I wouldn't make a comparison...I like all the formention bands but I will say, Kurt's voice isn't nearly as tuned as Cornell's. Chris has the best overall range of the mentioned bands, IMO. I like them all for different reasons. It's crazy though, nearly 20 years ago, and all the grunge guys are still getting it done, Nirvana in the form of the Foo Fighters though...still it's there though?
Gods of Grunge ! More explorative than STP, Alice in Chains, Nirvana, and Pearl Jam. I love all those bands, but Chris Cornell's voice with the heavy riffs is a match made in Hard rock Heaven !

Back in the 90s it was all about the music, but then rap and disney came in and made it about the artists. These rappers and Disney stars create a cult of personality and make money regardless of music quality. They shovel out name brand sh*t and make more money than bands that carefully craft a hit. If you want proof, go look at the billboard top 100 and see how many of them are peoples' names and how many are groups.

I wouldn't make a comparison...I like all the formention bands but I will say, Kurt's voice isn't nearly as tuned as Cornell's. Chris has the best overall range of the mentioned bands, IMO. I like them all for different reasons. It's crazy though, nearly 20 years ago, and all the grunge guys are still getting it done, Nirvana in the form of the Foo Fighters though...still it's there though?

Gods of Grunge ! More explorative than STP, Alice in Chains, Nirvana, and Pearl Jam. I love all those bands, but Chris Cornell's voice with the heavy riffs is a match made in Hard rock Heaven !

Despite of the critics from Abruzzesse fans, his sound as a drummer is loud, solid, unique and simply awesome. And dont only talk about Chris people, what about Kim, Shepperd and Cameron? They're excellent musicians!!! (2:23, love to play this bit on guitar, it's just BEAUTIFUL).

you gotta admit: when talkin about musicality, SG is the best Grunge band ever! because: Nirvana is awesome, but nothing more than some chords in a row. pearl jam has got Eddie Vedder, who Sings like awesome!!, but the rest ain't better than SG. and Alice in Chains is the only compareable band to SG, but it's just taste, so SG is much better! :P

Back in the 90s it was all about the music, but then rap and disney came in and made it about the artists. These rappers and Disney stars create a cult of personality and make money regardless of music quality. They shovel out name brand sh*t and make more money than bands that carefully craft a hit. If you want proof, go look at the billboard top 100 and see how many of them are peoples' names and how many are groups.

When AiC played Sonisphere last year Metallica, Anthrax, Feeder, Paradise Lost, Machine Head and Corey Taylor all came to watch from the side as they played, that didn't happen to any other band at that festival, so mediocre is a massive understatement.

@aarongtr180 soulfly aren't great musicians but the style, the show, and the raw power of their music keeps me listening. a few alice in chains songs have good lyrics and sound, but for the most part i'm not drawn into the sound presented at all. 'again' and 'them bones' are both great songs though, i'll give them that.
