  • hmm, why 4 ram slots, yeah lets stick my 16gb of ram in that....Great idear he says!

  • no thermo past wtf was he thinking n00b

  • I know more than this guy and im 10!

    Expert village = Expert morons

  • 'thermal paste''? are you fucking serious? it's not required, i don't use it and don't have any problems.

  • @WackoX1337 you have have thermal paste on ur CPU hahaha wow

  • you idiots the stock heatsink comes with pre-applied thermal grease! the man did nothing wrong!

  • HAHAHA you forgot the thermal compound Mr. "Expert" nice way to just let people fuck up their computers.

  • This guy may know what he is talking about... but my God this stuff is so old he can really help me!!!

  • no thermal grease?

    haha, this guy's a novice

  • you need to show how to put on thermal grease wtf

  • camera guy sucks lol

  • hi ncie video, people watch my videos please :)

  • wow. how old is this system?

  • intel(R) pentium(R) dual CPU E2220 @ 2.40 ghz 2.40ghz. Does this mean I have 4.8ghz?

  • yes, it is a dual core processor with 2.4ghz of each core so its 2.4+2.4=4.8

  • @dmatk163 No.

  • yes it is 2x better than a single core at same speed so it makes him look like 4.8ghz and yes i know that this doesn't count that way

  • Where the fuck is your anti-static band? Retard. Noob village strikes again.

  • @KippurCatArts Dude it's okay. I don't use that stupid band and my PC is STILL running so it's obviously a FEAR thing and more money down the drain on something that does not matter.. -.- lol..

  • Where the fuck is the thermal paste?

  • I reckon! I was thinking wow if someone follows this vid to the letter, then they are gonna have a lot of problems running their computer for longer than 20 seconds hahaha

  • @Techlur It's already on the heatsink. All the boxed processors have that.

  • lol

  • hAy Guyz, installz ur cpu by getting in urs time machine and getting a cheaparse old computers. Den opens case, hammer in dah cpuz. Woops i didnt know amd no fit in intelz.

Jesus this tutorial is very very bad! lol.

  • What a shitty tutorial, the parts are old as fuck and the guy forgot about the thermal paste when he put the heatsink on.

Expertvillage is nothing near expert with computers...

  • @Peepintom234 AMD Fans have pre-installed thermal paste idiot.

  • @helloimclaudio

Yeah they do, just like the intel heatsinks. And they both equally suck.

only idiots would use that thermal paste.

  • @Peepintom234 Yea i know it sucks, i sure as hell wouldn't use it my pc, mainly because i don't use cheap stock fans, but i just wanted to clear up to you that he did have paste on the heatsink.

  • @Peepintom234 the heatsink already had thermal past on it r tard

  • No offense, but wha'ts with all the outdated hardware? It looks like this video was made way back in 97'.

  • who ever edits these videos, they do it very choppy

  • no thermal paste between cpu n cooler?

  • theres some thermal paste on the CPU cooler already, most of the stock fans/heat sink comes with a bit of thermal paste on the bottom of them

  • how to build your own pc:

    buy a cpu

put on it some toothpaste and place it the fridge for an hour ,then apply gently with a big hammer the cpu onto the white pci slot.

take 3kgs of strawberry jam and 20 marshmallows, then hold the marshmallows securely on the cpu tray with some screws. take some extra strong glue and apply the ram modules to the chipset. put the jam on it and rub your face all over it. then place it in a 1800w microwave for an hour and here you have your new working pc!!

  • Dick Head you made me ruin my computer!

  • yay can i add sum cheese

  • ok so when iv securely placed the microwave in place should i apply extra jam to the outside of the microwave?

  • yeah sure so the microwaves don't go outside of the microwave.

jus in case, to prevent from external microwave radiations, put in the microwave a fully charged LiPo battery and a car battery and you should be ok.

if you see some other radiations coming out of the microwave ( to measure them just take 2 marshmallows and screw them together o make a fully-functional geiger counter)

  • so when you made the geiger counter and if your microwave is on, you should see the marshmallows glowing a bit.

if they start to melt( beta-lambda-azthera waves) you'd better throw the working microwave with all the stuff inside in a lake, and then normally after an hour of 1800w microwaving you should have your nrw pc! hope that i was helpful!!

  • dude your advice was totally awesome, now i can run crysis at over 9000fps!

  • yeah the guys @ nvidia just called me and asked i i could sell them the patent because they tried and (how??????) it didn't work.

maybe we'll see a new chip coming after gt300, like gt400mm with this architecture , where mm stays for marshmallows.

hope it wont be as pricy as the actual chips... aha , 'bout chips....... LOL!!!!

  • Dude i buy new computer after newyear and i play crysis over 30fps!!

  • Yuo are going to get DIZZY!

  • ha, only 30???

im just joking... xD my old computer would probably do it with a total of 4 fps.

  • fucking asian

  • lol haha think again fag

  • WHAT 9000!?

  • @pogodrummer i bought new i7 980x and didnt have money to have someone install it and i followed your instructions step by step to me a fucking hour and now my PC wont work wtf!!!!

  • @pogodrummer Damnit it didn't work, i dont think i put enough toothpaste, and i might have ate a marshmellow :(

  • @pogodrummer Right! :)

  • AMAZING, lollllll

  • People...

    -

Build your own PC. Follow this.

    -

Place your System Memory (RAM) into the motherboard,

Apply your processor (But don't force it) ,

then apply your heatsink with the thermal paste on it.

There should be a wire coming off the fan, that plugs into a power outlet on your motherboard near the CPU (On my Motherboard it is Brown)

Fix in your PSU, connect the power leads from the PSU, to the HDD, CD, GFX, Motherboard.

Add your hard drive and CD drive plug them in. Install Windows... Done!

  • I just recently bought an E8200 with an intel core 2 duo stock heatsink. the processer fit in perfectly but the heatsink did not. I used to have a Intel Pentium dual-core and the Pentuim dual-core stock heatsink, which u had 4 screws that fit in my mobo fine. BUT my new core 2 duo heat sink has 4 push-ins instead of the screws. The push-ins wont fit in the four little holes (thats what she said...) on my mobo. Any ideas?

P.S can i use my old Pentium dual-core stock heatsink for my E8200?

  • You didn't apply the compound paste

  • Stock coolers already have the paste :)

  • Google if it is compatable. I got a AMD Athlon XP 2800+ that can support Duron processors lol.

  • hmm, it all seems clear to me

but i'm building my first rig now and I do have a question...

what's up with the thermal paste or gel?

do you really need to apply/buy it?

or does is it added inside your package?

  • Yes, it should be applied.

The paste is what distributes the heat out of your CPU and into your heat sink.

  • where the hell you plug the cord up

  • Dude why did you cut the video short when you put the heat sink on?

  • Holy shit, thats my motherboard! Its on the mat right now for a build, lol, but its being replaced in a few weeks :( Some memorys with the thing

  • Why did'nt you place the cream on the bottom of the fan before installing?

  • haha the cream xD cause its already applied on the heatsink

  • If you get a retail heat sink the "thermal paste" comes applied already.

  • It´s old video with Old processor

  • i got a amd athlon 64 2x and who cares as long as it works! and who care what other people have i can care less!

  • I noticed on the video here you got off the part real quick on installing the heat sink to the CPU,because you know that it can be a bitch.

  • Especially when some "expert" is installing the motherboard to the case right away, lol :)

  • i have a intel xeon quad core with crappy windows vista ultimate 64x

  • SHUT UP ASSHOLE!

  • why xeon, its a waste of money, and vista doenst suck.

  • who cares...

  • i do cuz my pc is faster than ur HAHAHHAH

  • just becasue you have a i7 965(sure its 965 not sure) lol doesnt mean your is faster,as for one only your prosscer is faster, but for all you know he could have the same cpu and oc it faster then ur's so stop being a dick and take ur head out ur own ass

  • And me, Sempron 2200+ overclocked to 4GHx, you loose, playboy XD

  • Thats an AMD processor you numbskulls.

  • we will be careful like you lets distroty our computers use the hammers

  • for all who want to know thats a k6 II

  • wow that's a really small cpu fan. Even for those who come boxed.

  • sigh..pentium2 was a slot 1 configuration..which means the cpu itself came on seperate card that you had to slot into your motherboard. This concept got carried along into the early pentium 3 series for a while but didnt last long.

  • @MalkavianMadness: I think the slot idea is very good, it isn't as delicate as the sockets. With a socket it's like: You touched the socket, too bad, you need a new motherboard.

  • i think its pentium 2 cuz i have disassembled a pentium 3 pc and they had the processor clicking thingy

  • This is not a pentium 2. If you saw a p2 you could tell the difference. Those where HUUUGE, like twice the size.

  • pentium 3 - sry

  • w00t no thermal paste O.O cpu suicide risk here

  • Usually AMD's have pre-applied paste but seeing how this video is a hundred years old I'm not sure.

  • i can gurantee u tat dis is a pentium3 pc cuz i have disasembled one and the fan and the heatsink was the same as shown in the video and it had the procesor locking thingy.

  • so a intel core comes with amd heatsink?

    wow.....

  • Uhm, no.........

  • no im replying to a retard that said the heatsink was made by amd... for a intel cpu

  • How bizarre XD ok. didnt read it ;)

  • who the hell cares but this rig is pentium 3 cuz the have the processor clicking thing and the fan instalation is the same as the on i had

  • youre talking about the computer hes building right here?

i saw him hold the processor up it said AMD on it.

  • Wow that CPU looks old as hell.

  • haha everything does lmao

  • lol^^

    *krrrrrkk*

    Just be careful

  • I didn't see him using any anti-static equipment. You should always use anti-static equipment to protect the components you are handling. At the very least you should touch the inside of the case to try and discharge any static.

  • can you just wear rubber gloves

  • do the thermal gel come with the cpu or u buy it seperate?

  • Usually with the new Intel processors, they have a stip you peel of on the CPU fan block which fits on top of the CPU. Some you will need to buy additional thermal compound for. Just be careful not to apply too much, and try and make it an even, thin layer.

  • You totaly forgot thermal paste. DO NOT follow this particular video have a look at a few others cause this guy forgot thermal paste.

  • You are right about the thermal paste. I highly recommend thermal paste or compound before putting on the heatsink to keep it MUCH COOLER!

  • Not only much cooler, much safer. it stops your CPU overheating to the point of burning up

  • Reccomend? its actually needed, because, the way it works, it transfers the heat from teh cpu to the Heatsink through the paste, it acts as a bridge.

  • Retail CPU/HSF combos have the thermal paste preapplied. He said he got it from the retail box, so he did not have to worry.

  • some don't some do its difficult to tell. looking at this video again it looks like a thermal pad or something. Although most new intel ones don't.

  • huge mistake not using thermal gel

  • no.

the thermal compound is already on the cooler like on everey boxed cooler

  • no thermal grease?

  • You people are so arrogant. You're nothing but "fanboys". You own the product therefore its the best, thats your problems. My suggestion pick up a book and read. History, never lies.

  • Forgot to mention including the pea-sized dab of cooling paste/gel before putting on the heatsink.

  • It is a good guide. Unfortunately, virtualmatrix has it wrong.

  • sup /g/

  • do intel have better cpu's then amd?

  • If you want speed go with intel, if you want raw processing power go with AMD...I'm an AMD fan myself.

  • What's the difference between "speed" and "raw processing power" when talking about a CPU?

  • What the fuck are you talking about?

  • Well obviously you cant read and everyone else can. Hmmm there's usually an errogant asshole of the bunch.

  • I can read. Comprehending your gibberish however, is out of my skillset.

  • Cool story bro.

  • mmm, i disagree.

i'd better say that AMD is pretty fast and cheap, intel isnt that cheap but you have REAL processing power.

keep in mind that "raw processing power" is today used in servers, and intel xeons outperform opterons .

and there is also itanium 2 (and the forthcoming ones) so i'd better say that if you want power in your machine you'd go with intel, but it's also true that is a matter of time before amd releases a very fast new processor that will outperform intel's so let's wait!!

  • The new Deneb cores processors can overclock like no tomorrow. I don't mind going out of my way for cooling when you can overclock to 4 Ghz for $200.

Do you know when Intel's planning on releasing their new processors?

  • with the i7 u can overclock too to 4ghz and it wont need no other cooling, cuz it will be icy cold.

For the Intel next processor's release dates i have a friend that recieved the i9 specs (westmere architecture, 6 core, HT) and he told me that for Q1 2010 we should probably have them, but u know, the dates can be wrong (:

  • aghahahaahahahahaha intel pwns amd

  • do u have to use thermal compound

  • yeah it really help keep heat off the cpu

  • why the hell would he touch the socket. oil is on your skin

  • was thinking the exact same thing, wat a tit!

  • He was probably using a junk computer for the demo.

  • lol, he forgot the most important thing about building a computer, grounding your self or ridding your self of static. Without doing that you can easily break a computer component.

  • If thermal compound is already pre-applied to the heatsink, do I still need to apply thermal paste to the processor as well?

    Sorry for newb question

  • No, just pre-applied is enough.

  • mine comes with a thermal pad on the bottom too but im going to use some thermal paste just in case.

    i suggest you do too.

  • why is this video so skippy? videos on metacafe dont stop and skip as much! :(

  • so a shit

  • Do you NEED thermal paste for the CPU?

  • yes...

  • Technically no. All the thermal paste does is fill in the tiny gaps between the Heatsink and fan assembly and the processor. However it is NOT a good idea.

  • This video helped me because I was thinking that I'd need thermal paste but then I remembered my computer didn't have any.. and this video doesn't have it either.

    Thumbs up.

  • Well, you dont really need it. But it is recommended. Thermal Paste is designed to fill the little gaps in between the heatsink and the cpu. Thermal paste is a much better heat conductor then air so applying it will help cool ur cpu better.

  • YES!!!!

  • He forgot to show the Thermal Paste

  • no he didn't

that Socket A retail HSF, has a "pad" on the bottom of it, it does the same thing, if not better than paste.

if seen a cpu fry when someone forgot to take the plastic film off it

  • the pads are crap...AS5, Shin Etsu, MX-2 or TX-2 destroy the thermal pads

  • i disagree, you can buy whatever chemicals you want to remove the pad, and then buy some thermal paste, but

as long as the pad is thin, has a similar thermal conductivity than the metal, and the HS does not need lapping, your good.

the only purpose of the pad/paste is to fill in molecular gaps.

yes, 3rd party pastes are better, but if you "need" to use one, you might wanna look at your overall thermal picture.

    crap=good enuff

  • Right.

  • helpful guide!

    thanks.
