My OCD started when I was about 6. I'm 18 now. When I touch certain objects/move them etc, I HAVE to repeat it either two/four times or in even numbers before I'm satisfied.
I also have major anxiety over cleanliness. My friend was doing the dishes in cooking class this week, and I started having a (discreet) panic attack because she wasn't rinsing them enough.
Everyone jokes that I have OCD but I always deny it. They're right though. It makes life so hard!
Lol, yeah that's ocd alright. I use to do all that and I stopped it when the doctor told me I would have to go on medication. I was more scared of the medication than telling myself hey you don't have to turn on and off the light switch 7 times, nothing is going to happen to you. You really have to look at it as mind over matter.
I'm just curious, what if you just lived life with the mentality "oh, well"? My friend says I live with too much shame, and if I ever did something I didn't like or if something didn't work out, then I should think "oh well". Although I don't have OCD (although I do tend to have intrusive, repetitive thoughts), I'm just curious.
I have ocd. My "obsessions" i guess you could call them are about arangement and organization. I freak out if something gets misplaced! Ugh, its annoying, and i argue with myself in my head like she did in the video; is that part of my ocd? Idk. Also, if i for example pop my left knukle 5 times but only pop my right one 2 times i cant stop thinking about it util i pop it 3 more times so its even. I also fix my hair constantly! Ugh! I hate ocd :/ :)
@twinsince96 To show an example of a compulsion.... By knocking on the wall, I was showing all of you why we feel we "have to" perform these compulsions... I was reinforcing the idea in my mind that if I knocked on the wall, nothing bad would happen.... It made me feel better to knock on it even though I didn't necassarily need to.... To fight off the feeling that something bad would happen.
I have OCD. Its so fucking annoying, I've just started saying to myself that just because I don't do something doesn't mean that something bad is gonna happen. It works sometimes but not always
i had mild ocd as a child. i think it might have been the traumatization of the leaving of my father.idk. i used to clear my throat 3 times, if i stepped on a doorway line i'd do it 3 times. everything had to be even when i did things with the exception of doing everything 3 times. but like i said it was mild.
i have had OCD since i was 4 years old. but when i was 4 years the only problem was that, when someone did my hair, there couldn't be absolutley NO bumps in my hair, it all had to be strait!! and as the years passed by my OCD has gotten worse and worse. i am now 14 and it has gotten worse!
Thanks for the video Kristin. I can relate to a lot of the behaviours you talked about, although I am a lot better than I used to be and have gone a long way down the path to recovery. BTW, I also think you are cute.....
if u have ocd and you want to get rid of it just dont give a fukk what u do or think just do it stop worrying about what u do or think , thats how i got rid of i ocd , i still kind of have it but not dat severe hope this helps people that have ocd
Woah. This is so real. I was like "how does she know this stuff? Does she have it or something?" and at the end it was like "OH! So she does have it!". I've got something that isn't OCD, but it has the same symptoms, so it's like having OCD except with other stuff too. :((((((((((((
I have OCD and i am 11. M<y friends always look at me like i am crazy when i do my rituals. I hate my OCD and i want it to stop. But the only way for it to stop is home therapy. But then I would seem even wierder. Fortunately My OCD isn't that bad. But if iot doesn't stop ill have when i get older! help!
Thank you for your video. It means a lot to people with OCD like me. I experienced intrusive thoughts, scrupulosity, checking appliances and doors for more than a decade. What a lonely illness. I lost ability to have a normal conversation with people. My mind always in a high alert. Thank you again.
@alexhope77 Thank you so much for sharing! I know how you feel, and I hope that someday your OCD eases up for you.. Hang in there and always know that there are always others out there who are there for you and who know exactly where you're coming from.... I wish you the best, and thanks again! :)
@EISOBAX Hey, you should look into EFT, there's no pills involved no therapists. search here on youtube on how to do it. the rituals and thoughts are a way of the subconscious mind to deal with stress, hurt, anxiety and what not, and EFT will remove any of those negative feelings, once they are gone you won't need to perform your ritual. this method is free and all the info you need on this method is available on the net or here on Youtube, and you can also PM me if you need any help. Cheers
im only 11 and i got O.C.D and like i have thoughts about
1. if im clean cause i always think im not so i always wash my hands feet have a shower bath anything
2.i keep saying things in my head that i dont mean, like when a really bad accident happend somthing in my head says haha or im glad it happend, and it really makes me sick
@EISOBAX I know how you feel.... I get the same kind of thoughts.... But don't let them bother you! It's just OCD. :) Since you're having a really hard time with your OCD, I would suggest that you talk to a therapist about it.You don't have to take pills if you don't want to.. And of course you can still join the army! :) :) You can still live a normal life w/ OCD! Don't ever let yourself use your OCD as a reason not to do the things you want in life!
you know what ?my dear OCD colleagues..? we should stop being humiliated, and we should stop accepting humiliation,we fell inferior due to our lack ability to be normal, and ,,normal'' people treat us as retards,..i say this,we can do more then they,we work harder,if for a normal dude, opening and closing a door represent no piece of cake, maybe for some of us,represents a battle, which we trough it,and do it,Therefore we ARE most BRAVE,
@puppyluv1015 I'm sorry you go through that..... There are many others out there who go through the same thing too.... You're not alone!! I wish you all the best, try to hang in there!

im 17 and i have it too from my early baby age,it's hard for all of us,forget hard,it may sometime seem impossible, but we manage ro deal with that day by day,and that proves that we are powerful, and we shall defet this disorder
@PivotAnimator50 Hey there! Well, it all kind of depends on why you're doing the behavior and how often you have it occur.... Do you do it out of habit or do you do it because you feel like something bad will happen if you don't do it? Are there any other similar types of behaviors that you have? Thoughts you don't want?
Also, for a full diagnosis of OCD, you must have obsessions/ compulsions that take up at least one hour of your day everyday. I hope that helped answer your question!
When I was in college, my OCD started. My teacher yelled at me in front of the whole class because I wasnt paying attention. I was humiliated. I had so many thoughts going through my head, then they became repetitive. I had to think about them! I had so many worries! She took me outside of the class, everyone watched. She told me she was frustrated. I couldnt tell her why. I quit the class after that. I wanted to cry. I havent gone back for a while. My compulsive thoughts have gotten better.
@henry244 Henry, wow, I never realized what a big problem this can be for so many people! It can make it hard to read because you can't even complete a sentence without your mind beginning to wander or to even pay attention in class.... So sorry to hear about what happened, don't ever let it defeat you... One thing that always helps me is if I listen to music because it helps drown the thoughts out. Glad that it's gotten better for you though, keep hanging in there.
@WereFromTheCure I tend to repeat sentences a lot too (mentally and out loud), so I kinda know how you feel on that subject..... Glad you're able to relate. Thanks!
@Kristiniskool yeah, thanks. :-) i probably will get checked but idk. hopefully soon cause its drivin me crazi i have thoughts about ppl i love dyin n stuff n i tap my leg 2 much........ and i always ask my mama 2 go take me but wen she says y i dnt wanna say the reason cause i feel embarassed

im not sure bt i believe i have ocd. i check 2 c if my door is lock 2 much i used 2 wash my hands like crazi i always clean my room like at 4:00 n make sure everything is straight. i open n close the door mutiple times
im not sure, but i believe i have ocd. @7katie789 I used to have the cleaning symptom too when I was younger, but it's gotten a lot better and mine is pretty much only intrusive thoughts and some compulsive behavior now..... But yeah, everybody is different. :) Some people with OCD clean more than others, some have more intrusive thoughts than compulsions, etc..... Everyone is different.
Ive had it since the eighth grade. it's really bad, and the people at school are ass holes about it. i scratch a seven into my wrist everytime i see or hear the number 13 as if to counteract the bad luck. i hold my breath when i go by cemetaries. i wash my hands SO MUCH before i take my medecine, but honestly it isn't that affective. i just wish i didn't have it at all. there's also lots of other things i do too.
If anyones ever watched final destenation, thats kinda what goes on inside my head, don't know about any other people with ocd, its like, if I don't do the compulsion, Something bad will happen :(
Kristin, many people i know have been helped by truehope dot com...please check it out, lots of info there...it's a non-profit company...there is a nutritional basis to OCD and many disorders...peace
I have it, and my dad actually has the nerve to basically make fun of the illness and says that you can force people with ocd to stop, just by allowing them to not do what they want to do. psssh
And so my dad and my sis both think i dont have it. *rolls eyes*
I have it, and it's like you have to everythin perfect. Like i have a closet and 2 other doors in my bedroom. At night when i go to bed, they have to be completely pushed into the wall, even if I know they are, I still have to push the door. It'd almost like my compulsion is to do a certain routine every day...
OCD sucks so bad. I do the thing where I think about something bad..and I don't mean it..but then I think it again and ahhhh. I used to have to say the same thing every night on facebook before I went to bed, because I thought I wouldn't be able to sleep. I got over that thank God but there's other things too..
For anyone who hasn't yet, please check out my newest upload on OCD! :) I just uploaded it and it's the first video you'll see on my channel right now. Thanks.
i have ocd too! my hardest problem is writing stuff. i have to make every letter perfect, and if the ends of my letters are too light, i have to make it darker, and most of the time i have to erase whole words! most of the comments from the teachers on my report cards are stuff like this: "he needs help writing. we can't just stop whatever we're doing in the middle of our lesson to wait for him to finish writing!" or, " your son writes way too slow. i wonder about him. it's a pain.
ME TOO!!!! I'm always the last to turn tests in.... If I'm doing a multiple choice test and I put B, for example, I feel like I haven't written it right, so I'll erase it and re-write it. But then I have the thought "What if the teacher can't read this and I get the question wrong because she wasn't able to read it??!!" So then I erase and re-write again, and then again and then again. So I definitely know what you're going through!!
....continued from previous comment: Sorry you're teacher hasn't been more understanding..... Does he/she know that you have OCD? He/she might be more understanding if they know what it is.... Good luck in school! Just hang in there and remember that you can get through it and I believe in you!! :D Thanks for leaving the comment, it's great to connect to other people who have the same thing.

OMG this is exactly what i have. Although i never been diagnosed i know i have it. I would have a bad thought and it would drain me although the thought is not true it feels so real! It actually seem like you commited the image or the thought in your head. Which results in doing a ritual by checking to see if the impact of the thought is gone. Thanks so much for this vid me and my sister has it

My OCD
1-Extreme tidiness (Books straightened, door handles & light switches wiped etc)
2-If I'm leaving my house or going to sleep, I check all appliances and the door lock at least three times before I feel safe.
3-Even after that I have thoughts of someone breaking in because (I think) I forgot.
4-If I'm reading a textbook or a book with pictures, I might flip back to a previous page over and over again until I'm satisfied.
5-I also count random things like stairs or railing.

i have ocd too! my hardest problem is writing stuff. i have to make every letter perfect, and if the ends of my letters are too light, i have to make it darker, and most of the time i have to erase whole words! most of the comments from the teachers on my report cards are stuff like this: "he needs help writing. we can't just stop whatever we're doing in the middle of our lesson to wait for him to finish writing!" or, " your son writes way too slow. i wonder about him. it's a pain.
