I remember watching this with a bunch of friends thinking they would love it because they always play Left 4 Dead 2...some of them liked it, but 2 of them would keep saying "whens there gonna be more zombie killing?"..."whens there going to be action."
im like...in the (original) zombie world (aka Romero's vision and series)...its not all about the zombies, its just a backdrop to how the world handles it. and this scene was PRICELESS for me. Finally seeing a zombie remember how to use a gun.
Romero is such a genius. In that last scene, Bub showed there was a semblance of humanity left in him. He could have dove on the Captain and devoured him like an animal, but he shot him with the gun like a man not a zombie...
@mechajason In the Romero universe you come back no matter what if your brain isn't destroyed. So if he was shot in the chest he would still come back.
During the scene where Bub discovered that Dr. Logan was dead, I did tear up. Sure, the guy was nuts, but he and Bub had a father-son thing going. I think Rhodes' execution of Logan was more out of personal dislike than what he used the dead soldiers for (they're dead. No harm, no foul, right?
At the moment where Bub finds Logan dead, I actually wanted to give a zombie a hug.
Dr. Logan a fucking genius. If he could train Bub to do these things, then he could make him do a lot of things like "fetch for something" that would make life easier. Like make him go into a zombie infested place to get ammunition and weapons from gun shops and food from grocery stores. Ha ha don't worry he'll get a cart to put those items so he won't have to carry them.
Bub is perhaps the most lovable zombie in a movie ever, especially due to his ability to portray emotion: childlike awe when he heard the music, fear when Rhodes pointed the gun at him, grief when he found the doctor's corpse, anger when he went after Rhodes, and outright sarcasm when he chased Rhodes right into the zombie horde
a guy I work with is the spitting image of Bub....sadly I can't take advantage of this incredible comedic twist of fate as hardly anyone has seen this film, nobody gets the reference
I like Romero. His zombies aren't only some monsters...
By Dawn of the Dead there was often moments where you aren't know are the zombies the real ''evil'' because the bikers are big assholes but they aren't zombies. Here he go more far.
They was sometimes something like us. There are more psychopaths than demons or? Sometimes you have the feeling there only need some help like some drunk guy on the street.
@mrfaty2 ..EXCUUUUUUSE ME!?!!! Slightly? smarter? Slightly smarter!!!??!!! No, let's say Bush and Bub was taking a test to see how smart they are.G. Bush would get a 52.While Bub got a 97.slightly smarter?
Wow. Does anybody else see the irony of stillclassy10 calling these others retards when he can't even string a proper sentence together? Seriously, man, it's a zombie video, of course we're going to talk about zombies.
I like Day of the Dead, and I absolutely adore Bub, but I do think I prefer the traditional mindless zombie. The mindlessness of them is what makes them so frightening, the fact that you can't negotiate with them or deter them. They want your flesh, and there's nothing else in this world that can stop them from getting it.
There is the unfortunate realization here. Whilist most zombies could possibly be "domesticated" it doesn't take away the fact they are what they are, there will be those that can't be "domesticated"...and if you manage think of how high your food shopping bill will be for meat. tsktsktsk
Romero said in one of the extras that it was a commentary on the 80s when everyone was giving up on everything, like the government, science, faith, ect. I don't really know, I just watch the zombie fun!
They should have given all of the zombies weed, booze, and taught them how to wank off. They would have been to stoned and distracted to attack people.
I like what they did with Bub/Bud (what they called him in the new one) in the more recent version of Day of the Dead. The zombie crush thing was kinda cute & funny. :)
Yeah, I don't really see the point of calling something a remake if almost nothing is in relation to the previous version aside from the zombies....and the nice zombie.
Man, if I was a zombie, and someone shot up my human friend, I would have done exactly what Bub had done, killed the guy who killed my friend, then give my zombie friends a little feast.
Man that scene where bub finds doctor Logan dead is so sad. I always get a lump in my throat when Bub realizes that Dr Logan is really dead and he starts thrashing around and moaning. Such a tragic character Bub is.
ARealHulkamaniac, I loved the part when the Americans realized that they had a zombie for a president for 8 years and they found their economy dead. Then they start thrashing around with DTs when the booze runs out. Such a tragic country USA is.
Wow trying to make a big political speach thats gonna change the world all from youtube, such a political warrior you are agaywerewolf always fighting for right and wrong by posting on peoples youtube videos. You got me good dude good job... Kiss my fat ass brother.
ARealHulkamaniac, I was actually only trying to funny with some slight sarcasum. I wasn't trying to "get you good" or anything like that. Sorry that you got upset and over reacted.
Yeah, I hear ya. No matter what, we always feel sadness for those who are suffering, even zombies. When I saw this scene, I felt very bad for Bub. Because in my eyes, they were like father and son.
@KWACKnockedShrimp And hopefully in the process flipped him a metaphorical bird ten miles high by *saluting him* while your friends *tore him in half and ate him alive*.
@KWACKnockedShrimp Slight correction; Bub didn't actually *kill* Rhodes, he just wounded him severely by shooting him several times, leaving him too weak to crawl away from the zombies reaching for him-- Rhodes was clearly still alive when they tore him in half and started eating his intestines (this being when he yells "Choke on 'em!); what Bub did was FAR more appropriate than just killing Rhodes-- he left him *alive* to suffer the pain. Not Bub's actual plan, I'm sure, but still...
It's a no brainer the zombies brain is the only thing alive after the body has died ( wich it decays over time from its lack of defence system) it's digestive tract dosent work because the body is dead. it will bacily eat even when they burst open their guts and human body parts flood out and all their limb muscles are used up where it has to crawl on the ground and slowly die after their brain rots away.

Cute?.......Well, while I don't see how, I won't disagree with you. But I do agree having a zombie friend would be awesome! As long as they don't eat you, and they're not treated like tools like in Fido.
