big reasons the cure sold what 80 millions records?

  • Hurley started what scene? they just started the cure...and are brilliant. Man you are a twit...poor baby, is the world dragging you down? twit twit twit

  • you think the cure are brilliant and im the twit? lol i pity you. Go cry over a breakup fag.

  • Man you are a mouth of gas. Who the hell are you talking about breaking up? or a broken fag? who cares about a broken fag...you cant smoke it...you just get another one from the pack....or is that you mean to be homophobic..lovely since the Robert Plant is bi-sexual...twit, you are ...a twit

  • WOW! wtf are you rambling on about to dumb limey? Faggot means gay. The cure is for gay little boys who cry when their girlfriend breaks up with them. Hence the reason I said they started the emo scene. Are you trying to be a stereotypical britt? Let me guess you have crooked teeth and you sweep chimneys for a living?

  • I am not a limey, but since you do not like limey's I guess you hate led Zep as well. Since when did the cure start a "emo scene" . No they started the Cure, anything after that is coincidence. Ps...your hate and usage of words only push you further in the closet you so desperately can not stand. Talk about a stereotype.

  • never said I didn't like 'em. I just said you were rambling on about a fag being a cigarette. Pointless. Obviously that's not what I was referring too. The Cure is shit. 'nough said.

  • You have problems with remembering your word usage and when you use these words, check back on your "fag" comments. Me "rambling" on about a fag being a cigarette was irony, and a downplay on your fascist comments.

  • underground emo was pretty much thanks to Ian Mackaye with Fugazi, we have him to thank for straight edge fags.

  • Comment removed

  • What kind of comment is this? Its almost like someone trying to join in a conversation about history, and this fool chimes in with how they love Fiction when the conversation is about Abraham Lincoln. Queer? The only odd or strange parts of this is you chiming in with words that make no sense to the comments made....you little troll

  • Nope, not kidding. I was there, you were what, all of 14 years old at the time? Note that my post wasn't a comparison of their lifetime achievements, it was a simple observation. I didn't say that Porl is a better guitarist than Page, nor did I say he has achieved more as a player because he rather obviously hasn't. I said he was better ON THAT TOUR. Thompson and Page are good friends, by the way. I'm sure they'd share a good laugh over childish rants such as yours.

  • who's in the drums? it's jason?

  • The song does NOT remain the same - without Bonzo.

  • I agree with you. Michael Lee is a damn good drummer though. I saw him with Page and Plant in '98 and he kicked major ass. Not as much as Bonham would, of course. But he was still a good choice for the band.

  • What about JPJ? No-one seems to give the poor guy any credit! I mean, Page and Plant said they didn't want to carry on with Led Zep because of Bonzo's death but basically they actually did was sack Jones and bring in new musicians!

  • Quite true. D:

That's why Led Zeppelin is amazing, Page and Plant.. nah.

  • A friend of mine saw Page & Plant during this tour and said that when they started to play this song the crowd went absolutely nuts. This song kicks that much ass!!!

  • THIS IS THE SHIT :D YEEAAH

  • man, i love how page and plant still rock it out to the song as they did during the 70s. the song does remain the same.

  • how dare u kick Porl out of the bank u old wankers...

  • because jimmy page is all you need to be superb.

  • Porl Thompson, he's just great. Thanx God he's back in The Cure, which never ever been the same without him.

    I LOVE POOOORL!

  • Yeah! He's a baldy but he's a good guitar player! And he's from the Cure. And he's friends with the band. Now go suck it!

  • What happend to this INCREDIBLE DRUMMER? Michael Lee. He did the No Quarter DVD too. I cant find him anywhere. He is Devestatingly good. Of course Jimmy Page has aged and so has his guitar playing. The guy in the background at the end "wow. That was Great!" Thats cute. Thanks for this cool video.

  • he didnt play lead cause he was too fucked up!!!!

  • Jimmy Page is quoted in a 1977 article (Trowser Press I believe) as saying he wanted to work with a 2nd guitar player, but he didn't think Zeppelin fans would understand. A 2nd guitar player is something Jimmy wanted at times. Jimmy got rid of Porhl after reports that fans couldn't hear Page playing throughout 95 tour.

  • You all keep making comments about how awful Page sounds, but look at anyone from then, now. Clapton, for example is fucking horrible and a bore to listen to. The ridiculous Cocaine redux they always play on the radio. We're talking about rock gods of the seventies. I am glad to see them alive and well, but in their sixties and seventies do you really expect to hear what they were back when they we're in their twenties? Keep in mind Robert Plant was 19 when Zep started, and that was 40 years ago

  • i hate to say it but i think page isnt playting lead becuase he would fuck up his own leads he wrote i know page was angry in 85 as to how they sounded i love jimmy page but he druged himself to death i hope he still has it some where deep down inside

  • He didn't play lead on much of this tour.

  • page is a mess in this

  • yea i agree plant sounds better than in the 70's

  • I just read through the comments -- Trust me, there was a certain feel to the song that night that doesn't make it through the video. I was sitting behind the stage taping the video screen on this one. The drums were amazing live, but behind the stage in an arena, you aren't going to get the best sound with a the video camcorder. This song was intense live...I've heard a thousand Zepp bootlegs of TSRTS, but it is on another level when you feel the song perfomed live...

  • Great Stuff!! I am the one that taped this show. The original DIVX AVI I encoded with wasn't playing on my new machine -- glad to see it still alive! I still have the tape of this full show in a closet somewhere.

  • I agree, there's no Bonham in the gay drummer, his snare is crap, and his bass drum sounds too Metal to be zeppelin.

  • R.I.P Bonham

  • Show some respect for the "bald guy". He is Porl Thompson from The Cure and before he had reached the age of 20 he had already become a local guitar legend. Besides if he weren't good Robert & Page wouldn't have asked him to play with them. Right?

  • AWSOME PAGE AND PLANT WERE ON FIRE but the drumming was too loud and annoying

  • plant sounds better than when zep was together after 73..

  • WoW this I have never seen before!!! really cool!! :D

    Go Led Zeppelin<3

  • That drummer is annoying

    Page is on Fire!!!

  • jimmy is eating his hair

  • Led Zeppelin are such an inspiration. Not just because of the music but also how these guys have enjoyed living their lives.

  • any led heads out there please check my page out to see over 50 more of led zeppelins greatest. may led live on forever

  • the bald guy is porl thompson of the cure....ignorants

  • Well, Page and Plant makes the most of the band!

  • Nope this wasnt zep, I like to think of this as Pagey trying to recreate the 'album' sound in gigs like this, listen to the bloody music then You might get it! Zeppelin NEVER played exact replica's of what they recorded, which is what made them so fucking great, they had the talent to expand...

  • good lord that solo guitarist is on steroids.

    Nice drummer

JIMMY PAGE ROBERT PLANT ZEPPELIN FOREVER!

  • the best gropu in the world

  • Just to go off at a tangent - i've watched the progress of michael lee - drums -over the years when he started with the little angels, and i can honestly say he is without doubt the most complete rock drummer ever. I'm an old fart now but i've been in percussion for fifty odd years and seen them all. Debate please - about the drummer!

  • how is there any speculation as to who the other guitarist is when it clearly says it at the end?

  • i am a huge zeppelin fan, but who in the hell was that asshole playing the other guitar? the best thing about zeppelin live is the way jimmy puts together all of the studio parts of the songs into one and plays it live as one track. that is probably the most fascinating thing about watching him - other than the fact that music just pours out of him. i stopped the song immediately when i saw that other douche bag.

  • uh, thats Porl Thompson, and clearly Jimmy Page thought he was fantastic, so quit yer bitchin

  • haha, whatever dude. you probably listen to creed and shit like that. did you honestly think that was amazing? i dont believe you really do. there is no reason why jimmy should have assistance with any zeppelin song. i think he should re-evaluate after doing something like that as much as i am a fan anyway.

  • and who in the fuck is porl thompson. some dumbass that plays for some new rock band? im not even going to look him up. all new music sucks.

  • ah, no, if i listened to "Creed and shit" i woudlnt be looking at this vid would i?

And dont subscribe to the myth that all music today sucks. There is just as much good music today as there was yestreday, and there was just as much garbage yestreday as there is today. You have to put effort into finding the great stuff. Look up Derek Trucks, Tommy Emmanual, The Black Keys and Gov't Mule if you doubt me

  • Far from it. He's from The Cure who started in 1976 and are still going now. Ignorant fool.

  • and Porl Thompson is the guitar player for The Cure. I didnt think the vid was "amazing" but it was certainly high quality. This isn't Zeppelin, and Page can add whoever he wants to the band without disturbing the chemistry. It's not a closed off 4 piece band like Zepelin was.

  • yeah, actually it is. when you listen to zeppelin, you hear page, save when plant is singing. he was also a great poet/songwriter/singer. as was jones a bass and keyboard player. bonham was great but not exceptional - he was with an exceptional group. thats the end of it. there is no place for anyone to play any tracks over jimmy in any zeppelin music. if you have ever seen any live footage prior to this then you would understand.

  • please stpo making assumptions about me and what music i have listened too, thx. No this is not Led Zeppelin, this is Page and Plant. Jones and Bonham are missing, and they were just as important. Jimmy is not as good as he once was, and i think its important to note that his opinion on whether there shoudl be another guitarist is more important than either of ours.

  • that "ass hole" is the guitarist for pink floyd but ya i was relly disapointed to see this and see jimmy wasnt accually playing both lead and rythm

  • have some respect. that is porl thompson from the cure.

  • Yeah! You big meanies! Have respect.

  • Man -I just don't see jimmy whipping around

that doubleneck contraption like this at

    02 arena.Let's all hope they don't need

gurneys by the end of the show.

  • syd barret? he's a bald guy from pink floyd, or at least he's been pictured bald in the past decade.

  • there with the guy from pink floyd

  • i think the bald guy on guitar is porl thompson he's part of the strange sensation (robert's band on his next two albums) at any rate it is not david gilmmour of pink floyd

  • Yeah the bald guy is porl thompson he was part on the strange sensation at this point and prior to that he was with The Cure as the second lead guitarist he's back with The Cure again now though :).

  • page does that solo a lot better i don't get it (mad face)

  • agreed, see my comment above. that was barret?

  • If the boys can re-create this for the the end of Nov show in London, then I will die a happy man.... oooh yeah

  • They need to issue a DVD of these tours.........

  • If these guys play anything like this at the reunion concert..man they are back!

  • Page rarely played the studio track's verse solos live.

  • omg.. jimmy just playing rthm, not solo... ishouldnt see that..

  • nice shirt jimmy...

  • lol

  • I do not like Plant's shirt- Definitely not!

  • Heroin is a hell of a drug.

  • jimmy please play

  • jimmy page doing rithym guitar????????/

    PORL RULES!

    LONG RESPECT FOR JIMMY PAGE!

  • PORL TOMPSON IS THE BEST!!

  • MY god doesnt jimmy page look bad in this ? He's all bloated. Something wasnt right

  • Nah, it's just his hair being all a mess ... makes him look like a muppet or something, lol.

  • reminds me of Elvis right before he died. I'd say from the looks of Page here he's lucky to have escaped death during that time in his life. He look pretty good and is playing pretty good too again now.

  • omg they r just utterly amazing!

  • W3.phillydotcom/dailynews/features/8824047.html

    Hmmm...

  • I was told by a friend of mine that Porl Thompson basically blew Page off the stage on this tour. Page is here playing a bunch of boring chords, and meanwhile watch Thompson tearing it up. As for "not needing his services" Thompson was only busy playing stadiums for 10 years with the Cure? HELLO? Do you think the guy cares? Give me a break. He probably did this tour for fun. Plain & Simple.

  • Page was extemely out of practice for this tour and was frustated that he could not play the way he wanted to. For this reason Porl was asked to do the tour. Once this tour was done Jimmy really practiced for the Clarksdale CD and 98 tour. On the 98 tour they toured as a four piece band and Jimmy was amazing. It was like seeing two differnt guitarist from one tour to the next. Porl is awesome but don't forget who's licks he is playing on this video. Jimmy Page is one of a kind.

  • That may be so but I saw them at Wembley Arena in 1995 and Page's playing was amazing. Way better than when I saw him in 1998 but that's one concert against just one other.

  • True that.

  • These guys weren't British Invasion...

  • I know all off the British Invasion but thes guys were the musician magians

  • new led zep dvd coming out in november cannot wait!

  • sorry turns out is was a rumor even plant denies it

  • me too, no matters where it will be.

  • I saw this tour when it passed through Indy...porl is good but wrong for this his soling was way out of step to me so I can see why he was let go...!!

I hear they are gearing up again for a tour in 08..and Im there no matter where in the world I can catch them..older much richer now platinum rocks

  • Yessss!!!!!! Thanks for posting this! I attended Page/Plant shows elsewhere & when they broke into *this* one I just lost it (hadn't seen them do this live since I saw Zep in '77), so I think the reaction of that awestruck gent at the end of your video is just priceless! (makes it almost like being there again!)

  • A week ago the radio said Led Zeppelin are reuniting, with JPJ too!

  • i heard that was a rumor but if true YES I GOT TO SEE IT

  • the drums have a terribly fake sound to them.

  • The 1995 tour was superb, even though Page looked bad, he played soooooooooooo well (at Wembley when I saw them, at least). Still the best gig I've ever seen.

  • Page should have played more solos in that song but I understand why he didn't. He had a second guitarist to get a "fuller" sound and I guess Jimmy figured that the other guy couldn't pull off the rythm as good as he could. So Jimmy was like,"You play the little solos and I'll execute the main, amazing, massive sound that will radiate divinity from my double neck guitar! Because you can't pull off a lot of the stuff I can pull off!"

  • LOL. well said

  • Its really too bad that JPJ decided not to take part in those revival tours, but he didnt want to do it without Bonzo (R.I.P.)
