I live in FL. and see waterspouts almost yearly. They are a great sight. But I have never seen any pics of waterspouts in CA. NICE. I have also seen a waterspout come onshore and take out many structures. Mother Nature. Gotta love her. :)

I shot it in High Def, the crazy thing is that you can see a boat almost going for the spout. Very stupid, I don't know if they were being pulled towards it or what.

You can hear me breathing hard running in the beginning, I was ready to BOLT! The more I research it, I think it might have been a wall cloud. I think it is kind of rare, but I could be wrong.

Fascinating but creepy and even a bit scary as, like tornadoes, waterspouts can suddenly change direction and catch spectators off guard. They can still cause damage, though usually not at the level of an F1 tornado. Nothing to play with, for sure.

Well, they are basically a lot like tornadoes except over water, as far as I know.

My grandma tells me a story of a waterspout that came up on this same beach, an went up the valley tearing up some roofs, and destroying a whole business I think. That was back in the 50's or 60's. Now they would tear up that whole moonlight corridor, so I was getting ready to bail.

This is amazing. I used to crash on the beach on the left about 8 weeks ago. Last october i think encinitas got allot of wind. It ripped off the insurance company sign where Encinitas Blvd. and 101 meet. Behind moonlight beach. Now it's on fire!? Good thing I peaced out to Maui!
