Ok we cant connect comes up as 1.8.1 on the bottom right of the menu screen. Been trying for 3 hours to get it working. Any ideas? It just times out when trying to connect

Well currently this only works for version 1.3 (the version you get when you downloaded Minecraft.)

I would recommend to remove your current minecraft version, download again and start Minecraft WITHOUT updating. Both your friends need version 1.3 (The one which comes with the download). Otherwise it won't work. If you really want the newest Minecraft release and play LAN, you'll have to buy the game :).

Its fine and all, i played it it works, but 1 thing has been bugging me..

I run WIndows 7 32-bit, and hamachi tends to screw up my internet settings so I can't play LAN anyway and I cant browse the internet, but it fixes itself after i uninstall hamachi.. any ideas?

Did you force update? If you did, delete, redownload, and try again. The guide says you have to tick force update (Which worked a few months ago), however recently the 1.7.3 patch will make you unable to join a server if you didn't bought the game.

Did you force the update? Don't update. It says you have to but updating to the newest Minecraft release will make you unable to join a multiplayer server.

You both need 1.3.1. If one person has a different version it won't work.

To get back to 1.3.1, remove minecraft, download again and DONT UPDATE.

Let me know if it worked.

Hi mate! I followed all ur instructions propperly but my friend can't join the game. i got 2 pc's lan connected and we are both in hamachi also before i launch the game. When i go multiplayer and type in my hamachi IP it connects me instantly ingame and i can begin playing, But when my friend wants to connect it sais after a while he lost connection to the server and i searched for alot of fixes but non of em work. Also both games are the same version and non updated. Maybe u know to fix it =)

Ye, it might be. This however would be a hardware related issue. I once played with my friend using a "non fake" LAN connection. The server was hosted on his, very slow, laptop. Because of his lack in RAM and clock speed MineCraft just wasn't playable (Cubes reappered)

Playing with a LAN connection will give you the best ping possible, however MineCraft is kinda RAM based, so having less than 2 RAM & a bad CPU can cause some trouble.

Did you tick "Force Update" before playing? Updating Minecraft will update it to version 1.6.6. It's playable in Single Player mode, but not in a LAN. If you DID tick update: Remove minecraft and download it again.

If you didn't: you either typed your Hamachi IP incorrectly, or both of you are using a different download (eg. One guy is using the official Minecraft with version 1.6.6 and you're using 1.3)

Ye there is. If you're both connected to a Router/Modem, type the router IP (192.168.x.x) of the host. If you're not, best way is to buy a Crossover Ethernet Cable and connect the output network connection of a networked computer directly to the input network connection of another networked computer. Afterwards, type the IP of the host in the Multiplayer tab of MineCraft.

Download Extract To Destop

Click "run" and type %appdata% Move .minecraft and .minecraftserver to that folder

To play single player click Spminecraft and DO NOT check force update

To play lan go to .minecraft server and open Minecraft_server wait for it to say done

Then open SPminecraft DO NOT click forceupdate

Go into multiplayer and type ur Hamachi IP-adress If you're not using Hamachi go to "Command prompt" and type ipconfig it should look like 192.168.x.xxx

I keep getting the error "Lost end of stream" whenever I update to 1.5_01. I think this is due to the fact that the Minecraft server included in your download link only creates a 1.3 server. If you happen to find a way to get an updated server I think it would fix the errors. :)
