So now if u don't want to wait for this new Straight Talk LG Optimus 2X to come out. Just go onto Ebay or Craigslist and buy an Unlocked T-Mobile LG G2x (Aka LG Optimus 2X), Then buy the ST SIM and insert. Wallah, Now u have the same service as this ST LG Optimus 2X, But probably for much cheaper. As u can buy this phone on Ebay for alittle under $300 now. And cheaper used on Craigslist. Also, most of them on Ebay are Rooted too. So there will be the Tethering availability.
Ok Guys, ST just announced a new Bring Your Own Phone (BYOP) service. Now u can bring or use ANY "Unlocked" GSM phone with the $45 plan. Androids and iPhones, But NO Blackberries. All u need to do is purchase the ST SIM or Micro SIM (Aka iPhone SIM), Pay your first month, Then insert your new ST SIM into your "Unlocked" GSM phone and BOOM. U can use an T-Mobile 3G/4G phone or an AT&T 3G/4G phone (Non-LTE). It just has to be Unlocked and thats all. Go to ST website to check it out for yourself
I bought straight talks first Android phone (Samsung Precedent). It gets the job done. But this phone is like comparing a Cadillac to a Kia. Im so bummed.
All straight talk androids run on sprint, not T mobile. And i bet the 4g is gonna be awesome. I have the optimus q, the first version of this phone, and it is kick ass, the only dissapointment with straight talk is i cant text cha cha, but hey, theres a chacha app!
Omg my dad says that hea going to get rid of his T-Mobile G2x just because there making this prepaid. Thats dumb its a good phone but he says its embarasaing. Anyway i wonder how much? Maybe $250
@Shibahiba1 What your dad is doing is making a smart move, and he can use his current tmobile phone with ST anyway, just needs to buy a SIM card from straight talk...
Is there any catch about it being 4G? I mean, that would be great, but I just wonder if there's a hitch being that it is still prepaid. For example, maybe it's only 4G capable, but doesn't run on 4G all the time.
@graciousSenor well, it's hspa+ 4G, not "real" 4G (LTE). This phone was at first mistakenly advertised as a 4G LTE phone, although that's since been corrected on Straight talk's advertisements. The difference between the two is that LTE is noticably faster, but also drains the phone's battery much quicker. HSPA+ is still pretty fast though (often faster than a home internet connection) and doesn't drain the batter like crazy the way LTE does.
@summerguy03 That clears a lot up. Thanks! I doubt I'll end up buying the phone though. I was only looking into it for my girlfriend, but the fact that it's going to run on T-Mobile's network really deters me (their network isn't the best, especially where I live).
Instead I'm thinking of buying an AT&T Android and taking the Sim from her E71 and swapping it into whatever Android I buy. Apparently the E71 is the only ST phone where a person can swap Sim cards.
@graciousSenor That very well could be....Verizons new prepaid at $50 a month states 4G speeds....but....you only get 4G for the first 100 MB I believe (read the sign at Walmart yesterday). It sounds like a nice phone, I'm waiting to hear on cost & battery life. Curious when it comes out.
Guys, for use ones asking about which network this phone run on. Just look at the description, it says that it's a GSM phone. LOL, just read it again. This will be running on T-Mobiles 3G / 4G network. Which is awesome, especially sense T-Mobiles coverage is much better too.
Glad i didnt purchase the stupid androids they currently have. This ones gonna be amazing

@csy30076 I wonder where the user got that info though? They don't specify on the website GSM. It seems that CDMA has a much broader coverage.

Hopefully it doesn't work on the shitty Sprint network
